Diner Reviews
  • "Very noisy. We stayed for 1 1/2 hrs and couldn't have stayed more than that due to the noise level."

  • "Food was good. Way too loud to have a civil conversation. Food was very good. Waiter was snobby but this is Wellesley. Hostess slightly snobby. I hate that. If the noise was less I could take the snobbery. "

  • "Alta Strada is one of the best restaurants in the suburbs. The food is consistent and delicious. I like that you can order half portions so there are more things to taste. I pastas and pizzas are superb. This time we had 3 appetizers, beets, asparagus, and cauliflower and we will eat the leftovers on a salad tonight. Don't be afraid to order extra to take home."

  • "A little of almost everything from the antipasti menu is a must :), but we almost never skip the perfect prosciutto served with fig jam. Salads were balanced and just the right size. Pastas were al dente and perfectly seasoned. We never leave here unhappy!"

  • "We went for the first time to celebrate a family members birthday. The restaurant is very upbeat and lively. We got there at 6:30 and most of the families with small children were on the way out. The next wave to come in was a mixture of families and friends but not so much with small children. The service was awesome! I was very impressed with the food as it was very good and I had not heard too much about the restaurant before dining there. We will dine there again!"

  • "Really appreciated the handmade pasta. The sauces were great, but the actual PASTA was amazing! New fave, absolutely! Thank you for being so wonderful to my 5 year old as well!"

  • "We've dined here a numerous amount of time and have always enjoyed our choices. A must for us is the Thinly Sliced Prosciutto with Fig Jam and Crostini and the Prosciutto and Arugula Pizza. Service is always impeccable and courteous and they will do anything to help make your dining experience enjoyable. My favorite pasta is the Spicy Chitarra with Lobster, Shrimp, Tomato, and Basil."

  • "We recently dined at Alta Strada. It was a busy Saturday night and our party of four had a wonderful meal. I ordered the halibut. It was perfectly cooked and delicious. Two of the diners order a spicy pasta and the other ordered the salmon. Everyone was very pleased with their meals. The service was great too! Try it out - great for date night!"

  • "I was born and raised in Italy. I expect a restaurant which describes itself as "Italian" to really embody the regional cuisines of Italy and carry in America with minimal distortions. Alta Strada has my approval. The food quality is awesome. starting from the bread and the EVOO dip. The starters and the primi (small dishes) are really nice samples of italian regional cuisine, mostly based on cheese and vegetables. The wine list is refreshing - without being too long - because it carries the wines that we italian drink every day, such as Falanghina or Nebbiolo. It's nice to see the wine served in little carafes - just like most trattorie would back at home. The only flaw is the price, a little higher than I would expect for a casual place."

  • "Alta Strada has good food and it is reasonably priced. Problem is that while the wine list has multiple choices, there are no moderately priced wine choices. The wine is more "expensive" than it should be to match the prices on the menu. Least expensive Red wine was $48...."

  • "Food was quite good. Desserts fantastic. Really good sangria but pricey at $11/glass. Waitress was great. Had to wait 25 mins to be seated even though we had a reservation. They could've comp'ed us a drink or dessert but they didn't seem that concerned. Noisy, happening scene."

  • "My wife and I have gone here twice, each time to celebrate some occasion and have really enjoyed it. We decided that next time we will bring our kids since we saw some families there on a busy Sat night scene. If pasta bolognese is on the menu it is a must. It takes them three days to make it. Our service was great also. The waiter suggested a wine that was much less expensive than the one I was thinking about and his choice was perfect. An assortment of sorbet/gelato rounded out the night in an interesting way. One of them was a basil gelato and it was delicious. Who knew?"

  • "It's the consistency that keeps bringing us back. My husband & I started by sharing 3 different apps. My favorite was the marinated anchovies. What a simple, yet flavorful little dish. For entrees, he enjoyed his fish (halibut, I think) & my pasta w/ clams was scrumptious. We finished off a bottle of red wine together. No dessert this evening. Service in the beginning was rather off-putting. There was no introduction given from our server. He simply came to the table & asked for our drink order. That was a total turn off. However, he made his lack of personality up by being very efficient at his job. Never did he let our wine glasses empty and his customer service was excellent. Not the friendliest fellow, but easily deserved a 15% tip."

