Good Food! Good Wine! Good Life! is the mantra at 626 on Rood...Modern American Cuisine and Wine Bar. Grand Junction's premier restaurant and wine bar offers casual, yet elegant surroundings with an exciting menu concept. Located one block north of Main street in Grand Junction, guests can stop in and enjoy the sharing plate menu or a traditional dining experience with an ever-changing, eclectic, seasonal menu. Sharing plates of lobster mac and cheese, Ahi eggrolls, deconstructed shrimp taco or full entrée to include Black Angus New York Strip, Roast Rack of Lamb, House made Squid Ink Pasta as well as Sweet Potato Agnolotti, Vegetarian and gluten free items and fresh fish that is flown in twice a week from Honolulu. 626 features over 40 wines by the glass with the list done in "flights". Come for lunch and have a half glass! Burgers, organic salads, creative sandwiches are served six days a week. If you have a special request whether it dietary or occasion, just give us a call.   • "I have eaten at 626 multiple times and this time took some friends we dine with regularly who had not been there. We enjoyed our experience and will be back again! You can't go wrong with their foie gras and the fresh tomato salad was over the top, obviously highlighted by the fresh local heirloom's. The fresh fish entrée was cooked perfectly and really good. My wife had the squid ink pasta with scallops and was my favorite of the table!"

  • "We enjoyed ourselves this past Sunday for Easter brunch at 626. Food was delicious, service (as always) was fantastic and since the weather was beautiful we were able to sit outside on the patio and enjoy the sunshine. We love the fact that when we bring our 3 year old to 626 she can have a nice selection of well prepared "kid's food" instead of the typical fried food and burgers you find at other restaurants. She had grilled free range chicken with peas and carrots and since it was Easter they added some jelly beans as a treat for her. Quick tip...they do not offer high chairs or booster seats. So be prepared or you will end up holding your young ones while they eat."

  • "Our meat entrees were excellent-- rack of lamb, pork tenderloin, and beef tenderloin. However, the beet salad lacked pizazz. We did not order from the tasting menu as it was not well-balanced. Our wine selection turned out to be just so-so, but to be fair we did not follow the waitress recimmendation. We have enjoyed their wine flights in the past."

  • "What a find, driving through Grand Junction on our way back to Carbondale when we blindly made this reservation on open table. 626 on Rood, was not in the bustling old city area, but that didn't matter at all. The ambiance, decor, and details, down to the olive hand cream in their luxurious bathrooms, made this place worth our stop even if we had to go out of our way. Then the food and wine was served to perfection, leaving us practically licking our plates. From breads to dessert, the chef had our tastebud's full attention. We can't wait to drive the 2 hours to visit again!"

  • "Without question 626 On Rood is the best restaurant in Grand Junction and would be top notch in any city. There are always some real (not same as last visit) interesting specials. I often choose one of the fish specials that have clearly been brought in fresh and unique, like Calf sea bass, Wahoo from Florida, Hebi Shortbill Marlin from Hawaii (all checkout sustainable on seafoodwatch) . We also have favorites like the pistachio goat cheese and the duck confit appetizers. The wine flights are fun and provide the opportunity to find a new favorite. The dining area is small but the noise is average. In the summer the outdoor seating can be enjoyable. The wait staff is generally good although occasionally too informal (Grand Junction style)."

  • "I wanted to finded a nice place with great food that wasn't just your average steak house or Italian restaurant. It was my birthday and I wanted to go someplace where I could wear heals. :). 626 on Rood was great! The staff was very friendly and the food and wine were fantastic (I recommend the buffalo tenderloin and the beef roast!) I wouldn't say this was a nice quiet romantic place but we were seated in the corner and away from the couple tables that had 4-6 people. I would also recommend this place if you just want drinks and greats apps as there were a lot of people at the bar and they seemed to be enjoying their time as well. Overall this is a great place and I'm already looking forward to going back."

  • "We celebrated our wedding anniversary with 626 on Rood, our first time dining here. It's a fairly small restaurant but nicely done inside. We were waited on immediately AND our waitperson wished us a happy anniversary and knew the particulars of our drink order before even talking to us due to reserving on line with Open Table. We had an appetizer, salad and entree and each was perfectly timed. The striped orange marlin was out of this world! They surprised us with a lemon creme brulee which also was outstanding. Our only negative comment would be the "energetic" noise level. If you want a quiet romantic evening over dinner, this is not your place. At times we struggled to hear each other. We still had a wonderful time."

  • "What an enjoyable experience we had from start to finish. We had the non traditional Caesar Salad (not on the menu but they offered it) Excellent. Not a big portion but just enough not to spoil the entree. Had the trout with roasted veggies. It was a huge portion and we are glad we split it. The wine list is amazing. Our dessert was outstanding too… the chocolate pudding. Our server Tom was so knowledgeable and kept good tabs on us. All the staff and managers were so friendly and welcoming. We were well taken care of!"

  • "It was our first time in Grand Junction and I wanted a special dinner with an opportunity to sample some of the area's delicious wines. What a find! They have a great wine selection with local and not so local wines. The food was fantastic and so was the service. Our waitress was very helpful in helping me select a wine to drink with my entree. She was also a big help in assisting in a dinner selection-I really couldn't decide because everything sounded wonderful. My husband and I can't wait to go back!"

  • "We ate here with friends following the Tour of the Moon bike ride. The dinner was fantastic and the bar staff was amazing. Our dinner was so good that we actually came back the next night. It will be our go to spot next year after the Tour. If we lived closer, this would be our regular spot."

  • "Great, reliable restaurant in Grand Junction. The food is always imaginative and delicious. I had the grilled peach caprese salad (lots of peaches and just a few shreds of mozzerella, but when asked, the server brought more) and my husband had the spinach salad - very fresh. We had the grilled shrimp and beef roast entree. The shrimp was light and flavorful, and the beef dish, while a bit dry, was a hearty and delicious dish - perfect for a rainy day. A bit pricey, but we always end up here when on the Western slope."

  • "We came to Grand Junction from Denver, to go to the much anticipated Palisade Winefest. We went to 626 to celebrate our 16-year wedding anniversary. When we arrived, we were promptly greeted with a smile (and a menu with our names on it and wishing us a happy anniversary),then taken to a table inside the very-crowded restaurant. It was too loud for my me so I requested an outdoor table and that was the perfect choice. Dominique was our waiter who had a wealth of knowledge about the food and wine. He was fantastic! My only complaint is that the portions are very small for the price and I thought $20 for a glass of one of the better pinots was a little excessive."
