Ztejas Avery Ranch menu includes breakfasts like the Southern classic chicken and waffles and Tex-Mex dishes like stuffed breakfast rellenos or the south of the border Benedict. Lunch and dinner include pork nachos, chile con queso and street tacos.
as always, the food was spot on, and our server was awesome (my apologies that I can't remember her name). kudos to the complimentary dessert for mother's day and the fresh cornbread to-go!
Service was great, food a bit overpriced for certain menu items, the Mother's Day dessert was terrible (chef could have did better with his selection).
Been here a few times before writing this review, went with a friend for Happy Hour, there was great options then, nothing left me wanting more that time though.
Came again for Mother's Day because the rest of the party wanted to come, had some issues with our reservation, but the service after we sat down was great. That whole situation has since then been rectified, and generously so.
Due to the customer service that has occurred, I once again returned and have been highly impressed. The reservation was much smoother. The service was good, not that it was bad last time though. But this time the item I ordered was much better. I felt the other times the food was so so and didn't make me wanting more. The mac and cheese (yes which is strange to get this at a more so "Tex Mex" place is odd) but I really enjoyed this meal much more than I did any other Tex Mex items I got previously. On this last trip I would completely return and have a good time. I would recommend it to other people because the upper management actually fixes issues when it is brought to their attention.
As a frequent diner I have always enjoyed prompt service and great food. The visit was a bit off the mark Our reservation was for 6:45, we arrived at 6:40. We were informed they were a bit behind an handed a buzzer. We were seated at about 7. Food was also not what we have come to expect. I ordered the ribeye steak and my wife the fajitas. The steak was quite thin and a bit tough. The fajitas was large but only contained 4 small pieces of beef. We also noted the corn bread is now served in a smaller pan.
We have always enjoyed Z Tejas and dine there at least twice a month. I hope the was an anomaly
The food was good, but not good enough to outweigh the horrible service. The waiter was very friendly, but could not remember any of our orders or requests. The restaurant was not busy, but he neglected the table.
Food and wait-staff were commendable, however it was not enough to remove the bad taste left in my mouth from the poor service of the hostess in providing a suitable table for my party; including an outright lie about table availability.
Showed up for Easter brunch and it was so disappointing. Ordered our food and it took forever to get our food. When 4 out of 5 people's food arrived, they told us they could not make one person's order without mushrooms. They unfortunately waited too long to tell us. So that person just ordered a dinner salad and tortilla soup to get their food quickly. While all of this was going on, the food that had arrived was cold. It then took 20 more minutes to get the salad and soup. Attempted to order water 3 times. Never received it.
Easter Brunch reservations with family. Stood in small, crowded entrance while waiting for a table. Very busy with a noise level higher than expected, making conversation difficult. No special Easter Brunch menu, just the regular brunch selections. Food was mediocre, my side of potatoes with rosemary were undercooked. My son ordered the most expensive dish of macaroni and cheese I have ever seen at $12.25, it had 4 thin strips of smoked chicken on top, but still....
Great service! Food was excellent! Great decor in the restaurant!
Made a reservation, busy Friday night and we were seated right on time. Food choices were excellent, waiter was great, very helpful, courteous and attentive. Signature dishes and specials were fabulous . Loved the Southwestern menu motif, we will definitely return!
Our food and drinks were good and our food runner was super nice and helpful, asking the kitchen about gluten free items for me. However our waitress was really grumpy and seemed annoyed to "have" to be taking our orders. We were a party of seven and at first tried to give her the benefit of the doubt that maybe she was just having a bad day but it made several folks uncomfortable. We sat at one of the large tables in the bar area.
Great menu, prices, location, food. Nice bar area if you don't have reservations.
My wife and I went here to celebrate Valentine's day on Feb. 15. We shared the crab cakes appetizer, my wife had the beef burrito and I had the ruby-red trout. Everything was delicious! The service was mostly timely and friendly. In addition, I had the apple cobbler for dessert and that was very good as well. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Having dined at Z'Tejas we were unprepared for the confusion that reigned at 4:45 PM (CT) on a Sunday. Apparently the wait staff was changing shifts; the waiter who served our order was not the waiter who took our order. The soup was cold, the cornbread was never delivered, and the daily special (chicken breast with cajun sauce) was not that special. On the plus side the vegetables were excellent, crisp and hot. Management did make an effort to resolve the situation but took so long to respond that we had already left the building rather than wait, only meeting up with me when I returned to claim my hat that had been left behind. We will likely return but it will be several months before that occurs as there are so many newly opened restaurants in North Austin.
The outdoor patio area was a nice romantic spot to celebrate our Valetine's Dinner. Our overall experience, including the food and service, was great!
