A word from 21 Main
For over twenty years, Lovin' Oven Celebrations, Long Island's premiere caterer, has built their reputation on superb cuisine, elegant locations and refined staff. Their newest venture, the elegant 21 Main Steakhouse, encompasses all these things. Set in a historic mansion in the heart of Sayville, Gerard Scollan and his partner Billy Reilly, have captured the glamour and service of an era gone by - with a modern twist. Gerard Scollan and Billy Reilly, have been in the Catering/Special events business for over twenty years and are the owners of Lovin' Oven Celebrations. Lovin' Oven is the food service provider at eight elegant locations, including the renowned Land's End in Sayville and Flowerfield in St. James.
For those who have experienced the quality and elegance of a Lovin'Oven event, and for those who have not yet had the pleasure, 21 Main will be a dining experience you will not soon forget.

  • "Have been here more than a few times and it's always been very good. The night I went it was just average. The bar is great and the cocktails were very good. The wait staff is very good. The calamari appetizer was delicious. The porterhouse was just very good. I'll chalk it up to a bad night. My guest had the same and stopped half way through. I'm sure if I told the waiter it wasn't good that they would have made another one but I don't do that in front of business clients. For the price there are other great places to try."

  • "This was our second visit to this restaurant, and it was a bit disappointing. Our first visit was much better. I started with the spinach salad. While not bad, the flavors just didn't seem to mesh well and the dressing overpowered. The four of us in our dining party each ordered a different entree. One ordered the salmon, another chicken and one the lamb chops. All enjoyed the meal with no real complaint. I ordered a delmonico steak. It came cooked to my liking, but it seemed to have a bit too much fat for my taste. I have definitely had better steaks elsewhere. But again, overall, not bad. We dined here on a Thursday night and it was very quiet with our party being the only ones there for most of our visit. The wait staff did a good job ."

The staff from the auto attendent through the entire experience were friendly and attentive but not overbearing. Our waiter was Tom and he was fantastic. Our meals were served hot and very tasty. The portions were large and we had lunch the next day. This is definately a place I shall return to. Thank you all for a wonderful evening."

  • "Beautiful decor...welcoming bar and staff and waiters. Nice happy people working there! Food was just perfect. Delicious salads...pear with blue cheese, and wonderful Caesar ..really outstanding. Steak very tender and done perfectly. salmon very good. But the 3 dish creme brûlée was out of this world as was the delicious coffee! It was a very posh restaurant without the NYC attitude.i loved every minute of it. Price was fine for a special occasion, and I will treat this restaurant as such."

  • "If you closed your eyes you would think you were eating in a top NYC restaurant. Beautiful presentation, quality food and knowledgeable servers all around. Lamb chops were cooked and seasoned to perfection. Dessert menu was even better. The pumpkin cheesecake will satisfy the pickiest person."

  • "I've been to 21 Main several times now and have loved it each and every time. I usually go a bit early to enjoy a great glass of wine or very well made cocktail at the comfortable bar before sitting down for dinner. The dining room is larger- and I'm one who doesn't like sitting in the middle of a room with people constantly walking back and forth... Luckily, each time I've been there, I haven't been seated in those areas. The cozy tables along the windows and even off of the bar area have been wonderful. The staff has always been warm and friendly and the waiters I've had there has always been there when something was needed- watchful, but not annoying service."

My wife had the special of Filet Mignon with twin lobster tails. She enjoyed it immensely. We had a beautiful time!!!"

  • "My wife and I went the day after Valentines day. We ordered off the menu. We had the 21 Main salad which was good but would ask for more cheese next time. The Tuna appetizer was....meh. I'd do something else next time. The Delmonico and Filet Mignon with three shrimp did not disappoint. The cappuccino, I don't know, seemed a little thin. Stick with the ice cream for dessert."

  • "My boyfriend treated me to 21 Main for Valentine's Day. It was our first time eating there but our friends & family gave great reviews. They were right. The food was delicious. I ordered the stuff shrimp, it was amazing. My boyfriend ordered steak (which I don't eat) but he loved it & the portion was generous. My only disappointment was our appetizer, the lobster wontons. They serve 3 wontons in the app which is odd for an appetizer and the actual wontons were smaller than a fortune cookie. You could it all in one bite. And you could hardly taste the lobster, so I don't feel it was worth the price. But overall I enjoyed the food, especially dessert, & the staff were extremely attentive."

