Zolo Grill Ratings and Reviews
The restaurant was SWAMPED on a Tuesday and so service was not good at all. I had made a reservation and the staff was friendly but very unavailable to our table so that was disappointing. The food was delicious and it was a festive atmosphere so it was still ok.
I met a colleague for lunch mid-week, and had a reservation. The place was almost empty when we arrived at 11:40 am and I was seated at a table in the highest possible traffic lane. Every member of the wait staff passed by, yet it was ~15 minutes before we were offered a beverage. The food was okay but nothing special. More customers came in around noon, but it was never crowded (and there was never a visible reason for us to be seated in the 2nd worst seat in the restaurant).
Went to Zolo for our anniversary on July 3. Made a reservation, because we figured things would be very busy with the Dead show nearby. And, yes, it was very busy, but the place seem appropriately staffed to handle it. Our food came out before our drinks. Not sure if that was the fault of the bar or our server, but it was pretty lame.
My only disappointment was that I made the reservation through Open Table. We had to split our group of 4 into two two-tops and hope we'd be able to be near each other. Also, the only opening, even then, wasn't until 9:15 pm. We walked in and found 3/4 of the restaurant had available tables and were told this scenario was because what Open Table has available to them is limited. Really wish we'd thought to call the restaurant directly. Lesson for next time.
Zolo Grill never disappoints. Six of us dined there for a combine Father's Day/Birthday celebration. The smoked chicken enchiladas are amazing. Their signature banana cream pie is big enough to share with the table. The zoloritas are really great house margs. The ambiance and the service are top notch. It's a gem.
We enjoyed a wonderful lunch from appetizers to desserts. We started with guacamole and churros. The atmosphere is wonderful with many open doors and windows. The artwork is modern and provided a beautiful backdrop for our celebration photos. Alec our server took great care of us too which was the icing on the cake.
Every time we have dined at Zolo, we have thought the food was very tasty and that the servers were very attentive and careful. My partner has celiac disease and is very sensitive to gluten-contaminated foods -- the chefs and servers are all very knowledgeable about safe gluten-free options on the menu (beverages and food) and each time, they have taken extra care to inform us about cross-contamination issues in fryers and on grill surfaces. The gluten-free options they have are just as delicious as the gluten-full menu options, so we both leave with happy, full stomachs!!
Favorite Happy hour (until 6) items include the pork ribs, tamales, and blue corn fried oysters. I wish the Ahi Tuna salad was available all the time, not just Wednesdays -- it's a favorite of many-years standing. Margaritas are very good -- you have your choice of sweet or tart, along with the usual salt/no salt.
We come to Zolo on occasion for dinner especially with out of town guests. A great restaurant with awesome food yet not fancy or formal but fun. We tried their brunch for the first time and Wowo, fabulous, we really enjoyed the fresh whole foods prepared with care and expertise.
Zolo's is reliable for perfect drinks, food, boisterous but fun ambiance. Chicken enchiladas meld spice and cheesy goodness into the perfect entree; I keep thinking I'll try something else and seldom do. Drinks and guacamole and other appetizers are always good, as are tamales, salads, fish. The comfort level of home cooking but the fun of going out and having delicious food. Good complexity of flavors and textures.

We ordered the salsa sampler which was great for sharing. The salsa ranged from sweet, to salty and spicy! Our Entrees were delicious, there we several taco options.
Zolo has and extensive margarita menu and the ability to create your own custom margarita! YUM!
Even though we had a reservation for 6:30, we were made to wait almost 25 minutes for our table. Zolo's did apologized and did comp us a lovely appetizer. Great dinner and service. It was a bit noisy, but quieted down after 7:30 or so...
We go there often and will continue to do so.

In the past, Zolo has been consistently reliable: Tasty, friendly, and noisy. So we decided to go out for dinner on Valentine's Day: 4 courses for 55. That seemed like a good deal. But not. When the food is sub par, the service spotty and the ambience dreadful. We opted to try each option on the 2 choice courses. Things began badly. I had the salad. It came with a strange sour avocado crema. The salad was literally drowning in the dressing that was literally distasteful. The shrimp tostada was okay, passable. That was as good as things got. 2nd course was pork with a Colombian corn cake. Both were dry and tough. The other option was buffalo meatballs that had no discernible texture. The sauce was generic with some heat that tasted like the spice in every course. The Lobster sausage was another case of food that left a sour after taste and the sirloin steak came with a cream that tasted like the salad dressing. The sauce brought back bad memories. Once again the Colombian cake appeared on the plate, as dry as it was before. The desserts were edible. That's as good as it got. In terms of service, plates sat on our table from one course to the next. We basically had to bus our own table. The music was an assemblage of 70-80's blaring rock- James Brown and a young Michael Jackson for a romantic dinner? Guys, please stick to what you know. This was a memorable meal - in a bad way.
I've been there 2 times before and have been blown away. This time? Meh...
Steak special was grisly, and had been overdone and then was chewy.
They kindly replaced with their tamales which were largely tasteless...
Then the trout had too many peppers...
Dessert ( made in house ) was pretty much out of the can banana cream pie...
The waitress was Very nice and accommodating ...
Atmosphere was very good...
But too much money for the food this time. Will go back and hopefully better...
