Even without a reservation, bar tables are available on a first come, first served basis and the full menu is available. The bar also serves traditional cocktails made with top-shelf ingredients; refreshments at its best in an environment of effortless hospitality. Whether you dine early or prefer to dine after theater, Zuni is a welcoming haven.
Love Zuni. Quite expensive, but a lovely atmosphere and consistently delicious food
It was a very good experience after the waiter got permission to move us from the tiny, cramped corner table upstairs. That table cannot seat two human beings comfortably.
Amazing!! Perfect ladies lunch spot
We sat upstair for lunch and enjoyed a lovely meal. My halibut was served in a bed of Israeli Couscous and saffron. My husband had the King Salmon was perfectly cooked. Another highlight was the Espresso Granite--delicious!
I was happy to come back to Zuni Cafe, It's a great place to celebrate special occasions, it was my friends first time and she enjoyed every dish. We enjoyed every dish and the service.
My husband and I had our wedding reception here and for our first anniversary thought we would make it a tradition.! We love this place Scott our server was delightful., knowledgeable and AMAZING! Thank you for making our special day so wonderful.
great food ambience and service a good place to gp
Not great. The salmon was fine. Halibut was a complete miss with odd flavor choices and not cooked great. Nothing stood out. Server was rude. Not impressed for $140 without alcohol.
Classic and worth it. Plus, they were wonderful about accommodating our baby.
Always great we come to Zunis every time we travel to San Francisco from Australia and it is always great.
Zuni is our favorite lunch spot. As always, the food (fettuccine w mushrooms, Sage sausage, lamb soup, burger & shoestring fries) was excellent as was the gâteau victoire. The service @ Zuni is a delight. Thank you!
I expected better from this popular restaurant. The pizza with mushrooms was left in the oven too long, the result being that some of the mushrooms were charred, not a good thing. A friend who has been to Zuni had the same complaint from past visits.
The goat cheese, Buddha's finger citron & persimmon salad was remarkably good - highly recommend it.
Food is always good. Service is not so much. The kind of restaurants which so well-known and well-established and saturated and sophisticated that it won't be shaken by not so attentive service.
Worst dining experience I've had in SF. Our server Nancy was just awful and slow. It was a business lunch, so will not be bringing future business partners here. Food was pretty good though.
One of the best meals I’ve ever had.
Food was ok! Service was ok! Not worth it for the price especially when they charge for ever single little item! Over 100 for lunch and left feeling hungry!
Excelente opción a precios razonables
For people under 35.....stylish, noisy for a weekday. Fully booked at night.
Over the decades this restaurant never fails to satisfy and delight!
Love the chicken, who doesn’t? The pluot dessert with whipped cream, meringue and ginger snap crumbles was divine.
We somehow didn’t properly calculate walking time correctly. After it seemed like we were walking for a long time, we looked at the time and realized we were late! We called and they said they could still accommodate us, thankfully. Service is just right- knowledgeable, friendly, and metered without being intrusive. Food, well, what can I say? It’s fresh, inventive, visually beautiful—and equally important, delicious. Everything dining out should be. Quite an impressive feat since they’ve been doing this for years and do not rest on their laurels! Well done! Thank you for a great experience that is worth traveling for; we did!
Disappointing. Food was very good but we waited 35+ minutes between 1st and 2nd courses. Obviously a problem in the kitchen that waiter should have told us.
We had a great experience at Zuni cafe. The food was great, but more importantly, each part of each dish was good on its own. It's pricey but given how good the food is it's pretty reasonable for SF - we've had many more expensive meals that weren't this good. The service was fine, but we're not idiots nor are we super demanding. (The lady dining alone at the table next to us had a litany of impossible or nonsense demands so from her perspective I'm sure Zuni Cafe was terrible.)
This was our first time at Zuni but I can see why it's always booked up a couple weeks in advance. We'll be back.
Service was great & all recommendations were very good. Enjoyed seasonal touches in every dishes we ordered.
Everything was perfect, as usual. The only area for significant improvement are the lint rich white napkins. My black pants became an abstract depiction of a winter snow storm, thanks to the napkin on my lap.
Zuni while pleasantly hip, has evolved into an upscale, over-priced trendy restaurant. Disappointing change from it’s earlier roots of hip hangout with great food and great vibe (e.g. dining at the bar in the early 90’s seated next to Robin Williams).
Great food for a reasonable price. It was very loud. I had a hard time hearing the waitress and my husband.
Treated myself to lunch on a day off. What a great find! Delicious. The Fuyu Persimmon salad with Buddha Hand was like nothing I’ve had before. Can’t wait to go again!
We had a great table for two at a window and received excellent service. The food was great, we especially loved the little gem salad and clam and muscle appetizer! Must try and will definitely return!
I've been going to Zuni for 20+ years - same great combo of locally sourced food, great affordable wine choices, and an upbeat but not loud vibe -- make sure to get the Ceasar salad!
This place is over. It is overpriced and not worth it. i know most average meals in SF cost too much and good ones cost way too much. So, you should at least feel that you aren't getting ripped off. Was there for lunch and got a $17 caesar salad that was just lettuce, dressing and croutons. If you wanted protein, you could get shrimp on top for $3 each. $26 for an average salad plus a few shrimp is ridiculous. $20 for a burger without fries (and without cheese). Money isn't the only factor in determining the quality of a restaurant. But there is nothing that warrants that. The service was pretty mediocre as well. The menu is overall pretty boring - so its not like anything else would have been a better choice. The chicken is supposed to be the thing to get. Its $63 for 2 people and its chicken. Go to NOPA instead. Very similar and I don't feel like I'm being ripped off. If you want to stay in the same neighborhood go to Rich Table. But don't waste your money here.
Not impressed have eaten there for years when in SF
Great food, wonderful service - a perfect evening out.
Our party of two had a reservation indicating a celebration and we were taken to one of the least favorable spots in the restaurant - right in the midst of server circulation where they are dumping dirty plates, etc. There are no proper entrees for vegetarians, and the meat options seem to be overpriced. Decent wine selection by the glass.
French toast is delicious.
The service was outstanding, very personal, but not too overly interfering. The food was very good, but as it's famous for it's roast chicken, I was disappointed that two people had to order a roast chicken, and I could not order my own portion. The wine was excellent, and our server kept our glasses topped up very unobtrusively. Very pleasant ambience - loved the interesting layout, with lots of little nooks and crannies. We had requested a quiet table for our anniversary dinner, and our request was met, including being congratulated on our anniversary! We will definitely return and take some friends so that I can have my roast chicken.
It had been 15 years since I'd been to Zuni. It was good, but I found it quite overpriced. I chose it because it is such an "institution" - staff was pleasant, the food was good, but it was damned expensive. For dessert we got an Eton mess -and it was mostly whipped creme - I found 2 fragments of meringue - it should be the other way around. Overall my experience was "meh."
The hamburger is off the charts. Shoestring French fries are amazing as well
