Diner Reviews
  • "From start to finish the staff was very professional and very detailed making our dining experience was memorable. Would definitely be a repeat customer."

  • "I went for the alfajores. The tiny cookies were perfect - lightly sweetened with powder sugar, lovely delicate texture, and the filling was just how I liked it. My mom had the chocolate cake dessert. It was lighter than I expected, and rich with chocolately flavor. My husband went for the tequila bread pudding. This one was my least favorite of the four, which surprised me, as tequila and bread pudding are two of the things that make life worth living. This dessert had a nice flavor and texture but it didn't wow me like the others. The best dessert, and believe me, this was a hard call to make, was the mango ginger sorbet. It was sweet, refreshing, and packed full of fruit and ginger flavor. I can't imagine anything better on a hot day!"

  • "On Friday night I ordered the Parillada Americas - a meat feast like no other - Churrasco steak, Carnitas, Chicken, Chistorra and more served with Yuca and vegetables. A realy excellent meal, superbly cooked and served with a really fine glass of Malbec."

  • "I'll keep this short. The room was 80 degrees when arrived. i had to speak to the manager to ask him to lower the temperature down. He blamed it on the waiters for turning it up. Their signature steak, rated as one of the top 20 in the United States was nothing more than a disappointment. i don't mind paying $50 for a good steak, in fact it's priced in line with other steak houses in Houston. This was at best a good steak that one could get at any mediocre restaurant. i was very disappointed. one thing i noticed was they suggested certain foods to be fantastic; their chips and salsa, their steak, and their tres leches. All were not up to par as compared to other places i have been. Overall, very disappointed"

  • "This was our first time at this restaurant. I got the steak as it was recommended by our waiter. I liked it, but was not blown away by it. I would like to go back and try something else. I think the menu is unique and there were many other things I probably would haver like better. Great vibe to the restaurant!"

  • "This restaurants is one of my favorites in Houston. The food is amazing and food is superb. Be sure to save room for the flaming tres leches!"

  • "While the menu is extensive and varied making every visit an adventure, we went this time for a special celebration and a plan to experience the famous sea bass. The sea bass was melt in your mouth delectable and complemented with crabmeat, grilled shrimp, risotto, and grilled vegetables. We have had ceviche each time we visit and it is the best I have ever tasted. Sometimes we go here just for drinks and appetizers. Make sure you order the flaming tres leche for dessert to see the show and experience the delicious cake. The restaurant is beautifully designed and comfortable. Most of all, the staff is always so attentive and interesting making everybody feel special when they visit."

  • "This was the third time I dined at this restaurant. It continued to meet my high standards for quality food, quantity, service and ambience."

  • "Went to this restaurant expecting a nice meal. We took my parents for a special evening. We do not mind paying for good food. However the food was tasteless and the steak mom and I had was very tough. Would not recommend or go again."

  • "My wife and I have been here twice--both times choosing to sit in the well-appointed bar. We ordered the Ahi tuna carpaccio both times and enjoyed it quite a bit. While those who prefer the simplicity of Japanese-style sushi might fight the Latin America version overdone, we enjoyed the freshness of the tuna and the presentation. One of my favorite dishes is the bacon-wrapped quail as an appetizer. Trust me, it's not coated in bacon grease--it's refined and incredibly memorable. I wouldn't consider this place haute cuisine, but the quality and variety are there and make it worth a visit."

  • "Had a fantastic wine at recommendation of our server but too many servers which created confusion. Plus there was a large group next to us having a children's birthday party at night on a weekend. At this price point, I thought that we either should have been seated elsewhere as there were a number of open tables or a rep from the restaurant kindly ask the parents to have the children stay sitted and behave themselves. Food was okay but would probably only go back for happy hour at the bar to have some more of that wine."

  • "I love this resturant. I am from out of town and this is one of my main "go to" places when visiting Houston."

  • "Always great flood and service. We always pick this restaurant for any occasion. Ask for Froy he's our favorite server."

  • "Often, when your party doesn't order alcohol, servers don't feel it is worthwhile to take care of the table. On top of that, we weren't that hungry so we shared appetizers and entrees. However, our server still gave us her best. The food was also excellent. I remembered coming here 15 years ago and being so impressed that I wanted to come back. And it didn't disappoint. The corn smoked crab fingers were fabulous! Other "don't misses" include the mixed salad and tres leches."

