Nice atmosphere quite for be in the river walk in San Antonio
This was my third meal at Zocca, but the first time in about 6 or more months. I had chosen it because in my previous experiences the food had been really wonderful and the service was excellent. Tonight the service was still excellent but the food was very disappointing. Each rib of the rack of lamb was very fatty and had been, simply, just cooked ... no sautéing or glazing to give it more taste and eye appeal. The polenta lasagna “just didn’t make it” according to my guest who ordered it. She ate a small amount and did not wish to take rest home. I had gone there expecting the previously wonderful calamari with a delicious sauce (which had been on the website menu this afternoon) but it had been replaced by a dish that included calamari and shrimp, peppers and several other food entities and did not sound appetizing .. just “different” and struggling to make a culinary statement. Although it was not the fault of the restaurant, the final disappointment was that the table of 6 next to us was so incredibly loud that my guest and I could not hear each other’s conversation. I won’t go back.
Good food menu, reasonable prices, portions huge (prefer smaller), delicious! Really good cocktails but only 3 on happy hour menu. Excellent wait staff. Seating inside with good view of the River Walk and shaded outdoor tables when weather permits. Would recommend.
I was there during lunch and it was very peaceful. The dish I got was delicious!!!
Visited this restaurant six years ago and it was wonderful. We had brunch with a group of 16 and staff was great!
Came back for moms 77th birthday with family weekend. Although I called the restaurant several times prior, I could not get through, so I asked the concierge from Hotel Contessa to get a message to them to see if they could make my moms celebration special. When we arrived I mentioned this to the waitress and she seemed to know, but also seemed put out by me following up with her. The food was awful and for what we paid, I felt we should’ve gone somewhere else. I was very disappointed in service and quality of food. This restaurant may have had a recent renovation, it lacks in all areas. Not recommending.
Friends lunch for restaurant week. We all loved every course at our table by the window overlooking the Riverwalk. Great service but ... there was no one else there most of the time. Don’t know how they’d be when more crowded.
We enjoyed our dinner at Zocca. The food was good, and the menu included some interesting and unique items beyond the standard dishes you commonly find at Italian restaurants.
Excellent service, delicious food, and the convenience of it being located in the hotel was nice.
Great yogurt parfait. I’m not even a fan of yogurt parfaits. I also had the salmon. Delish. Our server was great too. All in all a great experience. Good ambiance, food and service. What more can you ask for.
Great gluten free restaurant.
Awesome food - Zocca has the best gluten free menu I've seen in an Italian restaurant, bar none. Food, from both the regular menu and the gluten free, was amazing. Sat outside so noise was minimal, don't know about inside.
The food and wine was good and it was relaxing
The Bolognese pasta was not very tasty with very few specks of meat, not seasoned, blah.
The raspberry dessert was pitiful. I took one bite and left the remaining.
I book a table for wedding anniversary dinner and ask 3 times during the day to have table ready. Did not happen even if the resto was not busy. Food was dry and obviously pasta have been standing under heater too long, service was poor and unprofessional and never got chance to order vine etc... totally overrated, staff incompetent and most probably not well managed. Only location make sense on the riverwalk.
Our waiter greeted us in a way that made us feel like the most important guests of the night. He kept our glasses full and the bread basket warm. The food was incredibly savory. We were sat next to the window so we can see the river walk, it was very calming and enjoyable. This was a very important night for my wife and I. Last weekend alone without children before a deployment to Afghanistan. We will definitely come back for dinner when I return home.
Excellent service and quality tastes! Welcoming from start to finish, and knowledgeable regarding our food allergies. We’ve already been back.
Lunch outside by the Riverwalk was wonderful. We took our young grandchildren out for lunch. The waitress was very good with them. She made it easy for us. Excellent food.
It was nice and relaxed compared to the other side of the riverwalk. Food was amazing. Never heard of Italian ceviche and it was amazing! Recommend!
Excellent service, great atmosphere, wonderful wine, however, the food was very bland. I was disappointed in the entree. The ambiance and 5-star service made up for the less than average entree though. It was an overall great night. I’d return for Happy Hour but not for dinner.
