  • Disappointing all around

I've been excited to check this place out for a while but I was disappointed all around, in terms of food, ambiance and wine. We sat in the back and it was cave-like. Sit in the front. We ordered flat breads and burrata. The flat bread isn't bread, it's on very thin cracker. We ordered flights of wine and it lacked taste and seemed flat. Perhaps the bottles had been open for a while. I don't plan to come back.

If you didn't know it was there you may just walk past it unknowingly, but you would have missed out. Truly a neighborhood gem with attentive, knowledgeable staff and great selection of small bites and wine. The available wine selections are outstanding. On this evening, there was live music. I will definitely be back!

I have been here 3 or 4 times - the scene is great. They don't let it get too crowded but there is a good mix of bar tables and dining tables. The food is fantastic - the staff is really knowledgeable and helpful. The last time I went here it was just me and one girl friend - it felt a little awkward because literally every other table was a first or second date. I will be back here for sure tho - great place!

My husband and I decided to try this place after reading rave reviews. The reviews of this place were spot on! We arrived for happy hour right when the restaurant opened and were seated immediately. There are some wonderful happy hour specials as well as wine flights, which is a selection of 3 glasses of wine for just $10.00 during happy hour. The various small plates of appetizers are amazing. One simply must try the marinated olives, as well as the salami and cheese platter, which is not to be missed. It is served with rustic bread slices and pairs beautifully with the wine. We loved this place so much that we returned one more night before our flight home. We cannot wait to go back there, and we highly recommend a visit while in SF

the wine list is impressive and very tasty, and the staff knows well their list. That being said, my friends and I were looking for a spot that would have been a bit less noisy to be able to have a smooth conversation, but the music was too loud to do so. It is great for larger groups in this sense, and I highly recommend it, say, for a drink after work, but if you searching for something more intimate and romantic, quiet, well this spot makes it difficult to share a conversation.

A nice time at Amelie after a show. The wine list is interesting with some unusual wines and the flight selection was great. We had the duck and the ravioles. It was very warm and tasty. The bread was good and service very good. Everybody was friendly. They also have a libe band but it is not too loud. It is a wine bar with some nice plates for an enjoyable moment. This was a somewhat blind adventure. I saw it was a wine bar, and I am a wine guy, so I did not really look at the food menu. First, this is a place for young folks. I think we were the only patrons over 40, and 90% were less than 30. It is VERY loud, so that a simple conversation is close to impossible. Then there was the food. It turns out that there are really no main courses. What there is I would call rustic. You can order plates of cheeses, or cured meats, or olives, or Mediterranean dips. We ordered the leg of duck, which was overcooked, and quiche Lorraine, which was tasty, but burned on one side. There are some good wines on the menu, but you will need to order by the glass or bottle.

    Dined on 1/30/2014
Amelie provides a huge selection of wine that you can choose and put together a wine flight of your own. Mix and match between red, white, sparkling wine etc ... which is really a great way for you to taste wine from a broad spectrum. I had the fish platter which requires more thought in assembling them. There are 3 different kinds but seems like they are all made of the same type of fish: sardines/anchovies, all very heavy in texture and taste.

My wife and I were looking for a location to have some wine and food and this place seemed to have gotten good reviews. We were very pleased and will definitely return. The wine list is extensive but easy to read. And for happy hour, you can select three generous pours from their wines by the glass as a custom flight. We have two flights and several small dishes and it was very reasonably priced. It was in a vibrant area and a nice walk back to Bart.

We made reservations for Tuesday, which seemed like overkill when we came in to empty tables, but the place quickly filled up! The ambiance is great, and it definitely has a date vibe with a lot of couples. Happy hour is from 5:30 to 7, and the flights of wine are $10, which is quite reasonable. We also had the $20 happy hour meat and cheese plate, which had ample portions and was delicious. While our server was more than happy to customize our flights of wine, I wish he had explained more about what each one was instead of just rattling them off. But overall, it was a great experience and I will definitely be returning.

A girlfriend and I made a reservation at 8pm on Saturday. By the looks of how crowded it was, I'd say we would not be sitting anytime soon. However less than 10 minutes later, we were shown to our table. And not before the gentleman hosting made sure we had wine in hand to visit while waiting. Flatbread was tasty, but the ravioli that isn't really ravioli with truffles - DIVINE. The place is a bit loud - but in a fun way.