  • "While the for is outstanding at this local treasure, it is the staff that make it wonderful. Everyone genuinely cares about your experience, learning about you and helping you learn new things. The management and staff have made the specialty drinks at the bar something that everyone needs to experience."

  • "This is a better than average neighborhood restaurant that is a good place to meet up with friends. Fun, lively atmosphere. We were seated on time with reservation, and manager was very responsive when we noted we were very cold in our corner - heat was turned up immediately. The waiter was very knowledgable about food and wine, but did push high end specials in both categories. The food is very good, but not exceptional, and for what it is, overpriced. Overall, this isn't a place I would frequent, but it's good on occasion that I want to meet up with friends in this neighborhood."

  • "We were in town for a business meeting and staying in the Natick area. i was hoping to find something which displayed Boston's reputation for food but without having to drive into the city. Alta Strada fit the bill. Located in charming Wellsley, the decor is open yet warm and inviting, the service was pleasant, and the food was delicious. We sampled a couple of the anit pasta items then split a pizza and a pasta... makes me look forward to my next trip to town."

  • "I had heard about Alta Strada from friends who have dined there and had heard nothing but positive reviews, so for a special date I decided to try it for myself. Boy was I not disappointed, it went above and beyond expectations and my taste buds were super satisfied. From the start of the meal with the House Ricotta with Crostini to the closing notes of the Mascaporeos there wasnt a dish that wasnt Five stars quality!! My date a gourmet in her own right said it may have been the best meal she ever had eaten. I know that we will definitely be going back there in the Future!! If you love quality food prepared in a uniquely cozy environment with a friendly and attentive wait staff then Alta Strada is the place for you!"

  • "In a town where people like to go out to eat, it is a shame to have a nice restaurant doing so little. The food is fine: not exciting, not interesting, not worth eating twice. It's too expensive to operate as a boring kitchen away from home and it's too expensive to want to go there for such dull food and expensive wine."

  • "Alta Strada (translates to High Street) is a great italian restaurant in Wellesley Square. I have been here with groups and all just shared appetizers and got drinks. Recently was with my husband and we shared the excellent crispy veal meatballs and then had pasta dishes. The thai lemon basil sorbet that we shared for dessert was amazing. The only (small) not so great thing is their chairs are not that comfortable."

  • "Our server was knowledgable regarding the menu and asked for help on a wine recommendation. I am not very familiary with Italian wines but they recommended and I enjoyed a delicious bottle with my fantastic papardelle and duck dinner. I didn't notice a kid portion of the menu but saw many tables with children and my two were treated very well. I would highly recommend Alta Strada."

  • "Quite the place for dining out with a group. Not for quiet romantic dinners because of open layout of kitchen and dining area. The ambience is modern ecclectic. But what really is attractive is fresh pasta, sauces, and broths The dessert options are to die for! Recommend the butterscotch "budino". Delectable! Tad bit expensive but you get what you pay fot. Service was very good."

  • "Nice neighborhood restaurant with good ambience that would work for a date night. Decent vegetarian selection from the menu (salads, pizza, pasta). salads were well made. Mushroom ravioli (lune) was awesome. The limoncello (made in-house) cocktail was awesome - smooth yet stiff. Desserts seemed pre-packaged (perhaps not) but weren't anything to die for - could be avoided if you don't need to end with something sweet."

  • "Very nice with an interesting menu- some very special pastas and pizza creations. Fun and vibrant dining room - not quiet - and the table are set very close to each other - if you don't mind that you will be happy. A little on the expensive side for pizza but this is not your average pizza - well worth it. the small plates were very flavorful and fun to try."

  • "We went for lunch and found the food to be excellent, except for the anti pasti which was average (except for the homemade ricotta which was a standout). The salmon was probably the best I've ever had. Service was really attentive and professional. The room was like a warm neighborhood bistro. Overall a really nice experience."
