Zodiac at Neiman Marcus – Downtown Dallas
Wonderful lunch spot. Impeccable service. Noise level is such that you can actually have a conversation. Had lunch with three friends who I see o ly once or twice a year. We had a great meal and the waitstaff didn’t rush us to leave. Couldn’t been more accommodating with beverage refills. I always get the same thing- trio of salads with mandarin orange gelatin. Salmon and chicken dishes got raves also. And who doesn’t love the popovers with compounded butter?
I chose the Zodiac Room for Mother's Day lunch because it's one of the best places to dine in Dallas! The food, service, ambiance and overall quality are second to none. We had a wonderful time and I will definitely return in the future! Thank you!
We had an incredible time celebrating Mother’s Day at the Zodiac! From the champagne to the appetizers to the meal to the service - it was simply perfection!! Highly recommend!
I tried the classic Neiman Marcus chicken salad however not what I expected. I expected a baked souffle. Needed to lunch at one of THE Dallas Institutions.
We had a very nice time celebrating the birthday of one of our closest family friends! We dined on deviled Eggs with Smoked Salmon; Shrimp Beignets; Shrimp and Corn Chowder; Roasted Salmon with Risotto, Mushrooms, Carrots, Spinach in a cream sauce; Neiman Marcus Pot Roast, and for dessert, Lemon Cake, and Vanilla Bean Creme Brulee! The entire meal was deliciously FABULOUS!
Wonderful service! Very special experience- like stepping back in time where you expect Hollywood royalty to be seated at their special table discussing their next project. Gorgeous strolling model, exquisite food, and impeccable service. Not to be missed.
Good food. Service was inconsistent.
Nothing that I will remember, ambience very poor, I think they were under remodeling. Food below average. The only thing that save the afternoon was de waitress, great service on that regard. We won’t come back.
This is a lovely restaurant for a special occasion, date or after-shopping lunch with the girls. The menu is varied with enough choices for every taste, the food is delicious and the service is impeccable. Probably the the best thing about the NM cafes and restaurants is the consomme' and popovers with strawberry butter - all are served complimentary as you wait for your meal. Don't miss the chance to enjoy the downtown Dallas location!
Extremely disappointed in the quality of food and our service.
This is one of my favorite places to eat. I have never had a bad experience at this restaurant.
Excellent service, beautiful setting but atmosphere was to be desired, pretty empty...
Delicious lunch, as always. I appreciated the markings for GF food on the menu. Would love gluten free bread to be added, just to be able to have the strawberry butter. Lovely time at the Zodiac Room.
As usual, outstanding dining experience. Food was impeccable... especially the pop overs with strawberry butter! Waiter was attentive and wonderful.
Charming, iconic restaurant we have heard about for years. Enjoyable environs with friendly wait staff
This is truly one of our cities best restaurants! The menu is diverse with each dish lovingly prepared.
The Zodiac at Neiman Marcus is always a great treat. Even if you just go for the popovers with strawberry butter...divine!!!
We had a great experience, Zodiac and their people are so classy and service oriented! Food was amazing!
Wonderful lunch get together with girlfriends. Delicious food, excellent service, unrushed atmosphere... lots of time to visit. Plus valet parking on a rainy day. Fabulous. :)
Pre-lunch, they provide lovely tastes - bread and broth and popovers with strawberry butter - lunch itself was a great value in an upscale, relaxed environment. The food was well-prepared. The croque madame was among the better versions I’ve had - would recommend. Mostly business people and ladies lunching. Service was great and staff were amenable. Coffee was very nice too. Would visit again.
Great service and excellent food. Great for discussion of business relationships.
Service was terrible
There on Valentines Day and we were worried about it being packed and having to experience one ofthose mother day dinners where everyone gets confused. Not the case here alway tables opened. The food was excellent the prices were fine but even though the place was not packed. There did seem to be a disconnect between the waiter and the kitchen. Our waiter Victor was great but after placing an order for our entree after a substantial amount of time he come back to reconfirm the order so I don't know where the confusion was but we did wait another period of time. They did try to ease the pain by kept offering us more popovers. Overall we were not in a rush and the experience was filled with good memories.
