For 70 years, the Zodiac at Neiman Marcus in the Downtown Dallas location has been the place to dine in Dallas. Housed on the 6th floor of the flagship store, Stanley Marcus first conceived this restaurant as a convenience for out of town customers who were spending a full day shopping in the store.

Service initially was a little slow too long for initial server contact. Even though another server took our drink order it took about 10 minutes to get a simple mimosa. When we ordered coffee it was served cold. Not impressed at any price point. We have attended this for years a very disappointing this year..

My choice was the orange soufflé. It came out as a jello mold with mandarin oranges on top of it. I was expecting a hot soufflé . Poppy seed dressing for fruit was yummy. Good experience for lunch.

This was a 90th birthday celebration for our mother. The food was delicious. For starters, the popover was scrumptious. The pot roast was the most tender that I’ve ever eaten. My husband and I were delighted with the pot roast. I was really impressed when my mother’s entree of salmon tacos was redone. The original recipe was very spicy with jalapeños; she only took one bite. We asked for the salmon tacos to be redone without jalapeños and for the sauce to be put on the side. In a matter of minutes, the revised salmon tacos appeared, and she thoroughly enjoyed them. My sister enjoyed her French dip sandwich and strawberry/mozzarella cheese dish. Then the birthday girl got complimentary cake with a candle. The hostess and server were friendly and attentive. My husband realized that he had used the wrong card, and the server graciously credited the first card and debited the second card. The Zodiac Room made this 90th birthday celebration one to remember!

Lunch was quite a treat. The ambiance of the room was inviting, fresh, and elegant. Service was impeccable (kudos to Raul). Menu selections were varied for whatever one wants from soup and salad to hearty hamburgers. Our meals were excellent and tastefully presented. Prices for selections were surprisingly reasonable given the dining experience at such a well-known establishment. We felt quite welcomed and that our business was appreciated. We had lunch at The Zodiac Room on Saturday and the experience was so enjoyable. The dining room has been renovated and looks amazing. The fixtures, flooring, and wonderful contemporary art provides pzazz to the new Zodiac Room. The pop-overs with cinnamon butter, and the warm/hot chicken broth to start were just perfect. We shared the the Strawberry Salad with salmon, and the California Club Sandwich. Both were delicious, and we came home with leftovers. Both Martha and Elizabeth provided attentive and genuine service excellence. You'll be hard pressed to find better wait staff in Dallas. If you're looking for a quite and luxurious place to dine for lunch, choose the Zodiac. You can enjoy viewing the wall mounted albino tortoise shell on floor 3, and 4 original Matisse paintings on floor 2, all procured by Mr. Marcus himself. Upon the conclusion of lunch, you're treated to a tasty mint chocolate. Enjoy!
