Food was great, service was good as soon as we were seated but the setup was a little awkward. You walk into the restaurant through the bar, the hostess table is midway back and was unmanned when we arrived.
We stood there for about 10 minutes before we gave up and asked the bartender to track someone down. If we hadn't had a reservation we would have assumed that the place wasn't open for dinner.
Great service and gluten free options were plentiful
Delicious, creative food. We stayed at the Westin for an event in San Antonio and this was the perfect dinner. We went back again for dessert!
I always love coming to Zocca to celebrate special days and just to come and enjoy the always amazing and delicious food. There are favorite classic Italian dishes as well as more flavor filled creative dishes that you won't want to share with anyone else. The desserts are to die for! Every time I come in, there is always something new and delicious to enjoy and the staff always make you feel warm and welcome.
Food and service was just average. Okay, but for the price, we found far better Italian fare in the San Antonio downtown/Riverwalk area.
GREAT gluten free options!!
Loved our waiter very nice meh was a little older man Latino very very helpful will go back because of him
Food is fine and service is friendly.
I was disappointed. Several of the reviews had mentioned how good the food was; however, the quality of the food did not match up to the reviews. The service was very good and the wait staff and hotel staff were very nice. Although the food wasn't bad, it was bland. I would expect this quality of food from Olive Garden or Carrabbas, but not from a place like Zocca. Most likely will not eat here again because there are too many great restaurants in the area. Why go somewhere that is "okay" when you can go somewhere that is fantastic.
The food was pretty good (pappardelle pasta), but the antipasto appetizer was delicious. I was most disappointed with the service. We had a reservation for two at 630pm on a Saturday. I was surprised to see that the restaurant wasn't very busy, and also that many staff members appeared to be milling about without any real purpose. We were next in line to be seated and I thought this would be done immediately. Instead, we stood right next to the manager while he talked on the phone while another staff member stood looking at him who finally left without seating us. Finally, we were seated and given water and menus. We then had to wait again for several minutes for someone to take our order. We flagged down the manager who happened to wander by and finally ended up with a great waiter.
I won't be back
Due to construction, which was not disclosed on the OpenTable information for this site, outdoor dining, (the reason we chose this restaurant), was not available.
Nice atmosphere and location in the Westin Riverfront hotel. Tried 2 pizzas and 2 pastas, all were extremely mediocre. Probably good for breakfast, would avoid lunch or dinner.
Great gluten-free options
There was a child’s birthday party nearby and they were noisy.
We choose this restaurant for breakfast and we were a little disappointed. I had the crab cake eggs Benedict and they were fine. My husband had the “frittata” and it was not. Instead of being the traditional crustless quiche it was a scoop of scrambled eggs in a small dish with the ingredients piled on top. We suspected the eggs came from their buffet as they were not warm and left a large puddle of water in the bottom of the dish. Pretty disappointing for $16. The host and restaurant manager were friendly but our waiter was not. There are better options at this price point.
Ordered beet bruschetta, brick chicken and pasta with shrimp. All were excellent. Used grapes rather than tomatoes for the bruschetta which was okay but I prefer tomatoes. Creme brûlée was amazing. Would definitely go back.
The gluten-free menu is one of the most extensive I've seen. The food (both gluten-free and regular) was delicious. The entrance is off the Riverwalk. (Market Street is the address of the building.) It was fun watching the boats on the Riverwalk.
Inattentive server and extremely slow kitchen, there are too many options in the area... Don't waste your time here
Amazing food and definitely going again before we leave town!
Overall pleased with experience my food was rest but my friends food was salty particularly the salmon. Tiramisu and the cheesecake was out of this world good. The table was also dirty...the person setting up the tables didn’t do a great job or wiping it down. But other than that I really enjoyed it. I don’t think you’d be disappointed coming here. I’d definitely go again.
The food was so delicious! Our waiter was so kind and I really appreciated how fast everything was. I would definitely recommend this to anyone, and I'll be coming back!
After finding ZOCCA a year ago, we’ve made it THE place to celebrate all special occasions. The location & service is perfect to make our family or business dinners a real gift.
The service is stellar! The food is delicious, unique and unlike any restaurant we found since relicating from So. Cal.
