Z'Tejas Scottsdale Ratings and Reviews
Tried the Scrambled Egg and Jalapeno Bacon Stuffed Relleno. It was, in one word, fabulous. I would definitely recommend it. The service was very good. It was Mother's Day and they did a great job of keeping things moving. My friend had the Chorizo and Scrambled Egg and loved hers too. Z'Tejas always does a wonderful job with their menu items, drinks, etc
The staff and the manager went out of their way to offer an extra concessions for having to wait a few minutes longer than expected to be seated and eventually served. That was going above and beyond and I was pleasantly surprised and didn't have to ask which was refreshing and unusual
The noise level was horrific. Couldn't hear ourselves talk or think. The wrong salad was brought to me and the waitress kept repeating it was the right salad but someone had put nuts on it. The salad was replaced and the restaurant apologized but it would have been nice be offered a free dessert, etc. Realize this is snowbird season so will stick to going over the summer during happy hour when it is less hectic.
Nice surroundings. Try to push beyond standard Mexican with mixed results. While barbacoa enchiladas were excellent, the roasted veggie tacos sounded better than their execution. Basically cooked veggies with little to no marinade in a deep fried flour tortilla and puco. No sauce or spice ti speak of. Fresh guac at the table was tasty, though I could have done without the crunchy pumpkin seeds.also overpriced. Margaritas were good. Not a bad option if you want solid Mexican/southwest but with wide variety.
The noise level was a bit loud and the service lacking. I ordered the Tortilla Soup and it came out lukewarm. The Chicken Chopped Salad was ok, but not as good as I've had at other Z'Tejas restaurants, namely in Tempe. The Tableside Guac was kinda salty. I also ordered a second margarita, but the waitress either forgot or didn't hear me.
The service was fair, but the food was terrible. There were four of us-three ordered salads which were brought to the table. The fourth meal did not appear and we were told that the kitchen ran out if the ingredients for that selection. The server asked if we wanted to order something else but did not have a menu with her....all the tables around us were complaining about the food or the service or both. We will never eat here again and we used to love it!
We had a large group. The staff was very accommodating of individual requests. The food was very good . We had apps, entrees, salads, sandwiches, deserts, drinks, in other words we sampled the menu. After dinner a few hardy souls went upstairs to the bar area and continued to enjoy themselves.
