5A5 Steak LoungeWonderful experienceEverything was great - food, wine, service, atmosphere. Love the Happy hour at the lounge as well. Excellent!6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat steakhouse restaurantWe had an early dinner on Sunday, the restaurant was quiet, the food was delicious and the service excellent.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AM5A5 SteakhouseThe food is top notch, the service is incredible and each bit of food and sip of wine is better than the last.
We went for to 5A5 for Dine About Town and could not believe how exquisite the menu was. We had the wine pairing with the DAT and it was worth every penny. The pinot grigio was incredibly crisp and refreshing paired with our bacon clam chowder soup. The red blend paired with our NY steak was also mouth watering. The NY steak was beautifully marbled and topped with carmelized onions and a bacon demi glaze. For dessert we had a muscat paired with a dessert trio of molten brown, tapioca and chocolate moouse that was amazing.
The service and our server Leila was amazing. She explained each pairing in detail before serving.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat restaurant! My boyfriend and I went to 5A5 for the first time because we also wanted to try Dine About Town. We had the caesar salad as a starter, which was good, but probably had a little too much dressing on it. For our entree, we both chose the rib eye and that was fantastic! The meat was so juicy and tender and cooked to perfection. The mustard seeds on top were a great add as well. Lastly, the dessert was a trio of fondant, butterscotch tapioca (best I've ever had), and a chocolate passion fruit mousse. Overall, the experience was outstanding - the ambiance, the food, and the service. I would highly recommend 5A5 to family and friends.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMLiked the bar and lounge moreWe did the Dine About Town and got there a bit early. Really enjoyed the bar and lounge and piano playing. Happy Hour prices and great appetizers and drinks in the lounge. We enjoyed the style and the friendliness of the lounge staff. Next time we'll probably just do the lounge and bar. Did Dine About Town menu and the Clam Chowder was outstanding buy my wife's Cod and my steak were really not to our liking. Steak had a lot of fat and I ordered medium but it came very rare. Waitress was less than friendly- not unfriendly - but kind of "distant". Had to pay for a side, marbled potatoes, even on the DAT menu. Marbled potatoes were like potatoe skins really but whole potatoes. Desert Trio was kind of "iffy" as well. Lounge next time.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMSolid steakhouseI went for Dine About Town. It was good, but the steak could have been warmer. The plate was hot, but the steak was definitely not as hot as the plate. The steak was solid, but I have had better steaks. My friend ordered the fish and it was delicious! I think the fish was better than the steak.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMFoodThe Truffle Fries are amazing. Their drinks are average. The service is decent.
I had the Boneless Ribeye medium rare on the rare side, which came out deliciously. However, I felt like the sauces that they added on top did not complement the steak itself. The steak on its own was delicious enough on its own to be honest.
Also, the lighting was very dim and "romantic" but it was too dim.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMBest steak restaurant in SanBest steak restaurant in San Francisco hands down. We will be back on our next visit to the Bay area.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMSolidIf you are looking for a great meal with quality cuts of beef and great service...look no further. One of the best prime rib dinners we've had...melt in your mouth good!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely fabulousWe came here as a group of 7 girls and we had a fantastic time. The food was a bit on the pricey side but the service was phenomenal. Our waitress would stop by every now and then to check up on us. She made sure we knew the most popular items and the must-try's. During the end of our dinner, the waitress provided one of my girlfriends and I a congratulations short cake for our graduation! Very generous indeed! We would most definitely return but it will be for another special occasion. I feel that the type of atmosphere is made for special events.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMBomb food!My friend recommended this place and so I decided to try it. Right when I walked in I was satisfied already by the surroundings, very friendly and the host was wonderful. The food was OUTSTANDING! Good customer service and as a waitress myself I know what I look for and 5A5 has it.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMexcellant steakhouse; oneexcellant steakhouse; one of the best in SF. Great drinks, wine, apps, etc.