Food was delicious and the servers had high energy and were very friendly!
The food is amazing, unlike anything I've ever eaten! Our waiter Orlando went above and beyond to make our anniversary special. The atmosphere is a bit more relaxed than I expected, which was nice.
Poor service. One of the appetizers was forgotten completely, water was refilled only once, drinks left empty for a long time (could have ordered two more rounds had the server paid attention).
Food was average at best. Seafood pasta was swimming in oil and the pea risotto was very over cooked.
Our experience was outstanding. The wait staff were very kind and friendly. It was fantastic sitting inside but being able to look out on the river walk. I would definitely recommend Zocca’s restaurant to anyone.
Our waiter Jason made our Anniversary so special! He was so helpful with food choices and was so knowledgeable about the menu! Highly recommend!!!! Amazing food & service!!!!
Reminded me of a school cafeteria or pizza parlor.
Great food and ambiance right on the riverwalk. The wait is little long after the order even though it is not busy
We had a group of eight, but the wait staff took care of us with no problem. Food was very tasty and flavorful.
Great views and food was really good too. Calamari was delicious! Our reservation was for 7:15 which enable us to see the sunset and the city at night!
A beautiful, quiet area of the river walk - ambience outstanding! However, all items were overpriced and the food - we had salads and pizza - was good but not something to rave about.
Meals were served quick and fresh. The staff is very friendly and makes you feel like you are dining in more of a family establishment. Zocca would certainly be recommended for a nice sit down dinner in San Antonio.
We were celebrating our daughter’s national dance championship. Had a wonderful meal with wonderful service. We didn’t realize the restaurant was in a hotel, but that’s ok. The food was amazing and we will probably stay at the hotel the next time we visit, as they had a full gluten free menu selection, breakfast, lunch & dinner for my oldest daughter.
Our server, Jason, was excellent. Awesome personality and we never had empty glasses. We really enjoyed our experience & he made it awesome by bringing out a special dessert plate for our daughter.
A little hard to get to, with no signage outside on street from the Westin, but once inside charming locale. Outdoor seating suffers from lots of flies and no deterrents, and the pasta was decent, but nothing excellent. Overall good service and good experience.
We had a fantastic meal at Zocca on Sunday, June 16th. Every person in our party of 9 was happy with the entire experience. Alyssa, our waitress, was friendly, efficient and knowledgeable and went above and beyond to make our business meal memorable.
Excellent food and staff desert was decadent sat inside because of the heat but able to watch the boats go by highly recommendable
My husband got a pizza, which was excellent (the crust was what I would consider slightly unique, with a very good taste), and I got a pasta dish with crab. It was good. Fresh and I say again... "good". Just nothing to write home about. But I'm something of a foodie, so a bit hard to please. I enjoyed the location, as it was quieter, being a bit out of the hubbub of the most crowded Riverwalk area, but still easily walkable and still a very pretty area/view.
We had the Spaghetti and meatballs and Fettuccine. Food was was excellent and the service was wonderful as well. The head chef Jessica visited our table and was very pleasant. The ambience is very relaxing with a beautiful view of the riverwalk.
1. We ordered the 2 pizzas. One came cold.
2. I ordered a glass of wine, and it came in a small wine glass. It was definitely the type of wine that should’ve been in a large wine glass to open up, so clearly no one at the bar knows about wine and wine glasses. So I changed to a Paloma....
3. My Paloma has a peanut- like aftertaste, which does t make sense. It’s a tequila drink with grapefruit.
However I’ll say we had a very nice waiter and the chocolate cake was great. Also the Seasonal Veggie pizza was outstanding. The naked Pizza is not so great, even after it was warmed up.
I don’t know if there was a bad bartender or a chef asleep at the stove, but the place shows potential. However maybe as a hotel restaurant it’s apathetic and losing its poise? Either way I don’t recommend it and I am probably not going back.
Almost walked out, took so long to get our food
Was our first time at Zocca. My husband and I really enjoyed it and will definitely be back. Jason, our server was outstanding!
