Dad loves mexican food. Recently he tried Z Tejas and loved it. We went to the Tempe one and he felt the Chandler one was far better. The food is not greasy and seems a healthier mexican food than other restaurants we have been to. Dad is hard to please and he gives this a 5 star.
We have dined at Z Tejas several times before, which is why we chose this spot for a birthday celebration. The service was pretty good, but the food wasn't all that great and it seemed to take longer to arrive than normally. Spending $200 for a party of four for mediocre food didn't sit well with me. It will be a while before I revisit this location again.
The food was great as always. Tom is an exceptional server and did a fantastic job keeping up happy and entertained.
Consistently good food, great margaritas. Last minute, this place is always accommodating. One of my favorite neighborhood restaurants.
We always dine here at least once when we visit Phoenix. Excellent food, fantastic service, friendly and well-managed restaurant. One of our favorites in the area.
The food was good. Our group of six had everything from steaks to enchiladas and everyone enjoyed his meal. The margaritas were good, but when my requested "no salt" margarita arrived, it had salt on the rim of the glass. Our somewhat inattentive waiter remedied that by wiping off the salt with his fingers. Ugh. The food and drinks were good enough that I would go back, hopefully with a different server.
Used to like the cornbread; don't appreciate donating in this way, preferring to choose my own charities. Food is good and varied; service has always been good, even when busy. Too noisy for my husband's taste, so we don't go often.
We visit ZTejas several times a year, as it is very close to home and convenient lying located. The food is always excellent and the service is outstanding.
Never a bad experience..
We have dined here many times when we are in the Phoenix area and have always had great food and excellent service, in a friendly atmosphere.
Both my wife and my food were cold, they changed their menu and its not as good as before.
Horrible food service. Waited an hour for our food. Excuse after excuse on why it wasn't ready. Two tables next to us were served and left before we got our food.
Server was rude and management didn't care. We will not be going back!
Service was good and the quality of the food was excellent, even the kids meal! Good value and nice ambience.
Our favorite place to take out of town guests. There is lots of variety on the menu, consistently good food, and great atmosphere. Chambord margaritas and catfish tacos are a favorite
We love this place. Have gone many times and take guests from out of town who always just rave about the food. Also great for takeout. The staff very friendly and great service. Highly recommend.
Dinner was excellent however just as I was taking my last bite of food our server said "are you finished?" Before I could even answer because I had a mouthful of food she pulled my dinner plate right out from under me and took away my napkin. My husband was still eating his dinner and I ended up using his napkin to wipe my hands. I felt the whole thing was kind of rude.
Really great service. Food is nice. The server was really great. The restuarant was really nice, not too close.
They were redoing kitchen
Food was cold and one entree was burned. We were all finished with our meal before my husband's replacement meal arrived...on 3 separate plates with no presentation. We never did get our cornbread or a muffin that went with one meal. The manager compensated our meal, but it was an unpleasant experience. This has been one of our favorite brunch restaurants in the valley, but it was a sad experience. Our server was less than attentive and could not have been more dismissive. He was 50% of the problem. Time for a staff change and a restaurant overhaul.
We were very close to a party of about 40. But not as close as they were originally going to put is. They were going to put us right next to them after we told them it was our anniversary and the restaurant was empty. We ended up pretty close anyway. Our server kept disappearing. We had to request our cornbread and it took almost 15 minutes to pay our bill. The food was good as it always is, but we were disappointed as our special occasion was rather ordinary.
We had a great dinner with old friends from Florida at Z'Tejas in Chandler! The food was really good and the service was as well. I would highly recommend this restaurant to someone who is interested in something a bit different. We will be back again soon!
Always very good. Predictable, consistent good food and service.
Best margaritas and great happy hour! Love getting the Trio and Margarita and the cornbread that comes to every table is awesome! Great for happy hour and get-togethers with friends
Pros:
-prompt service. Never had to wait for anything.
-the salsas and guacamole are always so fresh and flavorful. The queso was excellent as well.
-I like this noise level for bringing a toddler, if she's loud nobody notices.
-always a clean restaurant with smiling staff.
Cons:
-kids Mac n cheese has zero flavor. It's noodles with melted cheese all over. It's not even like a cheese sauce. My toddler wouldn't touch it, I don't blame her.
-hickory burger is one of my favorites in town. The bun was stale this time. I would have sent it back but was short on time.
- you really do need a reservation if you don't want to wait around. Otherwise you can have a drink in the bar, but it's routinely very crowded.
- the parking lot is a disaster after 6pm, you will have to park down by Flemmings.
A little too noisy. I could not make conversation with my husband.
The waitress cleared my plates that still had food on them. I was still eating.
Other than my complaints the food was tasty.
Tejas trio app is a must! Free cornbread is great. Tried the green chile pork nachos for the first time-excellent. My go to dish is the chorizo stuffed pork loin. Service is always good. Bartender forgot simple syrup in the mojitos though...that was the only mix up. Probably should have swapped them out for new drinks but just ordered new different drinks.
Four of us had a work day birthday luncheon. We made reservations which many places do not do for a table for four. When I asked about time issues since we were on a lunch hour, they suggested to have our order ready to hand to our server when we got there. Great idea!
Our lunch came quickly and they even brought a dessert with candle for us to share.
Wonderful !!
Everyone from the hostesses to our server to the manager were friendly and excellent! The noise level was a bit loud making it hard to hear for a girls night out of catching but the food and service were excellent! Thanks, we'll be back on a different night other than Friday when it's a bit quieter.
We have been to Z'tejas a few times and they never fail to deliver. We always start with the Green Chile Pork nachos, ask for the typing in a bowl with the chips on the side. They are delicious. This time I got the Steak burrito and my wife got the street tacos. Steak Burrito was amazing and my wife loved the tacos. Do make reservations unless you don't mind waiting. Service was great and the manager even remembered my name on the way out.
Can't wait to go back!
Bad service / Great food
My wife and I visited our "local" Z Tejas, primarily because we needed to get out and relax. Everything about our visit was great from our appetizer to our margaritas entrees and desserts. Our server could be the model for servers to come, informative and did not rush us. Thanks
The street tacos here I love. Just the right amount of goodness. Family loved it..
The food was delicious and server was very polite. I would say the only thing irritating was the noise level but no control over that really. .i would recommend it to everyone.
Energy abounds in this bright and unique environment. Unusual and tasty brunch offerings and quick, pleasant service made the experience worthwhile. Try the Machaca!
My wife and I come here frequently and sometime's last minute if we're not sure where we want to go to eat. Menu with wide variety. Don't forget to try the frozen margarita's!
I always think of this place first when thinking of large groups, Happy Hour and satisfying everyone's picky palates! The selection of food, prices, happy hour prices and the face that you have weekend HH pricing is what brings me back!
Server provided outstanding service and was attentive.
The ambiance is nice, if not lavish. It certainly was pleasant, and the food was prepared well. In my case, I enjoyed the seafood enchilada with rice and black beans. I certainly have no complaints though I actually expected a bit more intimacy having enjoyed their Scottsdale location in the past.
All was good. Our server was very attentive. Great happy hour.
My husband had a memorable Father's day with his daughters. Thank you Z'Tejas for being so accommodating both in the seating arrangements and the special food order. Our server, Blaine, is exceptional! The margaritas are the best ever!
Thanks for helping to make my husband's day so special.
