A word from Amen Street Fish + Raw Bar
Amen Street Fish & Raw Bar opened in 2009, reviving the former Amen name of Cumberland Street and restoring this historic corner. The new renovation stays true to the beauty of the original 1800's architecture while creating a comfortable atmosphere for contemporary life.

Located at 205 East Bay Street in the heart of the historic district this Charleston seafood restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor dining all within walking distance of the local Market and the Charleston Harbor.

The menu includes a variety of seafood dishes such as oysters, clams and shrimp in addition to an ever growing raw bar menu. Amen Street supports Charleston's local fishing industry with market fresh fish.

We are open for lunch and dinner. Walk-ins are welcome and reservations are accepted as well.

Diner Reviews
  • "Service was a bit slow. We did not like that the fish had set accompaniments for each of three styles. The shrimp corn dogs and tuna tacos were great. Really noisy: hard to converse."

  • "This is a fun restaurant where we often dine! Great raw bar! The service was a little off tonight! Sometimes they are slow on the shucking! Otherwise no complaints. The lobster and shrimp risotto was sublime and the fresh fish is always great!"

  • "We were recommended this place by our attendant at the car rental. It was our first restaurant in Charleston, and definitely our favorite of the week! Absolutely delicious seafood, shrimp and grits, and outstanding fried oysters! I'd recommend this place to anyone!"

  • "Had a great first experience at Amen Street. I love the Low Country cuisine and am a seafood fanatic, so it was a perfect combination. I particularly enjoyed the corn dog appetizer."

  • "Great location near City Market. Had reservation ready. Completely lived up to expectations. Prices were reasonable when compared with comparable restaurants, Seating was a little cramped but service was quick and efficient. I had the fried seafood platter and my wife had shrimp and grits. Both of our meals were very good, I would definitely recommend this restaurant."

  • "Wonderful! Our first time there and we were very impressed! The calamari is amazing as is the she crab soup. Salads were fabulous. We had the shrimp and grits and the lobster and shrimp risotto- both were very good but we preferred the shrimp and grits. We will definitely go back! Not one bad thing to say!"

  • "This restaurant was recommended by the hotel concierge and he was spot on. The food was wonderful, our server was fantastic, and the atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for. Tried fried green tomatoes for the first time and loved them:) Great place for dinner."

  • "Another excellent meal, Caesar Salad w/fried oysters particularly good, as were the fish tacos. Service a bit slower than usual even though it was not particularly crowded."

  • "From the moment I walked in I was greeted with warm welcoming!! Our server Catlyn was a gem there when needed always polite and smiling. As busy as the resturant was we received our wine and appetizer within minutes. Which by the way was unbelievable I got the fried oysters platter. Tasty but small. But I will definitely go back. The menu is wonderful selection of seafood and side dishes. The hush puppies were the best I ever had the honey out of this world yummy!!!."

  • "Dined here twice, and the food was good but the service was slow. It seemed that the restaurant was understaffed with waiters. This is probably enough to keep me from returning even though their oysters are great."
    Dined on 3/29/2014
  • "One of my favorite restaurants in Charleston. We ate dinner there on our first visit and lunch on our second. I highly recommend the salmon, hushpuppies, and oysters. Great service and dessert was great as well!"

  • "Drink order took a little while, especially for an early Monday evening. Oysters were great! Both of us had Catch of the Day. Fish portions were adequate; probably should have gone with an additional side dish."

  • "We lunched outside on the Charleston Harbor for great low country fare."

  • "We just happened to select Amen Street for lunch and the raw oyster bar. Everything each of us had was proclaimed, "Delicious." Presentation was excellent in all cases. The She-Crab Soup was the most subtly flavored I've ever had. Service was friendly and attentive without being bothersome. Another memorable Charleston eating experience."

  • "Good food and service but Ifelt that it was over priced and did not deliver value"
    Dined on 3/18/2014
  • "As you would expect from their name, fish are on feature. I started with a half-dozen oysters followed by swordfish, grilled, one of the three methods in which they prepare the fish orders. My partner started with a cup of she crab soup and flounder, grilled. The food and service were uniformly excellent. Not much more to say, recommended."

  • "I ate here with my in-laws a few weeks ago for the first time. We tried the peel and eat shrimp which were heavenly. The shrimp and grits were out of this world as was the dessert."

  • "The oysters were great. Wine selection very good. Would come back"

  • "My wife and I went here for dinner on a Monday. It was surprisingly crowded. The food was awesome plenty of recommendations for beef and seafood fans. Loved everything about the meal except for the speed of getting our entrées. We'll definitely go back though."

  • "My wife and I had a great experience at Amen Street. Another couple at the B&B that we were staying at recommended Amen Street and we are glad they did. The calamari appetizer was outstanding -- cannot say enough about this dish! The broiled seafood dish was very good, but the lobster and shrimp risotto was scrumptiously great. Very happy with our food, service and atmosphere."

  • "We had a great time at Amen Street. The restaurant was packed so be safe and make a reservation! We started with the mussels, which were wonderful - ask for a few extra slices of bread to soak up all of the delicious broth. Our main courses were the Seared Scallops and Pork Belly and ... who cares what my husband had - I wasn't sharing... this meal was to die for ! And the deliciousness didn't end there - desert ended as strong as the beginning and middle with a shared slice of flourless chocolate pie - which is really a creamy mousse. This was the best meal our entire weekend. Well done Amen Street!"

  • "Took a friend to Amen Street for a going away dinner. The food was great, my cocktails were better, and my friend really enjoyed herself. Service was impeccable. I highly recommend Amen Street for a romantic dinner for two that won't break your budget (even with my drinks, the total cost was under $100.00 for two)"

  • "Not very good. Good rather tasteless, service perfunctory. I used to like it a lot, but they have lost a step...or two."
    Dined on 3/6/2014
  • "I ate here on Monday and now again on Wednesday. Monday - my sister from California was with us and Wednesday - celebrating my cousin's birthday. The menu is awesome and we haven't had a bad dish yet. This time we got the crab cakes and they were really good...not alot of breading and alot of crab meat! I'm sure I will be back again."

  • "We got full eating the oysters, mussells, shrimp dogs, and fish tacos!!! The cosmopolitans were the good too! This is one of my go to restaurants when I'm downtown because the food is always good!"

  • "We had gone for our dinner and it was delicious! The place was buzzy, our the service was perfect, I made a mistake in ordering my oysters, if was my error but when I asked the waitress about changing it she was able to correct it quickly and pleasantly! We will go back again on our next trip to Charleston."

  • "Using Open Table reservations was a breeze. Our table was ready within minutes of our arrival. Our waitress was knowledgable and the service was great. The food meet all our expectations. We had oysters and shrimp corndogs for starters, and fresh fish, crabcakes, and lobster risotto as main entrees. Everyone raved about their meal. This is the second we have visited Amen and even though there are many restaurants to choose from in downtown Charleston, we would come back again."

  • "My friends and I had great service and appetizers (the hushpuppies are to die for), but my meal was lacking. I had the seared tuna, it was a terrible cut and very chewy. Quiet disappointing for a restaurant that advertises Fish in it's name."

  • "Amen Street sits on "Foodie Street" (East Bay) and has the absolutely best calamari anywhere I've tried - and that's pretty much every major city coast to coast. The calamari alone makes Amen Street work the visit; with family, with friends, for lunch or for dinner. The rest of the menu is very good, but the calamari - oh my. Perfect location at East Bay and Cumberland with a public parking garage close by (about 2 blocks). Historic area makes an after dinner stroll very inviting. I moved to Charleston 18 months ago and Amen Street has been on the agenda with each family visit. Highly recommended."
