Zodiac at Neiman Marcus - San Diego Ratings and Reviews
Always a great place to have lunch. We were a group of 7 and they forgot the small cup of chicken consume' and I had to ask for it. Came during our meal. Forgot one person's water. Overall non attentive and not happy with the service. They had already added in a 20% tip which I wouldn't have given.
Henry continues to be a star Server for me. This is my 3rd time to Zodiac in 2 months, and will continue to be a Sunday lunch spot for special occasions and the like. The food is excellent and the service outstanding. The ambiance is great, and does not disappoint. Already have our next Sunday lunch planned, can't wait. Would be remiss in not mentioning the very tasty popovers. YUM.
Wonderful service. I was able to get the soup and sandwich and they tailored the sandwich for me. Loved the kids menu. My daughter is quite tired of sliders, chicken nuggets and spaghetti for kids so it was nice to have a menu that gave her healthy, tasty choices.
I am becoming a regular. I only recently learned of this gem from a friend who invited me here a few weeks ago. I told another friend about it, and we met here for another Sunday lunch. When we arrived, there was just a few other people seated, and it remained this pleasant number by the time we left. The peaceful atmosphere coupled with attentive server and staff, makes this a new go-to favorite. We started with the complimentary small cup of soup, which was very tasty. We each had a popover, which was fresh out of the oven, and so good! I ended up ordering the same chicken milanese dish, because the first time was so memorable. The flavor and presentation was excellent. We were there to celebrate my birthday (earlier this month) and my friend celebrates hers in November, so we have reservations to return then. I plan to (of course) visit a few times in between. Such a hidden gem. You will not be disappointed.
I always enjoy Zodiac at Neimans. I usually go with my girlfriends. I take my mother-in-law there also because she can hear the conversation since it is on the quieter side--she has a hearing impairment.
The service is always excellent with very good food. And you can always shop a little on the way out OR in if you like.
Hi...my friend and I had a lovely time..our lunch was delicious....my only thought was the trout I ordered could have had fewer capers....looked like a rabbit ran across my plate😉. We will recommend and enjoy again....if I order trout I will ask for the capers to be on the side😊.
A friend invited me to lunch at Zodiac at Neiman-Marcus. I had no idea it was there and had been for 30 years.
Our wonderful server Tony had only been there two months so with the two of us it was like baptism by fire, lol. He did make my first experience memorable and we had a great time.
After crispy popovers and berry butter, we split a starter, the pan-fried lump crab cakes on arugula with daikon radish a delicious remoulade and lemon.
Then we both ordered salads, she the pine nut-crusted chicken salad with sautéed lightly breaded chicken breast, spinach, tomatoes, feta cheese, balsamic vinaigrette and a pine nut garnish. I had the crab louie salad with what looked like a ½ lb. of jumbo lump crab meat on a romaine wedge with heirloom tomatoes, egg, avocado, cucumber and louie dressing. The presentation was amazing and the taste simply delicious, wow, so much crabmeat.
Of course my friend asked to see the dessert menu and Tony brought it saying there were two items not on it. Since I got to pick I decided on the lemon cake, one of the non-menu items. Well when he brought it out, wow incredibly beautiful, layers of lemon cream and sponge cake with lemon cream icing and garnished with white chocolate and strawberries and cream. Mighty fine!
Have gone to Zodiac for over 20 years but not for a few years.
The food was so disappointing.
Still the wonderful popovers and broth before the meal
But our chicken salad that used to be fabulous was nothing more than chicken and mayonnaise
The bread was stale, the presentation like a coffee shop and the prices like a five star NY restaurant. The fruit was cut up in tiny pieces as if for a 3 yr old.
Over a 40 minute period, I asked our waiter 3 times for more water and he never brought it.
I finally got up and asked someone else.
The dessert for my friend's birthday was ONE NM cookie cut up in fourths and a squirt of
Ready Whip on either side! The cookie was not fresh.
So disappointed- used to be such a pleasure.
This is the only place I eat at Fashion Valley. My young adult son and I were Christmas shopping and had a lovely lunch. We both had the salmon. Service was great as always! Tables for two diners are a little close together but for a lunch while shopping, it's fine. May be awkward on a date.