Our experience at Z Tejas was awesome. It was a great choice for us for our first Valentines as a married couple. It was also where we met for our first date together. The food was amazing. So hard to choose what to order it all is so good there.
This restaurant does everything well and their food is exceptional.
This place is the best place around. The foods was phenomenal and our waiter was more than helpful when it came to receommendations. he was knowledgeable and even told us if we did not like soemthing we could send it back and get something else! Well worth the money when you really want great food and service!!
I've been eating at Z since the first one opened and this location in Avery Ranch might have a different ambience than others, but the good food and service is always the same. Our Valentines date consisted of Chambord margaritas, Ahi Tuna, Surf & Turf and a Wedge Salad with Sirloin. The waitress even split the portions without us having to ask!
My husband and I had our Valentine's dinner here and really enjoyed it. The food and service were outstanding. We shared table side guacamole and some dumplings for appetizers and both were very good. Their appetizers are offered at a discount during happy hour which is a bonus. For our main course I had their signature stuffed pork tenderloin and it was delicious and my husband had a special valentine menu item surf and turf and thought it was delicious. The margaritas and cosmos were good too. Overall, we were glad we had chosen Z Tejas for our special occasion dinner.
I like z'tejas but my experience is that the food is hit out miss for me. For example just this week I ordered a Valentine's special and it was tasteless. Other items on the menu are very good. My friends order nearly the same thing every time they come because of this.
Had a reservation for 6:15 and we were seated promptly at 6:15. Our waiter was great and the food and drinks were yummy!
Nice, great I'm fine I would always recommend z Tejas can't wait to go back and bring all my friends I am going back tomorrow
Nice it was fun and nice servers managers rocked I would suggest anybody go there to have a great time appetizer margaritas and desserts are key
A little disappointed this time--busy might so I understood slow service, but food was mot up to usual standards. Enchilades were not warm enough. Maybe an off night, but just overall not as great as normal.
I've been a ZTEJAS fan for over 21 years, and every time a go back I experience why: consistently great food, drinks and service. If you are tired of regular Texmex found everywhere in Austin, and would like to try finer and we'll thought out Texas style dishes with a great twist, ZTEJAS won't disappoint you.
We had amazing time at Z Tejas!! And we will definitely will come again.👍
Reservation was perfect, seated immediately. Service was superb and the food was wonderful. We all had our favorite dishes and were not disappointed.
We enjoyed our lunch on Veterans Day. Their support of veterans drew us to check them out and we can't wait to return. My husband enjoyed the seafood enchiladas and I loved the tortilla soup. (Some of the best I've had). The warm cornbread is a real treat. Service is great although our server isn't a warm person, she was attentive and pleasant. We will definitely return and can't wait to try their happy hour.
I was pumped to get in at Z'Tejas on a Saturday during football season. We were seated quickly. Not crowded at 6 p.m. We received the food quickly. Tepid soup that tasted like tomato soup from a can with macaroni noodles. Disappointing to say the least. Previous experience at this same site was also a let down. I don't care much for the updated menu. The food was just not very good.
I had the pork tenderloin stuffed with poblano and chorizo, it was fantastic! It definitely had some heat but it was a welcome part of the meal. I would happily try it again. My wife had the crispy salmon and she too was very pleased. The Sixth Street margaritas are always good.
I've been to Z'Tejas several times over the last few years, probably once every other month. It used to be a consistently good choice. However, after my most recent visit I am no longer a big fan. First of all, there is a new menu format and it is not something I would expect from a nice restaurant. It reminds me more of being at Applebee's or Chili's...not good. The food seemed very bland and average as did the service. I'm really surprised that a restaurant as good as this went from being a great place to eat to very average or even below average.
The young staff were friendly even to older people.
Z Tejas is always our go to spot for a nice dinner.
You won't be disappointed eating here on the patio on a cool evening. We ate with a group of 7 outdoors, the tostada bites are a must for an appetizer and I had fish with rice and grilled veggies (had it on other occasions also). Our entire group loved their food and the ambiance on the patio. I can't remember on the other one time I ate at this location how the noise level is inside. The bar area inside though has a really good energy. You shouldn't be disappointed here.
A delicious array of foods that you don't find elsewhere. A nice selection of treats in the Tex Mex style. Nicely prepared for the tasting pallet. Gives new meaning to what Happy Hour should be like. Be ready for delicious food, drink and friendly caring service. You won't be disappointed and you will come back for more.
Great Food, priced very reasonable, service cannot be beat. We were celebrating a birthday, what a treat to have a complimentary desert for the birthday girl !!! We've dined here before, we will come back again because of all the right stuff...
Having been here for the first time, I was very pleased. The blackened catfish tacos were delicious!
Great food, good service(friendly, courteous, attentive), but very loud in the dining area
this is our goto place when we have friends or family in from out of town for the first time.
