My personal experience was over-priced mediocre food with poor service. The outdoor seating was nice.
Great atmosphere and menu selection. I usually have my favorites, but this time I tried the blintzes, and it was somewhat disappointing. They looked like crepes, not blintzes, and there was very little cheese. The other dishes delivered on taste.
First time back since COVID snd couldn't wait to get my usual. It was a disappointment. Service was slow slow (understaffed perhaps) and food was, well, mediocre. No surprise after waiting nearly an hour for it to arrive. Very very disappointing for long term and consistent customers. Will of course give it a try again but wait a bit and hope for normalcy to return.
Service was mehhh. Took forever to get drink orders in. Kept reminding server of what we were waiting on. Food was as always good
I like the place and I go there for the twist and spices they put in their dishes. I guess though the chef has to work on the consistency of his/her dishes. For example last time I went the moroccan salmon missed the spices that made me drive to the place
We used to love this place but sadly will not be going back. We showed up on Sunday on time for our reservation but after being sat, were not visited again for 25 minutes to place our order; this was after we had to get up and flag the waitress. We sent back the BLT because bacon was almost raw, the fruit was clearly unwashed, had stems still on, pieces were rotting and looked completely inedible. We then sent the omelet back because there was a hair on top and the replacement pancake order was burnt to a crisp. We ended up just sharing on meal in fear of ordering anything else. The waitresses were very apologetic and kind but overall we were not happy that our brunch was ruined and we left there hungry yet still paid a portion of the bill for food eaten. Not sure what happened to this place but we cannot recommend to others based on this very poor experience.
We always try new restaurants and this one always showed up but we never tried it until last night. AMAZING Is all I have to say! The whole experience from start to finish was impeccable. The menu is very "farm to table" and we love that. If you have ate here, you are missing out.
We have been to this restaurant before and loved it. Last night the service was terrible. Not sure we will be back.
Love everything about Zola! The food and drinks are great. I also enjoy the atmosphere and decor of the restaurant!
I had the Cowboy Cobb salad. It’s kind of a deconstructed salad with smoked salmon. After digging in, I realized the arugula was wilted and the canned corn dry, like it’s been out of the can for a day or two. Couldn’t finish. Also, we paid extra for bread and even the bread was dry. One of the pieces was an end piece! Why serve that?
Also, our server seemed kind of stressed as she forgot to get us plates for our bread, brought the check without us asking for it. It wasn’t like it was a busy place at the time. I get that the restaurants are struggling, but that should make them even more eager to be at their best.
The prices are really high so I don’t think I got value for my money. Still, I have great memories from previous visits so I’ll try again.
Was nice to be served by the owner.
The food delicious, all perfect!
The food was really good
Following covid protocol. Food was good but kind of cold.
As always, the food at Zola was fantastic. The only negative thing I have to say is that the food took an unusually long amount of time to come. Fortunately, our server was very apologetic and when it did arrive it was perfect. The perfect spot for an Ann Arbor date night.
While our food was delicious, we did run into an issue with one of the allergy notes not being implemented by the kitchen staff. Our appetizers also took quite some time to get to our table, even though we had a 5:30PM reservation with a less than 25% full restaurant. Additionally, we found out later that a sweet family member had called ahead (not once, but twice) to pay for our meal, but unfortunately the staff failed to put this through and we didn't find out about this kind gesture until days later. When that family member called to see why their card hadn't been charged, they were told that it was because of Covid ... this is potentially the worst excuse I've ever heard for someone failing to type in numbers to the credit card machine. Regardless, we do still like Zola for it's good food and easy parking, but we would have appreciated a smoother experience this time around.
Great food. Service was very good. Unfortunately, had the table across from the entry door so every time, it opened we got a blast of cold air. Good news is it improved our air circulation!
Love to be sat right away and food was great! Will go back.
