Zov's Bistro Tustin Ratings and Reviews
When we purchased our home, twenty one years ago, the salesman told us about a neighborhood gem one mile away. That gem was Zov's. It is still a gem. Like other high-end resturants, portions are small and prices are hgh. Oh, but the taste! Highly recommend.
Zov's has both a bistro and a cafe/bakery; we ate in the bistro. The food was excellent. This time we tried the 5-hour braised lamb and short rib papparadelle. Both excellent, especially the lamb. The lentil soup and butternut squash soup were also fine. We only finished about half the dinner, so had an excellent lunch on Sunday.
On the downside (for us), the light level is dim to dismal, and no flashlight was offered to aid us as we pored over the menu.
We both felt though that the noise level was too high, coming in part from the live music, which transitioned to recorded music, and a largish boisterous party at an adjacent table.
The setting is a bit unusual, being neither truly indoors nor outdoors, but in a semi-open structure that appears to me like a harden tent.
Great place with outstanding food and service. We celebrated my husband’s birthday with friends. Even though the restaurant was having a private event going on, we still received great service and food, which we appreciate. My daughter’s steak was served a little under done and they took it right back a cooked a new one that was perfect. And we didn’t have to wait forever. Love Zov’s Bistro!
Although pricy, what good thing isn't? The food was good, the service great, the ambiance good to great, it bit noisy but it sounded alive and busy. The Mediterranean style food was quite abundant, taking home left overs from every plate, and management checked into the table twice to make sure our experience was good. I was a bit shell-shocked from the sticker price, but I'd return because it was predictably good - and when it comes to food, I prefer that.
I always have a lovely time at Zov's. It's a great place to meet up with friends, as we did on this visit; it was their first time. We enjoyed many of the appetizers (including the hummus and the cheeses) and the lamb meatballs. And my entree was the beef and chicken kebobs, which were excellent. Oh, and I enjoyed a pomegranate margarita.
Zov's is staple in Tustin. I celebrated my birthday with friends and the food was delicious. The service was extremely good. Our server could not have been nicer. We were not rushed and felt very comfortable lingering through lunch. It has been one of my favorite restaurants for years.
A dinner at Zov's is always a wonderful experience. We received excellent and attentive service, which included food and wine recommendations. We enjoyed a selection of cocktails and wine as well as five delicious appetizers. And our entrees were delicious.
We have dined at Zov's many times and we wanted to get together with friends for a nice dinner. We were seated promptly and ordered cocktails which is my only complaint. For the money they are very small. It is made up by the fact that there is no corkage for wine you bring in and we had brought a nice bottle to share.
We started with appetizers, Hummus, eggplant dip and a great feta/jalapeno dip which I absolutely love. My wife had the Filet Mignon and which was delicious and the other lady had the kebobs 2 ways, which is always great and one of my favorites. The other gentleman and I both had the 5 day lamb which is one of the best things on the menu and there is so much and it is so filling we both had to take some of it home.
All in all a delicious, relaxing meal with fronds which you expect at most restaurants, but are never disappointed at Zovs.
As regulars, it gets frustrating when we feel taken advantage of. We didn't have a server for almost 20 mins or even a drink order taken. It wasn't busy either.
Food was sub par today and then took another 20 mins to get our check. I had to go and ask the bartender to find our server to get our check.
Birthday Time at Zov's! It had been too long since our last dining experience at Zov's, and I must say, it was wonderful being there again, this time for my birthday. We were warmly greeted and shown to our table. Justin, our server was attentive and took good care of our party.
Their Sojuk Arrabbiatia is no longer on their menu, and when I mentioned how much I enjoyed it, Justin was quick to let me know that the chef would be able to replicate it for me, sans the spicy beef sausage-it would be chicken instead. It was delicious! Just as I remembered it to be, just a bit less spicy without the beef sausage. It was wonderful, and so kind of the chef to go to the trouble of putting that together for me. A special birthday gift!
The others dining with us had the Angel Hair pasta ("Wonderful!"), the short rib papparadelle (cleaned his plate), kebob two ways, and the burger. Everyone was very happy with their choices. The restaurant surprised me with their Ridiculous Sundae and we also managed to make two orders of their Crème Brulee somehow disappear!
And, btw, if you go, don't forget they have a more casual café right next door, with a patio. Their bakery makes the most amazingly beautiful desserts and great cookies, breads, etc.. So, don't forget to stop by to pick up some wonderful treats for later!
All in all, it was a pleasure returning to Zov's. And, I can't wait to go back, soon!!!
