I have been a customer at ZTejas Chandler for 15 years and keep coming back because of great food and great service. This time was a big disappointment to our party. The server was very short and abrupt and other than take our order, was completely absent. She never returned to ask how the food was, refill our drinks or even bother to ask us if we wanted desert, which we did because it was a birthday celebration, but unfortunately there was not the opportunity. Also, while being served our food, the server reached accross the table to serve a plate and a glass of water was knocked over spilled all over the table and my friend. And there was no rush by any staff to bring towels or napkins to help clean up. All in all, I was embarrassed to have hosted a group at ZTejas this time. Because I have always previously enjoyed ZTejas I will give it another chance to be the great restaurant that I enjoyed visiting.
Bar was fairly busy but dining was only 70% full. Ordered a drink upon seating. Ordered an app and when app was delivered we ordered dinner. Still waiting on drink. Dinner came in 5 minutes, surprised it came so fast but that is better than late. Still no drink and my fork was taken with appetizer. 5 minutes after food arrived I was able to get our server’s attention, asked for silverware and inquired about the margarita I had ordered before apps and entrees. A few minutes later a manager stopped bye and asked how things were and I mentioned I was still waiting on my margarita. He brought it, apologized and said they would take care of it. Finished my entire meal before I was able to finish my first cocktail. Was already disappointed so didn’t want another drink or desert. Received bill and drink was still on it. I have no issue with paying for what I ordered but they stated they would take care of it. Paid bill and left disappointed.
Good service and food, perfect for a business lunch.
We chose Z Tejas to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. We easily made a reservation and were seated immediately upon arrival. We have eaten here many times in the past and always enjoyed the experience and food. Service was slow for the restaurant being fairly empty. We had a kind server who appeared to be the only one waiting on our area. She did her best for all the tables she had to cover. We did not get refills for water or ice tea and I was not asked if I wanted another cocktail. When our food arrived it looked delicious. My pasta dish with chicken was perfect. My husbands salmon was undercooked at one end which we did not discover until he had eaten about half. Our server was very apologetic and had the manager come by to apologize and comp the meal. He offered fo remake the meal which we declined but appreciated the gesture. He offered free dessert which we declined as well but again appreciated that he tried to resolve the error. Overall it wasn’t the best experience for our anniversary dinner however our server and the manager were respectful and handled the situation well. We most likely will be back based on this but it may be a while before we venture in again.
As usual, Ztejas does not disappoint. Solid food, service and ambiance.
The dining room music is very loud -
We had an anniversary dinner there. It was nice and the service was great. We enjoyed happy hour cocktails that were super tasty
The food was great and service outstanding! Thank you.
nice menu upgrades. Tom is by far the best Server and any new customer should ask for Tom as he will be extremely helpfull and professional.
Great food and service
We do not eat here very often, but have always enjoyed our visits a lot. My wife and I joined another couple for dinner and all agreed that this is becoming our "go to" place for special occasions or just to get together for really good food. We hope that many other people share our opinion so that Z'Tejas will survive long into the future with its unique blend of marvelous food, pleasant decor, and sparkling service.
Great place for a group celebration. The service was really good and food was great!
Food was not cooked all the way. Strawberry Margaritas were made with no salt or sugar or Tequila . The children’s menu food was very spicy- unable to eat it. Very disappointed!
We had a fun time..they took care of us and made my birthday carefree..thank you Jenny for coordinating it all so perfectly
The food and service was great. Wasn't as busy as I thought it would be on a Saturday at 7pm but we got our food very quickly. I was bummed that they didn't mention anything about our anniversary even though I added that to our reservation on OpenTable. Would visit again as I really enjoy their margaritas, Diablo pasta and Chocolate Ancho Chile Pie.
Server was very attentive; food was amazing; noise level was almost unbearable.
Great food and service. We sat in the bar area and truly enjoyed our brunch. The 3 of us each had different dishes from the brunch menu and all were very good.
So wish Z’Tejas was fully formed. When they’re on it’s a great place. We visited with my mother who was in town. We started with the Z’Tejas trio, which arrived with the cheese dip cold and gelatinous. We allowed that to stand as mostly the littles wanted the Guac. Ordered dinner, and once there my dish (Chorizo stuffed pork tenderloin) was literally cold. They immediately took it back and had it re-made while I sat watching everyone else eat. When it returned it was very hot, and I rushed to eat it to catch up to the rest of the table. The manager walked the dish back and apologized, and also said the Tejas trio would be removed from our bill to make up for it, an unnecessary but welcome offer. Everything from that point forward was just fine, and instead of ge appetizer they actually removed my dish from the bill. If they’d been busy, or there was some other circumstance I wouldn’t be writing this review. The reason I am? The restaurant was mostly empty on a Sunday evening at dinner time. This also isn’t the first time we’ve experienced this. Probably won’t return which is a shame. The food is really unique, they have great drinks, and it’s a nice place inside. The service is just not up to what it should be.
