Zuma Japanese Restaurant - Miami Ratings and Reviews
This was the worst customer service I have ever received. I was actually really looking forward to going here since most the reviews were amazing, but unfortunately I can't give a good review. We ordered a bottle of wine and they hardly ever came back to refill it. The waiter finally came over and told us they forgot to put one of our orders in and it was going to be a while, didn't offer anything for the mess up. The food was not bad but I would never go back because of the AWFUL service. I would not recommend, not worth it.
We haven't been to Zuma for a few years, and we forgot how good it is. This time we did the tasting menu for $99 each. This includes a vast array of seafood and non-seafood small dishes, each of which is a tasting delight. Zuma is very expensive, but there's not question about the quality.
Horrible service. We’ve dined here before, and other “highly rated” places - but never dealt with such poor service. While waiting an hour for our table - they sent numerous people to our party to tell us “don’t use opentable because we save bad tables like Lounge/bar or outside” and then after arguing for an hour, we finally got our table and the terrible night continued.
The food was ok, spicy tuna roll was good, but the risotto rice was too strong, and other dishes failed as well.
The ambiance is good with stylish people, but the bumbling staff marred that experience.
I cannot recommend Zuma at all
Underachieving, expensive for it’s Worth and disappointing.
I went to Zuma for the first time on may2017. My first impression was fantastic, so when we visited Miami again we returned without hesitating, what a mistake!
We ordered the premium tasting menu. Everything was average and plain except the grilled scallops which I have to say were outstanding.
In between the $150+tax menu we were gutted to find: fried squid rings, green salad and so on. From the nearly 10 plates, maybe two of those were worth the money.
Mushroom and truffle risotto OK
Grilled scallops OK
SUSHI WISE, we got 2 nigiri (yellowtail and salmon) and three sashimi tuna, red snapper and yellowtail average and plain (the cuts were uneven and one of the pieces had a little string of meat hanging out).
A disappointing experience compared to my memories. DON’T expect too much... If you do go, DON’T ORDER THE TASTING MENU, A TOTAL SCAM!
This is NOT the restaurant it used to be! Zuma was one of the best Japanese restaurants we had in Miami, and it has considerably dropped status.... all because of BAD SERVICE. The food continues to be good, but the service on the day we were there, was simply BAD. The server had no idea what he was doing. The dishes were all wrong coming to the table, some did not arrive at all, and each time the servers came to our table it was a total confusion. Also, the restaurant was nearly empty on a Thursday during lunch time; that should have been a sign..... This restaurant was always quite busy during lunch. I don't recommend it to anyone because the prices are still quite high and the service is ridiculously bad.
Food was great, but service (while nice and polite) was off. They rushed the dishes in the omakase, so that several times 2-3 dishes came out at once. In addition, we specifically asked for no shellfish, and they served a shrimp item. We brought it to their attention, they apologized, but later in the meal brought out a soft shell crab.
Too crowed! Our table was almost touching a other guest tables and people were always bumping on each other . I had been coming to ZUMA many times and always the level of noise it is very high . We did ask the attendant for a table more quiet , she had one just there in the entrance, but she didn’t want to gave to us. That table was not occupied at least for an hour after. The main door guy is really very polite and friendly but the front desk attendant people need to be more friendly . By phone is quiet impossible to talk with them , they don’t answer the phone and when they did always they are not friendly . Looks like because they are always packed , they don’t care to loose some customers . I don’t intend to go back there soon .
