The house cured anchovies with celery, Parma & olives which was bland.
Arugula salad delicious.
Main dish: Ricotta Gnocchi with spinach and saffron butter sauce was swimming in what appeared to be water. NOT good. Passmore Ranch trout was amazingly delicious.
Bread: They bring two slices at a time. Really?
Dessert a bit disappointing too....a chocolate Gateau with delicious whipped cream but a bit dry. We've eaten here many times and still will.. Service excellent
a San Francisco staple with impeccable service and hospitality.
I was looking forward to taking my Dutch friends to Zuni as I have heard so much about it in the past. We were greeted and seated against the window which was pleasant. Waiter came over and asked for our drink order, I had a lemonade and my friend had a wine, so far so good. I ordered the burger, my friend ordered a bowl or polenta and a salad and my other friend ordered the pizza. Food was just so-so, the salad my friend had looked like one you could get in a cafeteria. My burger was decent, but at the end of the day, it was just a burger but on a square bun. Pizza was just ok. Waiter came over once to see if we wanted dessert, but we weren't interested. Service staff felt a bit snooty for no reason whatsoever except for the guy that refilled our water, he was actually the most personable. Check sat there for about 10 minutes before we actually had to ask them to pick it up. Between the food and the service and the amount for lunch, we'd rather much be somewhere else. Zuni is a icon to sf, but that was like 20 years ago. Menu needs a serious update and so does the staff.
Great food, this as many times is a great place for a mother daughter lunch. Love it, love it love it. Also they always sear me at the table I request....
We have a friend from Out of town who is gluten intolerant and pescatarian. She had the fish which was a bit overpriced and not that well seasoned. We had roasted fish a few nights ago which was brilliant and 7 less. Ambiance as always was lovely and service impeccable. Overall options r much better fir meat and wheat eaters.
I highly recommend this restaurant , the food , the ambience , the music, everything. I ordered a tuna that was amazing . I really enjoyed here , if you choose this restaurant I am sure you won't fail.
Chicken for two - nothing is better. Amazing fries too.
Zuni is always a great choice when you can get a reservation. Consistently fresh and exciting. Hard to go wrong with the drinks or food.
Delicious rabbit dish!
Alyssa was lovely and helpful. We had a wonderful time!
Staff was terrific. Food was great and really good wine list. Love this restaurant as it's a San Francisco gem!
I am giving one star for one reason. This establishment does not support the working class, nor it’s workers.
San Francisco has imposed a tax that enables the City to provide universal health care. Zuni Cafe could simply choose to treat this as it would any other cost of doing business, like buying toilet paper or paying rent, fold it into their bottom line and or raise prices, and carry on. they instead choose to passive aggressively call attention to it via a one line statement on the bottom of the menu whining about a 5% surcharge being added to the bill. This is a slap in the face to most of their staff whether they benefit from the Healthy San Francisco initiative or not.
Respect your workers, Zuni Cafe, and I’ll come back.
Bartenders are wonderful as well as the rest of
the staff. Love the menu and the local seasonal fare. Oyster selection is extensive however above average pricing kept us from ordering them.
We were initially seated near the kitchen, but the staff was helpful in seating us upstairs at a cozy table on the alley side...perfect...everything was great...particularly the oysters & the bass dinner...thank you for making my B Day special!
Birthday dinner. Seated on the second floor--only three of us but we couldn't hear each other...and hearing is not an issue in our group. Oysters were delicious as was the duck. The highlight was our server, Julia, who was top notch and put us on to a great Sancerre. Arugula salad was overdressed and the nocchi was disappointing. Not planning a return trip any time soon.
I highly recommend the hamburger. Zuni has the best hamburger around.
Delicious and lovely!
It went very smoothly.
Elegant, excellent, very good ambience and food. We had a lovely time
Amazing experience. We had the best seat in the house wat hing the kitchen staff. Of clurse we had th chicken and it was
everything I had hoped for. The staff was wonderful. I also got to talk with the kitchen staff and ask questions.
Everything was great except we felt very cramp at our table for 4 upstairs in the alcove.
Outstanding in every respect: excellent food, attentive and professional servers, welcoming and efficient staff at reception.
Dining at Zuni is always wonderful!
Food was great. Chicken was fantastic.
We ate at Zuni Cafe after seeing a show at the SHN Orpheum. We were lucky to get a cab though it would have been an easy 10 minute walk. We were initially seated at a table which had a shared bench with the table behind us. This felt uncomfortable to us so we moved into the bar and had a great dinner.
Wonderful as always.
Perfect spot for a date night!
I've been coming to Zuni since the early 90's. It's my absolute favorite restaurant in NYC. The service and food is amazing. You must have a reservation or be prepared to wait. The only thing that sometimes is annoying the the host(s) can be a little prickly. On our most recent visit, one host was super nice, the other was unpleasant. Luckily the nicer one took over and gave us a table right away.
Love it for lunch or dinner, but easier to get in for lunch.
Always a reliable choice for an enjoyable evening out!
I’ve loved Zuni’s for over 2 decades, and will continue to dine there. However, on this occasion I ordered the burger well done, it wasn’t. Went back and it came again still not well done . To Zuni’ credit , and this meant a lot, as it was a business lunch, I was not charged for the sandwich.
