The Zuni is my favorite restaurant. Great food, with daily changing menu and so comfortable with impeccable service and great people who work there.

We had a 1 pm lunch reservation and were seating promptly. We were seated upstairs in an area with one side open to the first floor. It was extremely noisy. So much so that we could not hold a conversation. Fortunately, when we complained and asked to be moved, we were re-seated in a quieter area. Huge improvement and it was much appreciated. The food was very good but not exceptional. We ordered the roast chicken, which was delicious but nothing extraordinary. Service was excellent. Still, I probably wouldn't go back because of the noise level.

Celebrated the holiday season with a festive lunch at Zuni. As always, great food and service. But it was bustling, and therefore so loud it was a little difficult to talk.

Was there for my wife's 60th B-Day. We had the Wood fired chicken for two which was so good even with the hr wait to cook it. The service was great and we were always attended too. Found free parking 2 blocks away which is always good.
I'd go there again and a nice thing about it was it was started in 1979 the yr we were married.
Nice place an I'd go there again.

First visit to Zuni Cafe, had a great time! Guests loved the shoestring french fries, the oysters were delicious, and the duck breast perfectly cooked!

The chicken for two is one of the great American dishes — sort of the Platonic ideal.

It does take an hour so that order a few drinks and initial courses.

Zuni is one of my absolute favorite San Francisco standards. I first went there 25+ years ago and it was still wonderful last week (reminding me I need to go there more often!)

I think I had really high expectations coming in and ultimately the food was worth it but 2 notes. The hostess was somewhat unprofessional. I showed up 10 minutes early to my reservation and she seemed completely preturbed. I didn't ask to sit down early or anything, was just there. Also the gnocchi was seriously dissappointing (almost gross even). The chicken was good and I think the wine was by far the most exceptional part of our meal. Would go again maybe at a lunch or brunch?

Been waiting to confirm that the chicken here is the best you can get, anywhere. Confirmed. Ain't nothin like SF's food -- sorry New York. If you're visiting SF and can eat at only one good restaurant, it's here.

We have been to this place many times and this last time was my least favorite. First, we ordered a selection of oysters and they tasted fishy and old. Second we had the roast chicken. We usually love this dish but this time, albeit still good, the white meat was a little dry. Finally we had ricotta gnocchi. These were outrageous.
On this particular evening the service felt rushed and not very attentive.

My mom and I went here before the theater, which was perfect. The ZUNI pinot is one of my all time faves! I usually get the chicken, no brainer, but this time we got the gnocchi, sea bass and polenta. It was such a great meal, with great ambiance and our server, Antonio, was delightful!

Normally I love Zuni but this time I wasn't that impressed. The food seemed so over-the-top salty. I like a healthy amount of salt on my food but -- except the under-salted polenta -- it was seriously over-seasoned.

The hostess was rude so started off poorly. The Cesar salad was too lemony and dressing was runny. Onion soup just ok. Maybe should have ordered the chicken but my friends did not want to wait that long.

After living in the Bay Area for 35 years and trying many restaurants...I Finally made it to Zuni Cafe. Dining here was a complete pleasure- the menu is well executed, wine list is well thought out and there are many selections...overall ambiance is comfortable and upscale. I really enjoyed my meal and service and all else--my only regret was not dining here much earlier. I will definitely be back!
Food- I started with the sardines and was told they been on the menu for decades-its easy to see why- simply delicious! Then the pasta of the day with a Zin- a house made tagliatelle with duck , pork, and beef ragu with fresh spinach--all served with ample butter and Acme bread. I ended with a perfect espresso
Delightful place with excellent service!

My husband and I visited SF for our Thanksgiving vacation. When we booked our flight for SF in October, I immediately booked a reservation for Zuni. We were not disappointed. We have been there several times and it is definitely a favorite of ours. Great space; however, we wish we could have sat downstairs where the views are more beautiful (lots of windows) than our upstairs, small room, closed in space. Our chicken was incredible and the oysters were in season and yummy. This place is a gem! We will be back!

Love, love, love Zuni. I have been here at least 100 times and I hope to eat here 100 more times. Great food, environment, cocktails, wine list with just the right coziness. The Caesar salad is awesome, the Ricotta Gnoocchi is a melt in your mouth light entree and the chicken for two IS all the reviews say it is. Restaurants in San Francisco are expensive. Those who live here are use to this reality. If your looking for "cheap eats" in SF there are dozens and dozens of awesome places for that type of food venue. Zuni is upscale casual and therefore is priced accordingly. We eat out a lot and Zuni, by far is my favorite restaurant. Its consistient, fun, and I have never been disappointed.

Thank you Zuni!!!

$60 for a chicken for two?! If that’s the case it better be the best chicken in my entire life. Instead it was pretty dry. We also ordered the Stemple Creek appetizer. Four tiny slices of beef for $14. This place is pricey for what you get. Service and dessert were about the only good things this place has to offer. After spending $150 before tip, I think there are better values and better food elsewhere.

We have been dining at Zuni for years when we visit SF from NYC after a week in Napa, probably over 15 years now, it was always our go to.. This past experience on 11/18/17 was not like all the rest. We were sat at a tourist table next to kitchen. Table 16, very distracting and not really appealing at all. Our server was not on his game, he forgot to bring a side dish we ordered, we had to ask for bread twice from other staff, when bread is typically brought soon after you are seated, and then the server abruptly dropped the check without asking us if we were interested in dessert, which we were. He stated when we informed him that we were not done with our evening, he just came back from being off and to not take it personally. Really? We were pretty disappointed, we never had an off experience at Zuni. We tipped the server accordingly, which is not easy for us, we are both in the hospitality business (food & wine). One other note, Zuni Caesar salad is always solid and dressed perfectly. Saturday night, the salad was soaked in dressing. Maybe just an off night overall, pretty disappointing though. The ratings above are based on this dining experience.

We really looked forward to an amazing caesar salad after hearing that it was one of the best anywhere... but we were disappointed in somewhat wilted greens and not enough anchovy flavor. For my husband, the anchovies are everything!!!

On the flip side, the roasted chicken was as incredibly perfect as we had hoped! And our server was considerate, warm, and helpful!

Overall my experience at Zuni Cafe was underwhelming. After hearing so much about the restaurant, my expectations were very high, however our service was below average for the type of experience I was expecting. The food and atmosphere were great, but our server did not make us feel welcome or meet the standards I would expect for such an expensive restaurant.

Memorable evening spent post SF Symphony to celebrate two birthdays and one inaugural performance. Staff was more than accommodating when we called to say that we would be arriving later than expected. Upon arrival, we immediately placed our order for the roast chicken, then settled in for a leisurely evening of sampling their sparkling wines and appetizers. Our party of five shared the roast chicken (moist and favorable), the pork chop (thick and juicy), the halibut (wonderful pairing sauce), and the beef bourguignon (so tender). The broccoli rabe and gnocchi helped to round out our tasting menu. Not a single miss amoungst the lot. Needless to say, we all left with food for several meals. Attentive staff, nice whiskey menu, and a corner table by the window. Could not have asked for a better way to celebrate our loved ones. Highly recommended.

We had a performance to go to so got there at 6. The waitstaff checked in with us every couple minutes which was very nice. It may have been because we were so early but in my experience the service is always very good. I got a salad, which I always find too small in restaurants (I want more veggies), but the ingredients were very fresh and tasty. Overall, this place is always wonderful if you can get in!