Andy, our server makes it all so memorable, this is the only place we bring our most loved relatives, partners & friends.
Food was very bland. Tasted premade/store bought. Nice restaurant but food was very lack lustre. This was not good Italian food whatsoever.
Orlando was wonderful! Thanks for a great celebration dinner!
We went for lunch during restaurant week and the food was fabulous and portions very generous.
Gluten free bread was a little burned but the pasta was delicious. The baked chicken was crispy skinned , sauce on side was not good, bread was doughy. The server was very polite and friendly. I would return for another meal. Portions were large.
Visited during Restaurant Week. Prix Fixe at only $15, 3 course and easy to much to finish. Say st the bar with Yvette who is charming and attentive. Will probably sit outside next visit.
Jason our server was very attentive until it became busy. We sat outside with a view of the San Antonio Riverwalk. Towards the end of our meal, we didn't see our waiter for while. We had the beet salad which was nice with fresh berries that were not suppose to be sour. I had the chicken entrée which was very nice. I enjoyed it. My wife had the margarita pizza with a modified sauce as we didn't care for garlic. The pizza crust was on the thicker side for an Italian restaurant but it was okay. They were touting the tiramisu, so we ordered it to go. It was a little disappointing as there were fresh berries with it a and they were quite sour. There was little tiramisu and more attention to the chocolate. There were paper thin slices of chocolate on the top and bottom and chocolate curls of milk and white chocolate sprinkled around the cake. It looked fancy but for 10 dollars, we wouldn't get it again. The atmosphere was nice and quite outside. Inside there were more groups and it was noticeably louder. Service, atmosphere, beet salad and chicken entrée were good. The pizza crust being thick made the pizza so-so and tiramisu did not live up to expectations.
Jason was such a great server. Knowledgeable about the plates and great with timing and attentiveness.
The food was great!
(We ordered the jumbo crab cakes, tagliatelle, and smoked chicken ravioli.)
Will definitely return :)
Great service and nice location on the riverfront. Quiet and away from the larger crowds.
I’m from dallas but I come here every time I travel to San Antonio. I’m gluten free, so there’s a limited amount of places I can eat at without getting sick. They have so many gluten free options here (pizza, pasta, dessert, even the appetizer bread, etc) and they’re actually tasty too. It’s also just a really nice restaurant in general. I would definitely recommend.
We were looking for a quiet place on the River Walk for dinner and this fit the bill!
The food and service was absolutely amazing! I would definitely recommend the restaurant to anyone that’s looking for authentic Italian food. I will definitely be returning!
We had a great time bartender were great service was great thanks for everything.
camr here for lunch alone after a spa treatment (its at the Westin on the riverwalk). order the (lunch priton) of the paparradelle with lump crab. it was fantastic. good wine choices. oredered a moscato and a pino grigio. chatted quite a bit with my waitress (jessica L). she was great brought me an amazing dessert compliments of the chef because she said she had a grat time talking to me. She also "couln't find" the button for the moscato so she comped that. liked it so much brought my husband and his collegue for dinner. dinner wasnt quite as good food wise but our waiter (Raul) was very good brought us a special dessert that wasnt yet on the menu. Coffe cheesecake on a chocolate cookie crumb crust, covered in dolce de leche. Order that!
Celebrating my wife’s birthday, restaurant were great and surprised with an amazing celebratory desert!
Over 5 nights dining out in San Antonio this was the best food we had
Should you decide to eat here for breakfast I would recommend the buffet to avoid the service problems and to get a better value for your dollar if you eat enough. The food was average, overpriced, and the service was poor (disorganized, forgot the bacon in the omelet, forgot the berries for my dates pancakes).
Mother’s Day massacre. Confusion over reservation and timing of brunch. Disorganized - not prepared for our Open Table reservation for six. Breakfast was slightly better than at a Holiday Inn. Brunch items had no Mother’s Day special features - and food was bland. At $45 a person - no tablecloth, no ambiance, fluorescent style bright lighting. All in all a real disappointment.
Our waiter was excellent, and we had a nice outdoor table. The view is the less traveled part of the river, so not all that wonderful. The food was great, as was the wine. I asked for the spaghetti and meatballs without meatballs and with vegetables instead, and it was delicious.
Everyone seemed to enjoy the meal.