  • "A buffet with food that you wouldn't even think to have for brunch! The crepe station was amazing! The only suggestion I would make would be to change the music...maybe a little more upbeat or slightly louder. I will definitely be returning!"

  • "Took the family for a birthday bruch. The food offering was very good and plenty to choose from. The service was the best I have experienced in Houston."

  • "First timer. Upon entering, the décor, lighting, and furniture are unique and astonishing. The service was energetic, friendly, and helpful. The food was top notch: ahi tuna ceviche, arroz paella, carnitas pibil, and bread pudding; and accompanied by a Catena malbec. The manager greeted every table. Highly recommend."

  • "We were seeing a movie at the theater across the street so we wanted to eat and have drinks first. We sat in the bar and ordered off the HH menu. The food, drinks and service were all great and same quality you expect from Americas. However, most of the bar was reserved for a party that wasn't there leaving the rest of us to crowd in at the long bar. Also another group was ridiculously loud and annoying. I'd always go back because the food is fabulous."

  • "we have been to this restaurant several times and have had consistently good service and food. We enjoy getting several small plates/tapas and instead of one large entrée. We order a few and eat and drink and order more a few more until we are stuffed. Great way to enjoy a meal with friends."

  • "Overall, not great. I was expecting a better version of Churascos and ended up regretting going there. The wait to even get our drinks or order made me want to just get up and leave, but i thought I would try the steak I had heard so much of in food reviews. Steak was super tender with no flavor.... and once I got it, it took another long wait before I could even send it make to tell them it wasn't cook to medium. Totally disappointing."

  • "The mixed ceviche was phenomenal, it was outstanding. The waiter knew his wine very well. He had a great dinner."

  • "Over all, the place looks amazing! It has an amazing atmosphere and the service was over the top good! They constantly made sure that we were good and were doing okay with everything. I would defiantly recommend this to a friend and tell them to reserve a table by using opentable!"

  • "Few patrons on Sunday night so i dont know if service was exceptional due to this or if it 's always this good. Seafood paella was excellent and since i was driving I could only drink one glass of Chilean wine which was excellent. First time at the newer restaurant but will return."

  • "My husband and I had our anniversary dinner at America's off of West Grey. My overall rating for this location would be good. My biggest complaint would be that my husband's12oz churrasco steak was well done when he asked for medium rare. When ordering a $60 steak, it is so dissapointing to get an overcooked steak. However my husband and I did not say anything because we don't like to send food back to the kitchen in fear or what may happen to the food that comes back out to us. Other than the overcooked steak it was a good dining experience."

  • "Good food, great atmosphere...pricier than I thought it would be."

  • "Went for a belated Valentines Day dinner on Saturday night. The unconventional decor turned convention on its head with plush walls and lighting fixtures juxtaposed with smooth, sleek booths and tables. Everything from the chairs to the bathroom sinks kept to the theme of avoiding harsh lines and inviting curves. The wait staff was profession, friendly, and helpful - especially when it was difficult to choose an appetizer with such unique options. It's understandable why the steak and tres leches cake are so highly recommended."

  • "Was in the River Oaks area and did a quick search for a nice place to eat via Open table app. We landed on the Americas and the food and service was top notch. Not really my taste in ambience, but I rated it as very good because it was nice/different."

  • "Great for special occasions, meeting with old friends, romantic dinner. A quiet place, you can talk, romance or reminisce without the next table getting in the way. The menu is good and the service very attentive without being overbearing."

  • "I have always had a good dining experience here. This was the first time that I have visited on an off night (Sunday) and the atmosphere was really pleasant and not so frenetic as it can be sometimes. The food was excellent, service was attentive and I am sure to be back..."

  • "I took my dad and step-mom to Americas for lunch last Friday and, even though the food was very good, and the atmosphere was wonderful, our waiter made our meal. I can't recall his name but he was an older, Hispanic man. He was so pleasant and really made our visit that much more special. My dad is dealing with medical issues due to recent fight with cancer (he won!) and this lunch was planned right after a medical appt where he got some bad (not "cancer" bad, thankfully) news (another surgery). Thank you, Americas, for lightening up the day!"
