Z'Tejas Scottsdale Ratings and Reviews
Disappointing. We were there for Mother's Day brunch. They were not prepared to handle their crowd, and we had a reservation scheduled for when they opened. Service was terrible, and the food was mediocre at best. There were a lot of places we could have booked brunch for Mother's Day. Thought we'd do something different, and chose Z'Tejas. We won't be back. Very disappointing experience.
I have been to a Z Tejas many times and was really looking forward to this meal but it was just okay. The food was good, the service was not so much *the restaurant was not busy but our server sure was* and the ambiance is more family/kid friendly than I remember. It was not quite what we were after, and although I recommend for a family meal, for ladies night out it was just eh
I had an OpenTable reservation for two at 4:30 p.m., for dinner. We checked in, in a timely manner and proceeded to have our dinner. Upon checking in with the young gentleman at the hostess/greeting stand at the entrance, I mentioned "specifically" to make sure that I would be checked in correctly so that I would receive my dining points with OpenTable. We ate dinner, and the food was good. Service was timely.
However, when I returned home to give my review here on OpenTable, I was shocked and surprised to be marked as a "No Show" for my reservation in which I was indeed present. I was then totally inconvenienced at having to call Z'Tejas, to rectify this matter. I can say though, that the current manager on duty that I spoke with, named Dillon, was absolutely fantastic and terrific in rectifying this error quickly so that I would receive my points. I am a VIP here with OpenTable, (at least 90+ reviews approximately), and have never been a "No Show" in my life! Thank you Dillon!
Please train your employees in how to enter OpenTable reservations correctly into your system so that other patrons are not inconvenienced in this way. A complimentary appetizer or better would sure be appreciated here, as it was very stressful for me to have this resolved, and should not have happened in the first place. It is extremely rare that I will post a review such as this.
Was doing a little early shopping and had a nice relaxing dinner before hitting the stores again. Our server paced the meal perfectly. All the entrees looked and tasted fantastic.
It's funny but we were talking about how good everything was and count figure out why we had been away so long. All I can say is we won't be repeating that mistake
I had a date with my girlfriend, and it was the first time for both dining at Z'Tejas. We really enjoyed the food and the service provided. The server reviewed the menu and was readily available for questions and answers. Thank You again for the great experience we had on our date.
I tried the Southwestern Crab Cake Appetizer for the first time. Scrumptious! I took a chance and it paid off. It was very good, and was a nice portion size, as it comes with three mini-crab cakes, with a tasty edible cabbage-like garnish, which is almost like a salad. Very filling. I would order it again.
I have been to Z'Tejas before several times in the past, but took a long break because of previous inconsistencies in the kitchen, in which sometimes, could be hit or miss with the food. However, this time was definitely a "hit"! My Smoked Chicken Chili Relleno Entrée, was flavorful, good, and served at the proper temperature. Service was very good.
Right in the mall so shorts, flip flops or business casual is acceptable attire. Good consistent food quality. Fantastic chambord margaritas!!! This is a "go to" place when you get overwhelmed by all the choices and just want some good food at a reasonable price.
Young waiter, bless his soul - almost every dish was incorrectly prepared due to miscommunication between waiter and kitchen. When we sat down, the music was too loud for us to hear each other at the table. The waiter corrected the music, and we made do with the dishes, except for one that had to be re-ordered. Live and learn...
Had dinner at Z' Tejas, at Fashion Square Mall, due to the convenience of attending a movie right afterward at Harkins. My food was "okay" as far as flavor and barbeque sauce was concerned, as I happened to order their "special" that day, which was a no-bone, Pork Rib Entrée. It was not a high quality Pork Rib, by any means, as there was "much" gristle and fat in the meat, which I had a hard time chewing through and/or getting around. I wish I would have stuck with a regular entrée menu item instead. This "special" was certainly not "special". My server however, was very good, personable, and friendly!
I was pleased that the staff used my suggestions when making my reservation as a way to start the conversation when me and my friends arrived. They are from Iowa and had never been to Z Tejas. I knew the food was incredible and the atmosphere lively, friendly, while respecting our privacy. Scottsdale did not disappoint. I've also been able to enjoy the Bethany Home and Tempe locations with the same consistent great service, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and nice atmosphere.
Tasty food, good atmosphere, friendly attentive service, reasonably priced, an all-around great last minute choice for Valentine's Day dinner. Very quick to clear empty plates, refill water, and the manager checked on every table to ensure the service & food was perfect.
First time and last. Food was "Cafateria" level food. I was actually shocked at the lack of quality. They do a great job with the menu the food sounds amazing on paper, but that is all. Maybe for drinks only if that's what your into. Will not be going back, so many other amazing choices near by.
Haven't been here in over 20 years. We remembered the food being good and decided to try it again while in Scottsdale. Overall the food selections were interesting. Tried the catfish beignets which were really just catfish tenders. The panfried dumplings were delicious. Mushroom enchiladas were a twist and quite tasty. The pork tenderloin stuffed with chorizo melted in your mouth. While to food was still great wasn't crazy about mall location.
It's always good here! The foods always on point - I'm just not sure why you need a reservation though. When I went to make one just in case, there was only an 11:15am times lot available so I took that as meaning it would be busy. When I arrived I was 1 of about 5 tables, so that was a little weird. Otherwise it was awesome :)
I recently met a girlfriend for dinner at Z'Tejas and forgot how great this restaurant is. The food was delicious (Talapia) and cooked perfectly and just the right amount of chipolte. I had the tres leches with coconut for dessert and it was excellent. I never eat but a bite of dessert, but I could not stop eating this. The wait staff was very prompt and professional. I always feel i have to drudge through the mall to get here, but it was very easy. Z'Tejas will not be on my regular restaurant radar.
My spouse found a human hair in her salad. The manager never even came to our table to address it. The bathroom was filthy, with peeling paint and leaking faucets.
The restaurant wasn't even busy on a Saturday night and now I know why. The wait staff did an adequate job but was not at all apologetic about the incredible event. If it weren't for us being with our friends, I would have made a big deal about it.
Could not have asked for better service or food. The chicken, artichoke and mushroom stack was delicious. The chicken very tender and plenty of flavor. My husband had the steak burrito, he loved the flavor and that the steak would melt in your mouth. We love going to Z'Tejas, and this one just as good as the ones in San Antonio and Austin.