  • "The food at 21 Main never disappoints. we had the porterhouse and ribeye along with mashed potatoes and string beans with pancetta everything was delicious. cooked perfectly to order. the waitress was a bit rushed but all in all We will go back there on special occasions. $220 for two with a bottle of wine appetizers dinner dessert and cordials. We didn't get the cream Spanish spinach or asparagus this time but they are always perfect as well. I wish they would bring back the seafood tower it was one of my favorites."

  • "What a gem! My husband and I went to 21 Main for a Dinner night. There was a mix of clothes from casual (jeans and a night shirt) to dress (dresses and slacks with shirts/ties). The food was excellent. We had the risotto and Burrata. The Burrata was delicious and the risotto was amazing and so creamy. I had the skirt steak with balsamic and the steak was delicious enough that I didn't need the added balsamic on the steak. My husband had the duck and it was fantastic. My husband and I like to take our time when we have a date night dinner and we were never rushed. The staff was friendly and inviting from valet, to coach check to food service. I would recommend this place for a nice night out."

  • "There were highlights and disappointments to our dining experience. There was no welcoming ambience. The hostess checked us in and didn't direct us to the bar or tell us it would be a few minutes. She immediately checked in two other parties. Very awkward. Our server was just an order taker with a smile. No recommendations were given and she seemed rushed. Not what I expected from a nice restaurant. The salads were very tasty. The sea bass was nothing short than amazing!! That was definitely a dish that I'd come back for. The sirloin was, however, disappointing. It was dry and tasteless. No homemade steak sauce was served which I expected for a steakhouse. I'd go back for the other house dishes...but not their steak."

  • "We took our 14 year old daughter Victoria to dinner for her birthday. She picked this restaurant as her choice and we had a great time. The food was great & the service was absolutely perfect. The waiter gave us just enough time to enjoy each part of the meal and made sure a candle was placed on Victoria's dessert. They sang happy birthday and we had a wonderful time. The service was poor , unfriendly and totally understaffed, my stuffed shrimp was gross and sent it back! we did eat the Crab Cocktail appetizer , which was OK. There are so many wonderful Steakhouses on Long Island and this in NOT one of them!"

  • "This was a last minute idea for dinner and I had heard such great things. It did not disappoint. The calamity was delicious and did not dipping sauces, which were equally delicious. The portions were just right. I wishing could have enjoyed just one more Bute of everything because I didn't want to forget the flavor. The filet mignon in the chili rub was cooked to perfection and so flavorful. The staff was great. They didn't hover and were around when needed. It was such great night."

Quality was good and the presentation beautiful. I do need to mention the crab cakes seemed frozen, but I would definitely come back just won't order crab cakes. Is a place where you can get a quality dinner without going broke."

  • "My boyfriend & I went to the restaurant to celebrate our anniversay on 12/6/13. We were seated in the main dining room next to an EXTREMELY LOUD holiday party. EVERY table around us was extremely unhappy with the noice level & lack of caring from the staff who were notified of the complaints. One couple put it perfectly when they stated, "I feel like I am in the middle of a child's party at the McDonald's play area." I understand there were multiple parties that evening & its the time of year but this was unacceptable. Immediately upon shoveling our dinner down, we hailed the waiter over for our check, without even considering a dessert or additional cocktail. We were looking forward to a nice evening celebration & we left with a headache."

  • "We had a party of 8 and had a great time. I called Audrey's bakery and had a cake delivered to the restaurant the day of. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The food was impectable. The appetizer ribs fell off the bone and the risotto was creamy delicious. I had the filet mignon and it was cooked perfectly. Almost didn't need a knife bc it was so tender. The birthday man had the Delmonico ribeye and it was such a hit! The remainder of our party were also very satisfied w their meals. My one and only complaint was that the table shook whenever someone used their knife to cut their meat. I had read a few negative reviews lately and was nervous. But I was again very happy and satisfied with 21 Main. I will definitely return there."

  • "The was the best meal I've had in a long time. I must say my steak (filet mignon) was better than the recent steaks I've had at insignia and tellers. I'm so picky especially when meat is fatty. My steak had zero fat in it. I was able to eat the entire piece and it was delicious!! I will definitely be going back!"

  • "i have been to 21 Main a number of times and have enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The steaks are very good. I was not however impressed with their Thanksgiving dinner. The entire staff seemed to be "off". The bread was cold, the turkey was very good, but the gravy was too salty and ruined the turkey. Mashed potatoes aren't as much fun without gravy. The pies were so cold that the coconut custard was gummy. I'll go back, but never on a holiday."