I ordered the center-cut filet and was disappointed with the quality of the meat. It seemed that rather than premium meat, it was almost ground-based in texture and rather flavorless. The salmon my wife ordered was undercooked and sent back. Rather than replace the filet, the kitchen finished cooking the original piece.
Always a great choice when out of town guests come. True flavor of southwest
The food was good but the waiter never smiled, never said hi, and no thank you as he handed us the bill. We just ordered our food, no complaints so not sure why he was so unfriendly!!
The food is always really good and we love the cornbread, but this particular time was a miss for us. The service was lacking and we were forgotten at our table. (Had to wait long and far in between to see our waitress, we had to get up and actually ask for the check and couldn’t get a drink refill it had been so long with us just sitting there.)
Great. We will be back
We went with a large party and the food was amazing!! Chambord margarita are the best!
Was with colleagues. Food came out wrong. Bathrooms looked like a crime scene, service was average
This location has seen better days and the tables chairs and floors need an overhaul. We were there before the sun came down and it was evident that there has not been a lot of TLC for sometime. Our waiter was indifferent and seemed to be put out that we were there. Drinks came late, refills were sporadic and only taken care of if we asked, we had to hunt him down to place our order and somebody else delivered our food. The appetizer, a trio dips for chips, was something less than a store bought dip heated in the microwave. Cheese dip was not warm and had a very thick gooey and was somewhat tasteless. We each tried a bite of the 3 and left the rest, almost full bowls, on the table. Our server never asked if there was anything wrong with it and given that we were colleagues, none of us wanted to be that person to speak up. I chose this place and was a little bit embarrassed quite frankly that I did. I found myself explaining at the end of the night that it used to be a really nice location but has gone south. Collectively we ordered street tacos, enchiladas, shrimp fajitas and a green chili dish. Portions were OK but the food itsself was not much to write home about. The price point of this location is not overly expensive but I would expect more by way of quality, presentation , better portions and taste. Music in the restaurant was way too loud and after the second time I asked for it to be turned down slightly, someone did about 10 minutes later. Overall a really disappointing experience.
Thanks so much. We had great service and wonderful happy hour options! This is the 4th time my work group has celebrated here. Yay!
Great service. We had a table for 8 at 6 and got seated right away. Brian was our waiter and did an excellent job. The GM came over talked to our table. We got free desert at the end. Thank you for taking care of us!
The Salsa was VERY spicy! Would have liked a heads up or a mild option. I ordered the Trout Salad and the nuts were also VERY spicy! Just a heads up would be great! :)
Server was prompt, attentive without being intrusive and food was good...noise level was high, difficult to have a conversation without shouting...was given a discount on my adult beverage since they were having a special on a similar drink, but not the one I ordered -- manager personally explained that I could have a lower priced beverage, but I wanted what I ordered and he gave me the reduced price even though it was not officially offered.
I was disappointed to discover the brunch bloody mary bar had been discontinued. :(
Food is consistently good and like the atmosphere. Enjoy the variation on the menu. Nice appies and great margaritas!!
First try and will not return. My dining partner ordered coffee. Came cold, not even luke warm. The waiter seemed dismayed and we had to tell him it needed replaced. When my food came, again, the food was not hot, barely luke warm. Waiter was not helpful.
Appetizers and food fresh and delicious
Different menu then your average Mexican restaurant
Small lunch with office personnel - perfect for the occasion and everyone remarked that their meal was wonderful.
Our party of 4 was celebrating a birthday and had a great time throughout our visit. Our server was very efficient, friendly, and helpful with answers to questions about the menu selections. The food was delicious and served in a timely--not rushed or overly delayed--fashion. We had a great time and vowed to meet again to enjoy the restaurant; we won't wait until we have a special event to celebrate.
We were on vacation and wanted something Tex mex. This was fabulous.
tOM OUR WAITER WAS A GREAT GUY AND MADE A BIRTHDAY LUNCH FUN! THE ANCHO FUDGE PIE WAS DIVINE! THE CATFISH DELISH! THE TROUT SALAD WAS SENSATIONAL.
Called ahead to ensure there was sun on the patio, turned out it was a "sliver" which quickly disappeared. Waiter disappeared often for long stints making it difficult to request items. Host was very nice and friendly, made up for some of the issues but not all. Food was decent, not "knockout" - hence the ho-hum kind of review