my opinion forget house of prime rib, ruth crhirs steak house, etc and go here. it is pricey but so are the o thers snd the food is soooooooooooo much better here5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat it is...My bone-in ribeye had a section of silverskin/fascia that I do not normally associate with that cut; and though it was juicy and well-cooked (medium rare) it was on the lean side and lacked the marbling and developed flavor of a quality ribeye. The truffled mac 'n cheese was not as special as I had hoped (a bad night?); though the happy hour ersters and red wine (cab?) were nice. Service was just the right amount of attendant and efficient. I'm looking forward to finishing the large piece of meat I brought home (that ribeye was huge!).5/27/2013 12:00:00 AM1st time Gem - perfect for foodiesWe were on an evening layover and came across 5A5 on Open Table and decided to taxi in from the Airport hotel we were staying at to celebrate my birthday. While our reservation was for 5:30, our early arrival was accommodated without issue and welcomed. The evening started with a wondeful wine selection, followed by incredible food selections. We had the steak and with was top notch. Finished off with a wonderful desert for my birthday. Lynnette was an absolute treat to have as our server. We actually ordered a cheese plate to take back with us to our hotel, where we broke that at out for a nitecap at the bar....what a find. Thank you 5A5 for our evening.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a find! This restaurant has existed for three years without my having discovered until this past week. What a gem! The food was delicious, expertly prepared, and the service was very attentive and friendly without being overbearing. What more can you ask? I'll definitely be eating at 5A5 again.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's all about the food...Second time here.... came with a friend about a year or more ago. I remembered the side dishes.. not the entree. In fact, it was almost the same again. The service was impeccable and the appetizer (scallops) and the side (creamy spinach). The prime rib was average.. but I may be losing my affection for Prime Rib.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat eats and ambiance.Food alway good; great for celebrations and service is always attentive and good. Small selection on the menu but steaks are excellent. Foods pricey but worth the price.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed ourselvesFood was very good but a bit expensive. Service was excellent. We found the a/c a bit too cold. All in all enjoyed ourselves.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dinning experienceI highly recommend the Prime Roast, super delicious and succulent!5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious WaguI always go to 5A5 when I come to SF. Great meal and outstanding service.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMA perfect eveningI cannot speak highly enough of 5A5! My boyfriend and I were celebrating our anniversary and we requested private seating or a private booth. The request was met perfectly and set the tone for the evening. Our waitress, Leila, was knowledgable, attentive, and incredibly warm during the entire evening. We were given two or three plates, compliments of the chef, and the food was absolutely incredibly. We both got the filets and they were cooked perfectly, as were our other courses. The music in the background provided a wonderful setting without being overwhelming. I would recommend this restaurant without hesitation and will definitely be returning!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMA5A+You're not going to eat here every week, but it is a great experience and you simply must enjoy the A5 Wagyu. Unique and delicious!5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was the first time tryingThis was the first time trying Wagyu beef, it is amazing and very well prepared.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMSteak Lounge-An Appetizing ConceptAn excellent experience. I'd made a reservation for 8, but had a couple of extras decide they wanted to come. I called and they easily accommodated moving my group up to 10 by pushing my reservation back 15 minutes. When we arrived, we actually ended up with 11 plus a baby! The staff didn't blink. They were very accommodating.
I was surprised by the live pianist in the bar area and really enjoyed that while we waited for our whole party to gather.
The waiter was spot on and easy going with a group so large. The food was good. A little pricey for a slightly above average meal. But, it was fun that it was well worth it!
They even brought out a few extras for the table to nibble on. Plus they brought bday treats with candles!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMCame on a Sunday, so probablyCame on a Sunday, so probably much more quiet than how it is normally. Steak was excellent and very filling. Very tasty appetizers too. Took my mom here while she was visiting. I would pass on the wagyu beef, though. Far too rich.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMpleasant surpriseSan Fran has no shortage of good restaurants. We went here based on the hotel concierge recommendation "with a vibrant ambiance". Glad we did. Our server was excellent - friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. The manager even came by a few times to greet us. I had the wagyu sashimi, kona kampachi cerviche. The table also had steak and tataki duo for mains, along with truffle fries, swiss chard and muushroom as sides. All were excellent - definitely beyond my expectations.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWe took our son and friendsWe took our son and friends to celebrate his 18th birthday. It's definitely an upscale restaurant and a great experience. The ambiance is understated elegance and contemporary with a great live piano as background music. The food is very, very good with an Asian touch and the service is excellent. They did a superb job of accommodating a special food need for one member of the party and in general, the service was exceptionally attentive without being intrusive. The quality of the steak was excellent and the a great choice for meat lovers who are looking for a contemporary take on a steakhouse.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThe beet salad was one ofThe beet salad was one of the best. The Lobster tempura was perfectly cooked, no sauce needed. Our main entree, the wagyu crossbred 4 oz hit the spot. We were very pleased with our meal.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best RibEye in the country!Started off with some great happy hour appetizers. Had a nice booth, and we all ordered rib eyes. This was the best RibEye in my life. It was tender, not too fatty, well aged. Our waitress was fabulous, and constantly filled our ice teas, wine glasses, etc. Everyone in the restaurant was very service oriented. We'll definitely be back!!3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Real Kobe DealWanted to try based on the Kobe beef. It's real, from Japan, not just the technique. Served @ $30 an oz in 4oz increments. DELISH!!! Appetizers were great as well. You're going to pay, but it's a great experience. I brought my own wine. 1st 2 corkage @ $20/bottle. Don't bring just any wine. Look at the wine list and see if you can get it cheaper and bring it in. That's the way to go. Got to see Fmr. Mayor Willie Brown dining in as well.3/1/2013 12:00:00 AM5A5 SteakHouseThis was a great experience. The food was amazing. I recommend the bacon wrapped scallop appetizers and the maguro bite as a started. The Wagyu beef filet with truffle risotto literally melted in my mouth. I also recommend the lobster tempura as a side. Great wine list, the Argentinian Malbec was fantastic. For dessert, the L'Opera Verte with green tea and the Fondant Cake are a great way to end the evening. Great service. Leila, was an amazing waitress and was incredibly helpful. Fun restaurant and a pleasure to visit.2/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