It was delightful! We had lunch for my birthday and they brought out some delicious lemon cake for dessert. It was such a nice touch.
They have changed the menu and do not have the delicious salads that they use to.
Recommend but With reservations... Just very expensive. Not something I would do except for a special occasion at NM.
It was really too.loud because a large group was in there for a birthday celebration. I think they were very inconsiderate to anyone else dining in the restaurant from 2-3 PM. It was just entirely too.loud. it was a less enjoyable experience due to them. I don't think an intimate cafe setting is the right setting for a large party. The food and wine were both wonderful! Our servers were wonderful!
Excellent food and service! Our wIt person Victor very nice and welcoming. Ambience very nice!
fun spot before and after shopping. a classic worth repeating
Since I was visiting Dallas for business, I wanted to visit the flagship store downtown. My mother worked in cosmetics when she was a girl. I had read about the iconic recipes and wanted to see for myself.. I was not disappointed. The service is perfect and lunch was superb. Loved every minute I was there.
Menu was extremely limited. I struggled to even find anything that sounded good. Popovers tasted like they were cooked a little too long. And even though the strawberry butter is strawberry, you can't tell. It doesn't have any flavor. Also, I don't want cold hard butter with my bread. As my main course, I had the citrus salad, which was also not good. Lastly, I had lemon cake for dessert, which tasted like it probably came out of the freezer. It was dry and definitely not fresh. Overall a major disappointment. I know good food and there are far too many restaurants that are much much better.
With family in town we’d been playing host all weekend. We decided to have lunch at Neiman’s after a little morning shopping. The service is excellent, and the food is exactly as you’d expect; flawless. My mother-in-law, who normally finds the ability to drop a complaint at anything, really enjoyed herself. This is a great spot to take clients, have a date, and even impress the hard to impress.
Service was impeccable, the food was a five star meal and valet is awesome.
Always amazing food, service, and ambiance! The gratis consommé and popovers are a wonderful way to start the meal!
The food was very good - healthy and light, but still delicious. The services were very attentive and the ambience very elegant
Had a wonderful time and the food and service was awesome
Holiday buffet is a tradition after we see Christmas displays.
Took my (college-student) daughter for a pre-matinee lunch and just happened to book one of the days they were having their famous holiday buffet. Pricey, but definitely worth the splurge for a special occasion. Food was fabulous, excellent variety and high quality. Service was its usual high standard—efficient, calm, friendly, and helpful. Ordered one of the holiday special drinks and it was lovely. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a celebration!
We had a party of five for the Holiday Buffet, and were looking forward to a feast, but to my disappointment I feel we were shortchanged. First of all, it is very cheap for Neiman-Marcus to charge extra for coffee and tea in light of the fact that the buffet price, $43, is substantial. I fully understand charging for liquor, of course, but not for coffee, tea, or soft drinks. I have attended many buffets at quality establishments throughout the country and never encountered such a shortsighted rude policy when the base price is more than ample.
Also, the dessert at the end of the meal was almost non-existent. We were given no choices. Instead of a dessert selection, we were brought slices of 2 kinds of cake, a devil's food and a red velvet, and a piece of rather tough and very bland bread pudding. I was looking forward to some selection of pies, cheesecake, cookies, squares, tortes, ice cream, sherbert, or anything but the dry cake we were served. While I and my companions love dessert, we don't even like cake and the bread pudding was a rather dry lump and not served in individual dishes or with vanilla sauce or any kind of moisture or liquid. Again, I have never attended a reputable buffet with such a lack of desserts and I find such treatment inexplicable.
The buffet itself had a wide variety of salads, which was nice, but the entrees were unexceptional.
This is the first time I have ever written a critical restaurant review but our experience was substandard in several ways and certainly did not live up to our justifiable expectations.
