As usual a perfect evening at Zula. Had the added pleasure of sitting at the bar and talking with the owner. Highly recommend this place!

Very tight seating and very noisy on a Saturday night. Still, very good service, a lot of energy and fun--and very good breaded eggplant, excellent mussels and fish special.

Fantastic mussels and selection of broth flavors! The French traditional and Marseille mussels were amazing--and dipping the homemade sourdough bread into the broth-- to die for! The portion of mussels was large (two could fill up on bread and one portion of mussels plus an appetizer) and reasonably priced between $15-18. The restaurant was chic, but still very cozy. If returning, I would request for a non-communal table, but as my husband and I made last minute reservations, we didn't have much choice. We found the communal table to be awkward and crowded, as the seats are too close together and the table is in the middle of the restaurant with brighter lighting than around-- we felt like a spectacle with everyone listening in on our conversation. Overall, the food was fantastic and the experience would have been 100% perfect if we had a private table. We'll be back!

Zula has creative tapas. We enjoyed the tuna tartare, tiger shrimp (very small butterflied shrimp) over wilted greens and then a “large” plate of hangar steak and vegetables. Tasty, the same size of a tapas plate at double the cost ($28). The big drawback is that the restaurant was packed, which is good in one sense but also means that the tables are so close together that even the skinniest patrons are dragging their butts across table edges to be seated. Seating is so tight that the waitress had to stand behind the shoulder of my date to talk about the menu. I’m sure she would have appreciated being able to see the waitress. One final positive, it is one of the few OTR restaurants that take reservations. You should go. The food is worth it and now you know what to expect.

We dined before a show at the Music Hall and truly enjoyed every part of the meal. Our server was very helpful with recommendations and insight to the menu and the food was awesome!

Food was excellent, we started off with outstanding drinks, moscow mule and a recommended wine, which was perfect. We shared a flatbread and some muscles, both were very tasty. Ended the meal with creme brule. Our waitress was friendly and enthusiastic, just a pleasure to spend time with. All in all a really enjoyable evening.

Had a 7:45 reservation and showed up early and were seated immediately even though it was quite busy. It cleared out a little shortly thereafter when the theatre crowd headed to their shows. Even when it was busy the service was fast, courteous and friendly. We were very impressed!
The food was great. An interesting, diverse menu. Great beer and wine list.
All in all a great place for our date.

I had dear friends staying with me from Paris. They are not ex-pats, they are French. They share my love of mussels, so Zula was the natural choice for dinner. I had eaten at Zula many times and never experienced such disorganized service as we did that evening. Our waitress knew nothing of the questions we asked, such as how many shrimp were on the appetizer, as we were trying to determine how many to order, or if one order was sufficient for sharing. Six to nine, she told us. When the shrimp arrived, the shrimp were buried in salad. Soon we discovered there were only 3 shrimp in the dish. As we had already ordered our dinner, it was too late to order another appetizer. We decided on a rather pricey bottle of wine to share. Our waitress brought us a sample, which we determined to be excellent. When the bottle arrived (quite a bit later), it was opened at our table, which is the custom, and the taste pour was very acidic, vinegary, in fact, and I said this was not the same wine. Later it was determined that the reason our sample was so delicious is that it had been aerated by sitting open for three hours prior to our pour. Without any further discussion, they agreed to provide us with a different variety of wine, which was just okay at $30 a bottle; the other bottle was double that price, but there seemed no other choices close to that particular vintage. When we ordered our dinner, we asked if bread was provided with the mussels - the answer was no. This, I felt a bad choice on the part of the restaurant, as many ordering mussels wish to soak up the residual broth with bread. Our waitress pointed out that we could order bread, two pieces to an order for $4.00. One in our party ordered fries, so I ordered two baskets of bread, providing me and my other guest with two pieces of bread each. Well the bread came 4 pieces to the order, leaving us with 8 very large pieces of artisan bread. Also, despite ample seating, we were seated by the kitchen..a disaster!

We had made reservations for our one year anniversary and were sat at the bar. It was very loud and hot by the oven. Also our server was very slow. For the amount of money that we spent we just expect better service. We have been here multiple times and it is one of our restaurants but this time was not good. I do not want to be sat at the bar if I have a reservation.

The food is excellent and presented beautifully. Attentive and unobtrusive service--and I appreciated our server's patience as I tried different wines until I found the perfect one. We appreciate the ability to split plates, all of which are great.
We'll be back.

It was good, except for the fact that you are practically sitting with the other tables around you since they are so close together. Frustrating when you have people next to you who are not having good conversations and are talking more loudly than others. Service was very good, Mussels are excellent! But it was a relief to get out of there afterwards. I booked the table for 2, not for 6.

Had a 7:45 reservation. Checked in and was told our table would be ready in a few minutes. Stood at the hostess stand. Other couples came in for their reservations, 8:00, 8:15. Finally at 8:20 I asked about our table since we'd been waiting 35 minutes. Gave our name again and the girl assisting the hostess said our table was ready, they'd been looking for us. What? We never moved. We were standing right in front of their faces since we'd arrived. What a waste of 35 minutes due to incompetent hostesses.

Jamie is a wonderful server. It was very crowded due to a Music Hall production and Blink going on downtown but She totally kept her composure. Flat breads and the beef dish were delicious but the fish dish was a bit on the bland side.

We were 5 on a Tuesday evening and ordered a variety of entrees and sides to share. Every single dish was excellent. Everything about Zula was first class: the service, the food, and the ambience. I'd call it casual fine dining. I especially loved the Rare Seared Scottish Salmon.

I had fun. Two drinks in an hour and a half so I was enthusiastic but couldn't help feeling service was for lack of a better word, distant. If I were in their place I would celebrate my guests having a good time far from being an obnoxious drunk. There is a way to inset yourself into the mood of the table get your job done and manage to enjoy yourself.
