  • Public Transit: Glacier Valley Transit (GVT) operates a year-round transportation busing system with fixed route service in Girdwood, Alaska. GVT is owned and operated by Girdwood Transportation, LLC and leases employees from Alyeska Resort. GVT is made possible by a grant from the Federal Transit Authority and The Alaska Department of Transportation.

  • "On New Year's Eve, 2013, our party of four chose to eat at The Ponds Cafe buffet for dinner @ 6pm. Setting aside the fact that the buffet ran short of food, it was the 20% gratuity charge that left us with the decision that we do not expect to return. Typically, a gratuity charge is added to large parties; we were a party of four. Typically, a gratuity charge is added to the bill when there is full-service. It was a buffet. Typically, a 20% gratuity charge is reserved for outstanding service. Again, the buffet was not full-service. In our opinion, the gratuity charge was a hidden cost, and certainly a surprise when we received the bill."

  • "The period from October to mid-November is the shoulder season for the Alyeska Resort, The hotel tried to improve its dining options by opening up the Pond Steakhouse for 5 weeks. It probably should not have bothered. The food was average (The steak quality was OK, but it was not cooked to temperature.) and the service was a disaster. Our server did not appear for 15 minutes after we were seated and only when we asked the hostess if she could find her. The night was salvaged when an unusual drink order brought the Bar Manager to our table. She asked how things were going and we were not shy about detailing our experience. She basically took responsibility for our table going well out of her way, to make the remainder of the evening better."

  • "I had directly talked to someone over email regarding the seating request, this was after a huge confusion w/ the reservation details and the restaurant actually guaranteed me that me and my husband will actually be dining with the seating that I had requested.When we got there, the hostess, told us that the table meant for us has been occupied. This occasion was special in a way that my husband is in the army and we finally got a weekend to spend time together so we figured going away to the resort and trying out this restaurant was a great idea. Everything else was great, food, waiter service,& a great disappointment goes to the restaurant management. Really? When you guarantee something, make sure you follow through. hence, RESERVATION!"
