Great service.

Ordered the mussels, carbonara, and bolognase. Mussels were great. Carbonara was quite salty. Bolognase was good.

We had an excellent time at Zio Cecio. The food was delicious, especially the Neri Alle Vongole (Squid ink infused spaghetti with fresh clams), which my husband ordered. I had the gnocchi, which was also very good, but luckily my husband was willing to share with me. The service was wonderful and we were not rushed, but able to spend time enjoying a lovely evening with our friends.

Zio is our favorite neighborhood restaurant--always great authentic Italian food, very efficient and friendly service, casual ambiance, and excellent wine list with some excellent Italian wines at very reasonable prices.

We first tried Zio Cecio now several years ago when it opened, and were impressed. We began to go back, at least initially because of the restaurant's great mid-week promotions. But gradually we began to go back because Zio Cecio was consistently a very good experience. This latest visit was no exception. We were there for a special occasion, and all three meals were quite good. Well and promptly prepared. We also had a great Sardinian wine Rocca Rubia, largely thanks to our server Jeff. And our server Jeff was simply beyond excellent. Attentive to our table's needs, intelligent in his suggestions, and just remarkably congenial and professional.

Noise level was beyond loud. We had to scream at each other in order to have a conversation. The glasses of wine were brought out filled with cork bits floating in them. We got new glasses brought out and they had much less cork in them but still a few bits. As far as the food, the best thing was the complimentary bread. The calamari (fritti di paranza) was like eating deep-fried squid. The breading was much too thick, and the squid itself was more chewy than normal (not the best quality, maybe why it was drenched in breading to cover up for that). The squid ink pasta (neri all vongole) was the most bland I've ever had in my life though the mussels tasted good (they didn't have clams that day, which normally is what accompanies squid ink pasta). The quadratini all mentuccia was bland and unremarkable. Finally, the crème brulee was not very good. We won't be returning.

The restaurant was empty which is fine it was a weeknight but created a really lousy atmosphere for us. They were smart and set us in the outdoor enclosed patio. There was one other table with guests in the entire restaurant. The food was very expensive. We had focaccia that was as good as anywhere and carpaccio that was so thin we could barely get it off the plate without it shredding. The lasagna was ok, very salty. The drinks were good and the wine was good and the server was very nice. This restaurant is located in a great spot. There is no reason for it to be empty except for the fact that it is overpriced and has zero ambiance.

Service was excellent and food was good but nothing outstanding. What will keep me from recommending and probably going back is valet service. You're pretty much forced to use valet or park on Lovers Lane across the street. In the short (probably 50 foot) drive to park my car the attendant turned the air conditioning down to freezing and took it off automatic. He also moved the drivers seat and significantly adjusted the rear view mirrors. Wish I had checked these things before I tipped him. Guess I should be glad he didn't have to drive further.

We always enjoy the food here, it is better Italian than anywhere in Dallas. We especially enjoy sitting on the patio when possible, it is much quieter.

Zio Cecio's salt-crusted branzino and snapper are hands down the best fish dishes in Dallas. The attention to detail is exquisite. The octopus starter and pastas are also excellent and the focaccia is perfect -- bread that is truly worth the calories. The wait staff are always friendly and professional. Restaurants are held to high standards in Italy and Zio Cecio brings that level of quality ingredients and execution to America.

One of our favorite places. Great Italian food and done well. Portion sizes are just right. Service is great with the owner on hand to make sure everything runs well. We live in the north suburbs and stop here for dinners before going to shows in downtown Dallas.

Admittedly I am a tough reviewer, but after being directed here by two different friends, I had relatively high expectations. Unfortunately the restaurant simply failed to deliver. We went on a Friday night around 8pm and I was surprised to see that it was not very crowded. Despite the light crowd and the intermittently friendly waiter, the service was both slow and poor. We had to ask the maitre'd for water and then again for bread before finally asking him to check on our order as it was taking an inexplicably long time. The caprese salad was good, but the calamari was bland. The accompanying marinara sauce was lukewarm, thin, and tasteless.

Fortunately both the salmon and the snapper special were pretty good. I got a side of spaghetti with garlic and olive oil which should have been an easy layup for the kitchen. Unfortunately it was also disappointing.

I hate to make this review so negative, but the experience was just not good. Hopefully I just caught them on an off night. If not, there are many better Italian restaurants in Dallas.

First time at Zio Cecio and it was a good experience, we will be back. The wait staff was attentive and maybe a little inexperienced but functional. We split a caprese salad, which was a great starter. She had salmon and enjoyed it I had a tomahawk ribeye from the specials of the day. I took half of it home. It was very flavorful, it came paired w mashed potatoes.
Overall the food was excellent to outstanding, service was very good, we will visit again.
