About Zona Rosa
Traditional Mexican food, street food and amazing fresh juice Margaritas in a beautiful and fun setting. Zona Rosa's kitchen it's inside a 1946 Airstream trailer converted into a "Taqueria".
We have a rooftop deck & bar with spectacular Brooklyn views. Our roof deck feels very open and breezy during the summer, making it perfect for sunset watching with friends, and during the winter months is fully heated, warm and cozy, with a snow globe feeling.
Our Chef Ivan Garcia is also Chef and owner of nearby MESA COYOACAN, the highest Zagat rated Mexican restaurant in NYC and a Bib Gourmand Michelin "critics favorite" for 4 years on a row.
ZONA ROSA pays homage to the bohemian neighborhood of Mexico City with the same name that during the 60's and 70's was the home of many influential Mexican artists and a place where great food and a lust for life was found everywhere.

Zona Rosa Ratings and Reviews
The food was good and the service was attentive, but they also literally rushed us out the door to make room for other people. We were lingering over our drinks and they had someone come over and talk to us. There were 2 other empty tables, so this seemed unnecessary.
The service was great and the fresh chips were a nice touch, but the margaritas were average and the food was average, too. In short, it's a fine choice if you are looking for something like this in the area, but it isn't worth traveling for -- the prices are close to what you'd pay in Manhattan for food and drinks that would be much, much better.
It was just a casual Saturday night until we stepped into this wonderful restaurant! We were a party of 4 and we all loved it!! Every single dish was surprisingly delicious. Speedy service , amazing ambiance and original Margaritassss!!!! Love it love it love it!!! Thank you!!!!
Adam is the person whomade this night go so well. Had made a reservation at Zona Rosa and it was an unusually warm night for October. It was perfect actually. We were seated on the rooftop, the last available. Adam was our server and immediately offered the special with Poblano peppers stuffed with meat and a cream sauce...see the pic posted. It was quite nice, that and watermelon margarita plus a Modelo Especially which came nice and chilled. The peppers also came with a side of rice. Adam was constantly checking on us, making great short conversation and was a pleasure to deal with. I originally had a 4 star rating, and I changed it to 5 star after his total service. Also ordered mango margarita and a shot of Casa Nobles Añejo Tequila . Did not realized the tequila came with fried grasshopper...yes this was the 1st time I had it and a bloody mart type chaser. Like I said it was a perfect night.
As I walked in the host was ready to seat me (i had made reservations on open table) I requested seating with a view but was told we'd have to wait at least 20 mins for that. The food was good nothing to write home about. I had the tamale (pork) which was very good as well as the asada steak tacos. The other food i had which was the fish tacos and chicken mole was mediocre. I wouldn't recommend those. The waitress was not the best she never introduced her self but came to the table and said "drinks?" I was confused and thought that maybe she had the tables mixed up but nope she was actively trying to take our order. Then the waitress rubbed me the wrong way when we were leaving and I asked her to wrap everything. She did not include the chips and guac that was $10 and when I asked her about it she went back and forth with me to say that I didn't specify that i wanted the guac ... which was a little annoying and a bit unprofessional. Other than that this place is cool for quick drinks and appetizers I def wouldn't make it a date night place or go for anything special.
Went here the other night for the first time with my husband. We were seated on the rooftop, which was so lovely. Prices were decent for Manhattan. Got our food surprisingly fast, but mine was barely warm. Suspicious. Left kind of a bad taste in my mouth (literally).
I went here Saturday night, 7/16 The food was ok, drinks good. The problem was the waitress. She was drunk and rude. I paid by cc and she asked me did I have an issue and why didn't I leave her a tip. I politely stated her tip was left in cash on the table. After she looked and saw it she laughed it off. Very rude and unprofessional.
I was really excited about dining at Zona Rosa since most of the reviews I read before arriving raved about how great this place was. Sadly enough I end up being very disappointed with my visit here. My complaint with this place is not so much about the atmosphere, but rather the food and the waiter service. The steak tacos I ordered were super bland and the chicken dish (sorry the name slips me) my boyfriend ordered was covered in a really dark weird tasting sauce accompanied with bland rice and super stiff refried beans. The pina margarita I ordered was just meh! and the Jamaican margarita my boyfriend had was very nasty. I can't even begin to identify the type of alcohol used in that thing. The waiters were friendly; however, after having to ask for napkins several times and each time only receiving two it became quite clear we would need to stretch what we had since receiving anymore then two at time is just against their rules.
All and all it was not a terrible experience; however, I would not recommend my friends or family to come here and I won't be rushing back myself anytime soon. To each is own and it's just not for me.
Overall, a really enjoyable time. Worth the trip. The guac and chips were so good (but you have to pay for it even though when it's mentioned, it comes across as complimentary). Was not a fan of the shrimp ceviche BUT the chicken enchiladas were AMAZING!!!
Very busy for a Wednesday night - very friendly and comfy. Would definitely go again.