We didn't have a great experience and I chalk it up to getting going again under these peculiar covid circumstances as we have had great Zola experiences in the past. We had a 9p reservation and were told to wait for 15-20m out in the car when I called just before 9p. I called again at 915 and we were told to come in. It took a long time for our drinks to come. The server wanted to take our complete food order straightaway. She same back while we were still eating to ask if we wanted boxes. Then the bill appeared. Shortly after 10p the house lights came up and the music was turned off. The staff started their closing work so we got the hint. No offer of dessert or coffee. Two of us had steak, which was reportedly good, although the salad greens were over vinegary. I had the shrimp and it was salty to the point of almost being inedible Under other circumstances I would have sent it back. We don't often go to this Zola since the other one is much closer. I would give it another try after more time goes by. I trust things will get pulled together by then. I would only recommend to a friend earlier in the day.
Food took a long time to come out and then it was cold
Service was really slow! Took at least 10 mins for anyone to come to the table after being seated and another 20 mins to get a cocktail. Food was served cold, but after we commented to the staff, they were on it. Too many places in AA to accept that level of service and food quality.
Our dining experience was fabuous, the food, the drinks and the atmospher were wonderful! Would definitely go back again!
Had a reservation and they never allowed us to sit. Told us they’d call us when table was ready and never did.
Good food uneven service.
We had an excellent experience at Zola! Everyone was extremely clean. And food was amazing! Love the specialty menu as well:)
Great experience! Lots of menu choices... will have to go back soon to try more items!
Food was amazing! Highly recommend the whole fish. Great drinks too
There is no in-person dining. When it said they have outdoor seating in January, we assumed there would be heaters outside. No. No heaters. It was 27 degrees and nothing around to block the wind or try to keep us warm.
My previous in-person experiences with Zola Bistro have been great. Great food, great service, a little loud, but usually great.
Definitely should note on the booking page for reservations that there are no heaters for outdoor dining during COVID required closing.
The service gets worse every time we go. It wasn’t busy yet incredibly poor service
Frankie was great!
Here’s the deal... I’m plant-based. Zola Bistro is a favorite place because they have a delicious wild rice vegan burger. I was so disappointed when we sat down to learn that they changed the menu and removed the only thing I eat there. They had a falafel burger, which I ordered, but it was awful. It was served on a thick, hard to eat bread, which I didn’t bother eating. I only picked at the falafel. And unlike the burger I like, this falafel thing did not come with fries. Another disappointment. No reason to return
As always Zola Bistro did not disappoint. The creative new menu was excellent. I’d recommend the Red Dragon cocktail and the cauliflower fritters. However the service was unusually slow for just ordering drinks and a few small plates. The drinks took really long. That being said, we love the place, and will be back
Loved the ambience and food at Zola Bistro. Ordered the waffles and the turkish eggs and both were delicious. Enjoyed a bellini and smoothie with it
The place was nearly empty, probably due to COVID. But maybe because other people have had not such experiences, like me for the last 3 visits. Food is ok for being original, there hasn't been an update to the menu for a while. It takes a while to place the food and drink order. The food and drinks take too long to get. This time, my omelet was cold when it was brought to me. I had to ask for the toast to be brought. It was brought, but it arrived after I finished my omelet, and was also cold. It didn't even melt the butter. I will find another place to have lunch with friends.
This was my first time going to a restaurant since the beginning of March when Covid shut everything down. They had very good safety precautions-masks, spacing of tables, and doors and windows open. Our server was pleasant and helpful, the food was delicious, and it was so great to eat out after 6 months!
Great food, clean and responsible staff!
Outstanding food and service!
Great outdoor option. Consistent food. Great service at this location.
We love this place
Horrible, Horrible, horrible. Hostess was super rude and our server wasn't the greatest. We had to keep asking for water and he forgot our coffee more than once. My husband's farm house omelet was absolutely disgusting. It looked like they took the eggs, and folded it over some deli ham and peppers. My frittata looked like something I could of made at home. Both were greasy and had nooooo flavor. The only plus was the coffee, bread, and my side of sausage. Wayyyyy to over priced for what we got. 🤦♀️
