One of the best items on the menu at ZTejas Arboretum is the five-cheese macaroni and achiote chicken. You get a combination of jack, cheddar, parmesan, Romano and bleu cheese with a crispy bacon gratin on top. For dessert, many try the skillet cobbler, which is made with seasonal fruit and comes a la mode.
Food was excellent, fair prices and portions. Street tacos are tasty and so is the pork tenderloin with fresh veggies and mash potatoes.
Very nice atmosphere and great food. Our waiter was wonderful.
Food is always good, the waitstaff was attentive
Food is interesting but not Tex-Mex. Margarita was so-so. I can say I have had better. Gustavo was an amazing server. Very attentive and entertaining. This is not some place I would go out of my way to visit but if I happen to be in the area it is a good option.
We had an excellent Valentine's day dinner there. We didn't get the package one, but ordered on our own. It was excellent, reasonable and the service was top notch. The only suggestion would be that they have a complex seating system for reservations that is to cumbersome and takes to long. We got seated in a spot we didn't like, and after a bit of a discussion with the person at the door, we finally got a table we enjoyed. To go that, they had to cancel one and put us in. It was 5:20 in the evening and shouldn't have been such an issue as they had lots of tables open. 6PM was another matter. Without a reservation I think it would be a very long waiting time.
Great place for bday brunch. Loved the make your own Bloody Mary bar.
Noise level is too high. Can’t hear person seated beside me much less across the table. Too many hard surfaces in the dining room. Good and service was excellent. Recommend making the catfish bites into a poboy or main dish- excellent!!! Complementary chocolate birthday pie slice was excellent wAy to finish a great celebration. Thank you very much!!
Good food, ambience, and service. Outstanding complimentary cornbread.
The food was disappointing! The appetizer tacos were plastic & tough. The main course was okay but way under par from previous occasions.
New to a Austin and tried this place out for our Anniversary. The entrees were good but the appetizers we ordered were fantastic. We will go back and just order apps and drinks!
It's nice to see that the cornbread at Z'Tejas is now, once again, complimentary. It's excellent. And the food is good too, even though the menu remains pretty much the same, year after year. Z'Tejas continues: no surprises here, but you know what you're getting.
It has been at least several years since I visited Z'Tejas Arboretum, and I guess things change. The brunch menu looked so good, but, well it didn't turn out that good. Food was marginal, service not attentive and ambiance average at best. I will say, though, that the hostesses and servers were all quite friendly. I think it'll be several more years before I go back, however. I appreciate the smiling faces, but it's not enough.
Great food and service. We had a good time with friends.
Food was great as well as the service. It was a little loud though for a business meeting over lunch. The chicken fried chicken was good!
Food was good as always but the service was very slow .
This was my second time eating there and everything was great! I would like to give extra acknowlegedment to our waiter Ben! He met both me and my friends expectatioms as we had a girls night out! Thanks.
Our waiter, Alex, was fantastic. The food was beyond compare. We’ll all be back with our friends!
I won’t be returning. First, when we walked in there was an awful smell. I don’t know if maybe something was wrong with the air conditioning, but they had those huge air conditioning portable units in a few different places. We tried to sit inside, but the smell was so bad that we asked to be moved outside. The outside patio and view is beautiful. Now, on to the food...the queso was decent as was the salsa and guacamole. I got the fish tacos as my entree and it was really bad. The tortillas tasted a bit stale. The fish inside was so small that it MAYBE covered half of the taco. The fish wasn’t fresh and was way too heavily breaded and was dry. I ended up having to cover my taco with queso to just get it down. Oh, and I only ate half of every taco because the rest of the taco was just empty without enough filling.
Great place to bring clients and friends for a nice lunch.
Andy has done a great job with customer service training of the staff and the menu choices are updated and delicious. Stopped going for a couple of years and it's now our "go to" place again.
Have not been in a while. Date night for my wife. Food was good. Server was slow and disinterested. Weird smell inside that was not very good. Had a mojito that was not crisp and tasted more like.water.
Happy hour with reduced price appetizers was a nice surprise. Our waiter was awesome - personable, attentive, and kept up with the six of us, including splitting the check.
Service was excellent. Best Asada I've had in the Austin area.
Good food, besides I’ll recommend more varieties new things in the menu
The food was delicious and the service was excellent!
The 20 year reunion of the high school cheerleaders was in progress and these six 50 somethings were in full cry after that second rita. Their husbands were just sort of looking sheepish and nursing their beers. The wait person got us a different seating so we could have a conversation. I get it, I'm not mad, not your fault you had pack baptist ladies that's not used to drinking. It was amusing, but we just needed to be able to hear one another . We'll be back and recommend you to our friends!
We've dined here many times over the years but hadn't been in a long time as we relocated out of Austin 5 years ago. We were in town and decided to eat here. The restaurant had a mildewy smell. There was a big fan/dehumidifier in the front lobby, so maybe they'd had a kitchen flood or something, but the smell was unappetizing and the carpet should have been ripped up and replaced, it looked old. Our server was really friendly but brought us cornbread, our appetizer, and our entrees within a span of less than 10 minutes. The place wasn't busy so I guess the kitchen got it all done fast, but we ended up not really eating much of the appetizer because the entrees came out so fast. Some pacing of the meal would have made it more enjoyable.
I was treated poorly at this restaurant and basically called a liar about my reservation with Open Table. Never put my friends or myself in this situation again.
Guests we invited really liked the food and service.
Food and service was outstanding!
The service was outstanding. The food was great and the views excellent
The customer service was not very good. They weren’t rude, just didn’t really care one way or the other. The food tasted terrible and was cold. Will not return.
Great service and food
All 4 of us had outstanding food (wedge salad, chicken fajitas, enchiladas, chicken fried steak). The tableside guacamole and queso was GREAT!
Great service and outstanding food (apps, entrees, & deserts)! We were able to sit outside and watch the sunset while we ate which really set a great tone for the evening. Super awesome staff made the Birthday celebration lots of fun! Highly recommended by our whole party!
This is definitely more suited to Happy Hour.Nice view from the deck, but the inside space lacks atmosphere and is noisy. We have been here several times and the food is consistently average - not sure why, but just doesn’t taste as good as the Downtown location. Our waiter, Aaron was excellent, and the service was the best part of our visit.
Always a solid choice, delish food and nice atmosphere!
We love Z Tejas!
A fun place with a great menu! Happy hour appetizers were a deal!
We had an awesome waitress. I believe her name was Allison! We had a great time and the food was very good!
