The food is amazing. The menu is small, and they were out of several options, which was a problem. Still, I would come back many times, since the choices I made were fantastic. Wine list is very limited too. But the quality of the fish and the beef carpaccio did compensate it all.

ZZ's is an exclusive restaurant from Torrisi & Sons. It's pricey but they are giving you a different experience than anywhere in the City. They have a great variety of mostly raw seafood. Don't be fooled by the name. This is far from a clam bar. You could easily have a great meal here without even eating a clam. The highlights were the tuna toast and the beef carpaccio with black truffles, lobster and sea urchin. They also have great cocktails. Our favorites were the coconut and the Curaçao. The only disappointing part of the evening was they were out of uni toast and the razor clam dish.

A very intimate space, but not crowded by any means. Cocktails were wonderful, I went with the Sarsaparilla and my dining partner enjoyed the Coconut (because how could we not?). Food was good, though not worth the steep price. The trout roe was by far the freshest and most delicious thing we had, however the toast itself was soggy with butter. Quite unfortunate. The seared scallops were strangely flavorless without their peculiar sauce. I do wish we'd gone for a ceviche dish. The tuna, foie gras and bone marrow carpaccio was unsurprisingly decadent and very satisfying. However, once again, the toast was drenched in butter and rendered pretty much inedible. They recommend 4-6 dishes per 2 guests, but I'd say grab a small bite beforehand and go to ZZ's for cocktails and a plate or three.

Terrific dining experience. I enjoyed avery minute of being there. Jason and the rest of the staff made it an amazing night. Going to be trying their other restaurant Carbone next week!!

This place is a very interesting experience. Very good to go once for that, but probably not headed back. It is the smallest restaurant I have ever been in. It has a special experience feel. Unfortunately, with two empty two-tops, we were told our places were at the bar against the wall. When we said we would have a drink and eat elsewhere, they begrudgingly let us have a real table. (We had a reservation.) The food is exceptional, but more like snack portions than dinner. All in all, fun, unusual experience--but not really dinner.

The food is amazing and the drinks are ridiculous however the finance bros at the bar just ruin the ambiance and make you feel extra dumb about dropping such ridiculous $ on the food. The room is very loud that evening and that really killed the vibe.

Two Michelin stars. Cocktails & raw bar. Caviar wth mascarpone. Fois gras & fatty tuna. Uni toast... Tough to get a rezzy. Only 12 seats in the place. Be prepared to spend $200 per person and person - for a few hours of pure bliss. My favorite among many hits by Major food group.

Great experience in this tucked away gem on Thompson St. Seating for 12 and fabulous, attentive service. The Cocktail menu is amoung the most innovative in the City. Each offering more lavish then the last. The food, primarily crudo, was the absolute equal to the liquid offerings. The intimate space and great vibe contribute to special evening. Go ahead and take the plunge!

While I enjoyed many aspects of the experience, the inside joke nature of it ultimately rose to the level of off putting. I admire the wit, intelligence and creativity of this restaurant group, and was interested in ZZ's because of their reputation. The name threw me off from the reality that this was a tiny spot that was emulating ( in a very droll NYC fashion) a super high end sashimi restaurant,with its elaborate mostly raw fish preparations and nose bleed prices. Again, the food had much to recommend itself flavor wise, but the gestalt of the place was too theatrical and presumptuous about its value. I get it that value wasn't really meant to be part of the conversation but the name felt like a disingenuous ruse. I'm an experienced eater so I can't say that the place was entirely inexplicable but I see no need to go back or recommend it. Only for the very rich it seems. Given the size, perhaps that's all they want or need it to be.
