Ztejas in Avery Ranch is a Tex-Mex restaurant that serves a range of traditional Mexican and Texan cuisines, as well as creative offerings that update old classics. The atmosphere at Ztejas in Avery Ranch is fun and casual. There is a full bar that features a range of specialty margaritas and other cocktails that will go well with the spicy, flavorful meals.
Ztejas Avery Ranch menu includes breakfasts like the Southern classic chicken and waffles and Tex-Mex dishes like stuffed breakfast rellenos or the south of the border Benedict. Lunch and dinner include pork nachos, chile con queso and street tacos.
Made reservation for 6 but showed up and got a table for 5. We were then sat in a corner next to a table of 20 sorority girls that were very loud and drunk. Our server thankfully was very attentive and nice and made up for all the other shortcomings.
First time disappointed at Z'Tejas. Place didn't seem as clean as it used to be. Always LOVED the Street Tacos but remembered them being made with tenderloin. Using sirloin now and they were tough and not nearly as tasty. Tostada on Shrimp Nacho was like a thin slice of brick. Might be back for the Chicken Fried Steak with ribeye but not for much else.
Drinks and shrimp appetizer were good.
Food was ok, we both had fish. Server
Was young and not attentive. Dessert,
Chipotle Brownie was ok.
Will keep looking for good location for my
Birthday dinner.
It was a slow nite at the restaurant but still had Great food with excellent service!
First visit to the restaurant and was very pleased. Had a business meeting / dinner and the noise level was good for carrying on conversation without straining to hear or be heard. The service was good and the price was reasonable.
I had the chili relleno sstuffed with apricots and pecans. It was outstanding!!
Well priced, good food. Great for a family gathering , corporate event or date.
Great southwester grill and bar. The service was very good on our last visit. This is one of our "go to" restaurants.
The food and restaurant were great, but OpenTable not so much. Our reservation through OpenTable did not make it to the restaurant. Fortunately they were able to accommodate us.
Had a great brunch with small family. Little loud but food is excellent. Service excellet.
GREAT FOOD GOOD AMBIANCE, GREAT PRICE AND GOOD SERVICE
Everything we have tried on the menu has been very good and the service has always been excellent. Eating inside can be very noisy, but weather permitting; the outside area is much quieter with minimal noise from the local highway. The bar scene is energetic with room at the bar or outside next to a nice fire pit. Strongly recommend getting reservations for Friday and weekend evenings.
Service was great; food was good and excellent ambiance in outdoor seating.
Had reservation for 7pm on Valentines Day...arrived early, seated immediately. Food was outstanding as well as the service. We did not feel rushed at all and enjoyed our dinner very much.
After being seated out on the patio the manager lit the heater keeping my date warm and in such a romantic setting. The food was great and served in an extremely timely manner. The steaks were cooked to perfection, the appetizer was delicious and the cornbread is not to be missed. I will definitely be returning and asking for the outside deck again.
Not as famous as the funky original Z'Tejas location on 6th Street or as scenic as the location near the Arboretum, but the menu is similar and the food is just as good. Thankfully, it's not as hectic/crowded as the other locations.
Really enjoyed everything about our experience. They were busy but working together. someone brought our our food and did not let it sit. Drinks came out fast.....all very good.
Very nice mid-day Sunday brunch, with $5 Bloody Marys and Mimosas
Been here a few times before writing this review, went with a friend for Happy Hour, there was great options then, nothing left me wanting more that time though.
Came again for Mother's Day because the rest of the party wanted to come, had some issues with our reservation, but the service after we sat down was great. That whole situation has since then been rectified, and generously so. Due to the customer service that has occurred, I once again returned and have been highly impressed.
The reservation was much smoother. The service was good, not that it was bad last time though. But this time the item I ordered was much better. I felt the other times the food was so so and didn't make me wanting more.
The mac and cheese (yes which is strange to get this at a more so "Tex Mex" place is odd) but I really enjoyed this meal much more than I did any other Tex Mex items I got previously. On this last trip I would completely return and have a good time.
I would recommend it to other people because the upper management actually fixes issues when it is brought to their attention.
They've changed their menu a few times now since I've gone originally, so I'm semi disappointed in the changes.
The food was up to the usual high standards. I was disappointed the Mexican martinis were one glass full...not the extra glass and a half left in the shaker - that was the only disappointment. Our server Gabe was terrific...one of the best I've ever had in 20+ visits to the Z. Positively among my top 5 restaurants all time and the best relleno EVER!!!
