Zizzi - Reading
We got to the venue, they didn’t have our booking on the system for 8pm we had to hang around nearly an hour before getting a table when we got sat down and ordered our food, there were a group sat behind us that left and didn’t pay as they were waiting so long for there food, we ended up eating at 10:30pm the lady serving us was great we could see the whole place was in a bit of a mess but the lady serving us really did make it a better, the food was good but as I said had to wait a really good, shame they overbooked and couldn’t handle what bookings they had. If it wasn’t for the lady we would’ve left.
In all fairness it was just ‘ok’. Even though the restaurant wasn’t very busy my finished plate and my daughters plate were cleared away even though my husband and son were still eating and dessert menus forced on us when they were still eating their main meal.....I’ve no idea what the rush was all about! The pizza was good but the pasta was unfortunately mediocre which is a shame because we have eaten here loads of times and the first time I’ve felt disappointed.
I love this branch of Zizzi for the kids especially
Good food slightly expensive
Booked on line & rang them to confirm but on arrival... no booking!? Staff friendly, quiet evening so got us a table straight away (& half hour earlier) Coeliac & Vegan options, lovely wine and staff. Very noisy as there were large groups. Overall a great evening
As i entered, my eyes were squinting due to the extremely bright light and it was very noisy. The waiter made up for it. He was very helpful. Luckily there was an Italian cookbook by the side that provided as a quiz book for us. The food was good so it seems like we had entered the restaurant at a wrong time.
Booked table and when arrived at zizzi booking had not been confirmed and the place was full so we weren't able to have dinner. Had dinner there before and place is really good but was disappointed that booking wasn't confirmed and I wasn't informed as wasted my time
Good quality pizza, good service but uncomfortably loud.
Although they didn't appear to have my booking for four , they found us a table and served really lovely food - I had butterfly prawns and duck ragu , which was delicious .
Service was dreadful, even though staff we're chatting to each other. Food was good but took a while to find its way to us.
We have eaten lunch and dinners on this restaurant many times for the last 4 years but last Sunday the service was not good enough, slow and very unprofessional.
We were able to see 2/3 waiters chatting on the tils and only one person servicing the tables, by the time we were in only one person was in the kitchen doing all.
I am not sure if this place has change management but unfortunately we won't be choosing this restaurant for a while or maybe we won't come back.
A great place to go and have a relaxed meal with friends, or just for a couple having a quiet meal together. The food is delicious and well presented and our waitress was delightful.
Now we have sampled Zizzi's offerings we will definitely be returning.
The pizza bases are the best I have tasted; thin and light. We had a sharing platter to start which was sublime and the gelato to finish, perfect.
Will be eating at Zizzi's again !
Good value meal in quiet location away from town centre.
Food was good service was good only problem was daughter was limited as she could not have dairy, some vegetarian have milk ingredients. Service was good
When we have been to Zizzi's - Reading before it has been a very good experience overall. However, this time it was only the food that saved it. The service was appalling, we were left reading the menu for ages and I could have cooked my own pizza in the time it took to have our orders taken. It was clear the maitre'd wasn't bothered about the ambience there as he flitted about ignoring everyone. There was a large party behind our table with at least five children running riot, constantly banging into the tables of other diners, and once causing a waitress to trip over. BUT NO ONE SAID ANYTHING. You could see from the faces of other diners that it was ruining their meals. If we had been there for a special occasion it would have been ruined. As it was, our pizzas were fresh and tasty (although the wait between courses was excruciatingly long) and we had a money off voucher so it wasn't worth raising a complaint whilst there. I will return, but probably not on a Friday night again.
Had a simple, good value meal here, on a quiet Sunday night.
Zizzi in Reading. Large Italian chain of restaurants which always seem to,be busy and very noisy. Tasty food despite this and fairly reliable. They often seem to be short staffed so service can be slow. Always nice surroundings and make for a pleasant meal.
Shame we arrived to find that there was no reservation for us. We were able to show the staff our email confirmation on the phone so a table was found. Not a good start for our party of six, but after that everything was great.
