My girlfriend and I had a great date night here. She is a vegetarian and gluten-free, so we thankful that the restaurant and several items that she could eat. Great wine too!
The salted fish was wonderful - Francesco has a great team of chefs and servers - we loved our time here.
Excellent food and service. Francesca has done an excellent job with traditional Sardinian food! I will definitely return.
Good dinner. We were very comfortable with the environment
Amazing restaurant. I’ve known Francesca for over 30 yrs.
Delicious food, service, and atmosphere. I highly recommend this local restaurant.
The food is phenomenal and Francesco is a great host!
Great service, great food and nice place! Nothing to complain about
Nice, small restaurant - Sicilian style Italian. Nice people, good food, good service. Salads were delicious but rather expensive, given the size. Boar sauce pasta and branzino in salt crust were outstanding. Good wines as well.
As always, Francesco and his team provided a superlative dining experience...personalized our meal choices...and our drink choices...Scott Brown
The food was delicious and the owner was very attentive. We had a wonderful time!
If you aren’t dining at Zio Cecio, you should be. This is an undiscovered gem. The food is fantastic and not your typical Italian fare. Not only do they offer your standard Italian pastas and pizzas, but delicious seafood, lamb chops, chicken, pork chops, steak, etc. Once you have been there, they remember you. They remember what cocktails and wine you like and where you like to sit. The only negative thing I can say a out it is that it is closed on Mondays. Believe me, you won’t dine there just once.
We had a great table on the enclosed terrace to enjoy a sumptuous dinner, complete with a wine selected by the owner that was perfect. BTW, try the Lemocello cake if you dare...
Consistently the highest quality food in Dallas! The chef/owner, Francesco Farris, is a native of Sardinia. He is extremely fussy about the freshness and quality of ingredients and is ever-present to assure that his standards are met. The fish cooked in a sea salt crust is perfect — moist, flavorful, filleted at the table and plated with beautiful grilled vegetables. Pastas, pizza, osso buco and special Sardinian dishes are also excellent. I love the starter with tender octopus in a spicy tomato-based stew. Sardinian reds are the stars of the wine list which is very good overall and reasonably priced.
Always first class!
Excellent restaurant, delicious food, outstanding wine and incredible service. A must go restaurant in Dallas.
Outstanding food! Best place in town for whole fish. Always excellent and attentive service.
We and another couple are on a quest to find the best Italian restaurant in Dallas! This is our second place to try. It’s way more beautiful inside than from the outside. We sat on the front patio and enjoyed a summer evening. The server brought us several dishes to share, so we could taste their specialties. The boar ragu was outstanding, served on tear-shaped pasta that is from the Sardinia region. They are famous for their lasagna, which was bubbling hot and cheesy. Highly recommend! The carpaccio and seafood pasta was also quite good. Their wine selection was terrific as well. The server helped us choose our wine, and I would have it again. My favorite part of the meal? The focaccia. Their focaccia is the best I’ve ever had – crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Lots of flavor. They serve premium olive oil and balsamic vinegar for dipping. We met the owner, and he was so welcoming! This experience will be hard to top.
Excellent service and food, as always.
An evening at "Zio Cecio" is always delightful. The preparation & oversight of rotating Three Course Special by Francesco is one of my favorites. Having lived for over three years in Italy & having visited extensively most regions, I'm honored to state that this is certainly one of the finest Italian ristoranti in Dallas.
Love the authenticity of the Sardinian influenced food.
This friendly and casual neighborhood Italian spot has good reviews, but our experience was marred by a confused and inattentive server. First, she had trouble explaining the wine list. The "by the glass" list gives very vague descriptions, so we asked for more information and her guidance was more red vs. white wine, with no help provided. We then ordered one wine and one cocktail, but that took 10 minutes. She was chatting with the bartender about something. During this time when going out to eat is more rare--we would have appreciated more attention. Perhaps, if she did not understand wine--she could have sent over a manager. But he was also deep in conversation with another table. We made it through the appetizer course, which was good, before giving up on our server. I do like the crispy focaccia (pizza-like) and casual patio area too, but there was a lack of professionalism with the servers that made this a questionable review. The food may be good, but our server was not.
Absolutely wonderful food and service!!!
Always a pleasure to chat with charming Chef Francesco
Pasta was amazing!
Excellent service, following Covid guidelines, food to perfection!
Love the pasta dishes. Great deserts. Francesco (the owner/exec chef) is usually around and is very welcoming.
Best Italian food in Dallas. The patio is great with a retractile roof and large windows so you're comfortable in a rain storm, hot day, or perfect 80 degrees like we had in the middle of June.
We went to have dinner with my parents and the staff was impeccable, from directing parking to the menu knowledge. The food was very good and as was the presentation. I would suggest this place as a nice place to sit down and enjoy a conversation.
We love this restaurant! The food is always exceptional. It’s the perfect choice for entertaining when you want it to be a special experience. Additionally, Francesco is fabulous at recommending items from the menu if you enjoy that extra touch, as well as, some nice conversation.
Having been there several times we have never been disappointed. The food is always exceptional. This outing was bracketed by mussels (best I have ever had) and a lemon cake that was as light as a feather.
Menu was abbreviate owing to the virus - looking forward to their "main" menu.
As close to dining in an Italian cafe as we may get for a while...authentic fresh food and great wine...personal service from the owner was an unexpected treat.
The focaccia was the best I've ever had! Great menu with excellent options for appetizers, salads, pastas, pizzas, mains and desserts. Excellent wine list as well. Rustic-chic with great ambiance. Will definitely be back!
Best kept secret in Dallas.
Relaxing atmosphere and a local feel combined with fantastic food. All the dishes taste so fresh because it’s all made to order. We especially love the fish in salt baked in their wood burning oven!!!
My wife and I made reservations through Open Table and visited Zoo Cecio for the first time. We had a lovely bottle of wine along with clams and mussels. The sauce is super light and not overly buttery. My entree was the pasta with wild boar and ragu sauce. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS DISH. My wife had the carbanarra and was not impressed. We actually sent it back. We will definitely return. The location is great and the service is impeccable.
Excellent selection and wine pairing with Chef Francesco!
This was my 4th visit to Zio Cecio and for my 33rd birthday. The Italian Manhatten was perfect as always and the food was amazing as well. They have never let us down. The staff was great and the owner made me and my family feel like family. Zio Cecio is very cozy and intimate yet lively and fun. I can’t wait to go back!
Menu was different than what was online - we would not have come to the restaurant if we had known that (two of the people wanted a specific dish and it was their birthdays)
We asked for a specific table, but were told that it was reserved - it remained empty the entire two hours we were there
A whole table of noisy children were seated directly next to us
Food and service were good
The service was terrible and the food was ok at best. It told 40 min before they even took our order. Not a good experience. Won’t go back
Great food and service! Wonderful restaurant!
Great as always