Dined early prior to attending play and were received promptly and seated promptly. Informed wait person that we had time constraints and he made every effort to see that our orders were taken, delivered, and check provided in a timely manner. We chose grilled ruby trout and chicken artichoke and mushrooms for our entrees. Both were well presented and delicious. Z became rather busy by the time we departed but we were well-pleased with service and food. Staff were very attentive during our visit and ensured that our needs were met.
This is my second visit to Z'Tejas. The first visit was excellent. The second visit not so much. We had a waiter that felt it necessary to tell patrons he has epilepsy and the multiple bruises on his face was due to him falling uncontrollably down the stairs and blacking out with a mild concussion. Yet he seemed distraught that he had to be at work. That would explain why he forgot things that we ordered. The tables outside should all be checked for balance. I think our original table was so imbalanced, I almost knocked over all of the glasses of water at the table.
Make a reservation if you plan to go or you could wait 30 - 45 minutes for your table. Food was good but nothing special. The corn bread which used to be one of my favorites has changed recently and is not as good tasted more like corn cake than bread. Restaurant is very loud so if you would like to have a conversation during your meal without shouting at each other pick someplace else.
Went here for dinner but ended up just eating appetizers. The shrimp tostadas and the southwestern crab cakes were both extremely good! Service was friendly and attentive- overall a very good experience.
We lived in Texas (Georgetown) until 2013 & Z'Tejas was one of my FAVORITE restaurants!!!! We ate mostly at the Avery Ranch location but also took "some Missouri visitors" to your downtown restaurant.
We were back in Georgetown visiting friends, & I really wanted to eat at Z'Tejas----so we took them there on Sunday, Nov. 1----THEY ALL ENJOYED THE FOOD AS MUCH AS I DO!!!! (The only thing that I would ADD to the menu would be A FEW more selections for "us"/the vegetarians of this world)!!!!
You're doing a GREAT job, THANK YOU for giving us a wonderful dining experience.
Absolutely loved this restaraunt and our waiter. Amazing food, great atmosphere, and incredible service. Definitely going back again soon.
We had a nice birthday dinner for my fiancé. Food is great there and the service was very nice.
But be aware it's a family restaurant, so many kids are there and it's a bit noisy. But other then that great experience
What a gem nestled off of Parmer and the 45 tollway. I was very pleased to find this near my home in Pflugerville. Took the wife to enjoy a very nice dinner. The service is beyond excellent. Well done Z!
Great! The food is fantastic and the atmosphere is lively.
Great food and service! Coming early for the appetizer and happy hour is definitely worth it. Only comment is the ceilings are high so noise level could be more than usual
Our Server was awesome - can't speak highly enough about him. He was incredibly attentive and ensured we had a great experience.
I thought since Z Tejas used Open Table that I would find a decent restaurant, what I did find was a very loud, family style restaurant with stale street tacos and wilted lettuce. I had to ask for a refill on my ice tea. Sorry, won't be back.
Ambience felt southwestern but not like a chain restaurant.
We have eaten here many times. The food is always great and the service is always perfect. We highly recommend Z"Tejas.
We had a wonderful waiter/server, Josh. He was very knowledgable about the menu and wine list. He was attentive but not over bearing. He is also a good conversationalist. My wife and I both had the specials, she had the salmon and I had the pork ribs, both excellent. ZTejas is one of our favorite restaurants to visit and we are never disapointed.
We eat at Z'Tejas on a regular basis and the food is always good and the service is usually excellent. Saturday the service was horrible. We will try Z'Tejas again because we have had so many great waiters.
Enjoyed the Street Tacos and Margaritas. The service was excellent.
We took my Mom to brunch to celebrate her 82nd b-day. Everything was good food & service wise.
What was a true disappoinment was that we sat next to a table of workout club folks who were obviously in a group or members of an organization. That part I didn't mind but they had a speaker who stood up (behind my mothers side of the table) & lecture (gave a presentation) for like 10 minutes during our meal.
Definitely not the atmosphere I expected for my Moms b-day. Disappointed
I love Z'Tejas they have great food and service. I will definitely come back! My children love their food, Z'Tejas one of their favorite restaurants!
We have been to both Z Tejas locations on the north side of town. They are both too loud. The food was okay, but not as good as we remember it to be from years past.
This used to be a favorite local chain but it does not seemed to have aged well. The food was well prepared but the menu was tired and dated. Service was adequate. We got the food we ordered and it was hot but we had to assist the waiter identify who ordered what, and pass the plates around the table while he stood in one spot. The outside patio was closed on a sunny day which was a disappointment. I would call ahead and make sure that is available. it would a fine spot to sit outside for a drink and appetizer. The inside has seen better days.
I doubt we go back. There are too many other fantastic eating experiences in the area. This was just a bit below par.