Had a simple good value meal here, on a quiet Sunday night between Christmass & New Year.
I have been here twice now and both times had to wait 15 minutes before I was offered a drink despite the place being nearly empty and with 4 staff working. Then later I had to work very hard to get the attention, is it too much to ask that they occasionally look across.
Having said that, staff were very friendly and nice when they did engage.
Restaurant has no buzz at all - some background music would help at quieter times.
Food is fine but for what it is and the location it is relatively expensive.
Wine was good.
Food was fantastic as usual. Service ok but looked like they don't care. Problem was with our booking. I booked online on thursday I got confirmation and reminder on friday and they didn't have our booking written down. I had to go to my emails and proof to a supervisor or manager on duty that I am not lier and I actually booked in advance. She didn't looked really happy. Anyway we had to wait 25 minutes for our wine to arrive but as I said food was fantastic and we enjoyed our evening. I forgot to say. It was really really busy but I will be back. Your Lamb is just amazing
On a Monday night where the restaurant was fairly empty the service was average. Food took longer to come out than expected for that kind of night.
Our wedding anniversary fell on a Saturday close to Christmas so it was hard to find anywhere fancy that had a table, so we opted for Zizzi in Reading and ended up having a lovely evening. Had a drink beforehand in the Outlook pub next door which has some very cosy and atmospheric nooks. Zizzi was pretty full due to group bookings but not too loud and the staff, whilst a bit overstretched, were very attentive. As for the food, the menu is just a bit more individual than other Italian chains and it was all delicious. The result in terms of choice and quality is the same as a "posh" restaurant but about 40% cheaper. Highly recommended.
Food was ok, good value but service was very slow and the flickering lights due to the bulbs about to go gave us a headache.
Relaxed placed with good value food.
As always Zizzi's delivers value for money it's just a shame about the service here. We had to wait an extra long time for our drinks/food and even after prompting. The food was delicious and we paid £13 for two courses and drinks which I seem exceptional value. If the service improved then five stars.
When we arrived they had no record of my booking. Unfortunately (as it turned out) they had a spare table in front of a waiter station, with a constant flow of staff squeezing past the table or talking to each other over our heads. My Rigatoni Melanzane arrived with some sauce in the middle surrounded by dry cripsy pieces of pasta. I sent it back but was told that it was supposed to be like that because it was baked in the oven. I replaced it with Bauletti di Ricotta e Limone which came with about 3 small pieces of spinach and swimming in a bowl of yellow liquid. I tried a couple of pieces and left the rest - it was really unpleasant. When a waiter asked how it was and I told him he just rolled his eyes and walked away.
Good but not great food which missed a certain zing. Service was standard but they overcharged the bill by adding incorrect items.
Zizzi Reading. Good value with great atmosphere & food.
We had a friendly waitor. We had to wait a little while to order drinks at the start but the food made up for it - there was so much and it was so tasty.
We all enjoyed our meals and there was a nice selection to chose on the £16.95 menu - we would go back.
great food and service
Zizzi - Reading. Nice place away from the busy town centre.
Zizzi - Reading
Good food & service, but poor ambience on a Satuday night with music so loud you cold not here other people at the table speak.
Zizzi - Reading
Good value & quality, with pleasant service.
Great central Reading restaurant. Lovely for a quick lunch. New large thin base pizza is fantastic! Swifter service than last time.
Food & price great, but service poor - only 1 waitress at 6pm on a Sunday which, for a pizza place meant long waits.
Zizzi Reading - good food and great central venue - ideal for a quick bite
Zizzi were very badly understaffed this night... there was one waitress serving at least 20 tables. Luckily we weren't in a rush - but two other couples left before their food arrived. HOWEVER - the food was lovely and we all really enjoyed it. I had a gorgeous Goats cheese salad and my other half really enjoyed his pasta dish. Our waitress was very stressed out, but was doing a stirling job considering. We'd def go back, but would hope the service to be better next time.
Very friendly waiters, good food and atmosphere. Service bit slow but they said sorry and we liked chatting and drinking so no worries.
