Zinqué - West Hollywood
This place is just very average. The “Host” was pretty clueless and seemed very uninspired to be there or be remotely accommodating.
Overpriced average food with a unwelcome vibe. kinda typical for a lot of places in LA, sadly.
The grilled salmon was excellent but the half chicken was dry and rather scrawny. They ran out of dessert so we couldn’t order any. This was on Thanksgiving.
When we arrived for our reservation, we were greeted with a not so welcoming “there are no tables outside at the moment…” with an offering of waiting inside at the bar. When asked how long, the response was she didn’t know (the hostess then turned around to see an available high top that she apparently didn’t notice previously).
I had my vaccination card ready to show, but they apparently weren’t checking…
Ordered the steak frites, there were no frites - apparently the kitchen fryer wasn’t working and they weren’t sure when the manager was planning to fix it. One of the available sides was substituted. What came to the table was by definition steak, but not any steak frites I’ve seen before - roughly 4oz or less thinly sliced steak next to a small portion of potato au gratin. It was insulting. I did complain, firmly but politely - poorly executed steak dishes seem to push my buttons. We were offered a dessert, which we took, though the offer should have been to remove it from the bill.
If you’re going to enforce a strict 10 minute window policy on arriving to a reservation on time, there should be a table ready and waiting when people do arrive on time and ready to sit. If you’re going to continue to use digital menus, maybe take a moment to remove items that aren’t actually available from the menu if you have no way of making them. If you raise your prices for a menu that hasn’t changed in a few years, understand that the reasonable expectation is a consistently great product. And know when to take a sub par item off the bill - gestures like that get people to come back. I came to enjoy an evening with a friend from out of town, and this mediocre experience definitely pulled focus.
Farm-to-table-fresh ingredients combined into creative (yet straightforward) dishes, with a definite Southern California Mexican flavor tendency. Portions vary, but quality doesn't, so although "Le Bowl" seems to be the most filling option, you can't go wrong by choosing an assortment of others instead (I recommend a flatbread or tartine paired with the burrata/prosciutto plate.) Service was also friendly and just the right amount of attentive. Great bang for your buck, and although it's smack-dab on Melrose, the setting still manages to feel private enough.
Lots of menu changes because of supply shortage. Long wait time for server and food. Dinners came out 20 min apart and were wrong. Rough night.
We were 30 minutes early to a reservation but the host made it possible for us to be seated early. Along with this, the waitress was very friendly and informative and therefore service was top notch.
My guests and I always have a Wonderful Time at Zinque. Plus it doesn't hurt when you know someone at this Amazing Dining Spot. ;-)
Ask for Eddie when dining at the WeHo location. She knows her stuff!
The branzino is exquisite. The carpaccio is also quite delicious as is the steak! Very good food.
This place is so cute from the outside. We had a reservation, but arrived a bit early so we were sat inside. It was a hot night in LA, and they only had the door open and not the windows so it felt super muggy and hot inside. That was the only downfall. The menu doesn’t have a ton of options, but a decent amount! So definitely read the menu before! The wine was great! The chairs inside by the bar are hard as a rock and not comfortable so be prepared haha.

Great ambiance until you remember that you’re reservation has a time limit of 2 hours. -_- Wish expensive restaurants would remember you’re still a paying customer and it’s rude to put such strict time limits on people.

I always have a great time at Zinque. We go there a lot , love the food , atmosphere and great staff.
The wines were excellent. The food was so varied that the vegans, vegetarians, omnivores and carnivores in our group were all happy and satisfied with not only the variety but the absolutely delicious quality of everything we ordered. And the service was impeccable.
We chose to have a pre-show dinner at Zinque and we showed up 15 minutes early. Apparently, they take dinner reservations at 4:00 PM but do not provide table service until after 4:00. We went to the counter to order a bottle of wine and a staff member brought it to our table with a ice bucket and glasses. Best service of the evening. We eventually had to flag down a server after waiting until 4:30 for someone to come by our table. So, not a great start. Also, this is a French restaurant and there are several choices on the menu that includes Frites; however, they were out of french fries. We ordered a cheese plate, a Kale and Lentil bowl with grilled salmon and a flat bread with prosciutto and cheese. Cheese plate was okay but there was a cheese on the plate that no wait staff could identify and it did not taste very good. Very small sliver of Brie and three triangles of Comte. The Kale salad was not prepared very well; they did not tenderize the kale first. The grilled salmon was cooked perfectly. As for the flat bread, it was more of a cracker with cheese and prosciutto. We will not be going back even though we had high hopes. It seemed as though most of the staff were not very happy.
Fryer has been broken for months. No fries.

Server Alex is the best. Warm and authentic staff. Genuine. Professional. Food is always great. Super ambiance. Perfect place for all occasions and just hanging out.
Lovely open patio and delicious food
I am going to focus on my meal which was the salmon. It was simply awful. My friend, who is an experienced butcher for Wolfgang Puck, tells me the restaurant used the "tail of the salmon" the cheapest part for a $28 meal. It was paper thin and tough. The worst part is that the salmon and brown rice had a barrel of salt on them. I wouldn't pay $4.99 for that meal at Denny's. I am copying this review to the restaurant because if that is how they value their customers, maybe they should drop their salmon off the menu and save it for the "alley cats." Someone also needs to tell the cook that pounds of salt on meat will NEVER cover the lack of quality of the meal.
Good service with nice ambiance
This was the first time we ate at this restaurant. It was a very positive experience and we will return. The food was exceptional. The service was slow to get started, but proved to be highly competent and pleasant. The ambiance is not exceptional, but it was very pleasant for an outdoor eating experience. Give it a try. I think you'll like it.

Two of us, we sat at a hightop so we could be seated immediately. We made reservations that day and it was dinner with a friend, not a date, so I wasn't too peeved about it.
The food was truly delicious. The potatoes au gratin... ehr-mer-gehrd. Loved it. The lasagna was also delicious. Cocktails were pretty good, not incredible, the bread based appetizers were good too.
I enjoyed the hell out of this meal and I was super disappointed with myself when I realized I'd forgotten the leftovers in my car overnight and couldn't have them the next day for dinner :( I'll be back for sure.
I can always count on a good experience at Zinque. The food is moderately priced, the tables are far enough away from others and I never feel like I am competing w/someone else's conversation.
There is a good variety of food and it is always consistent . I definitely would recommend Zinque to others.

It felt like a very rushed experience. The food was delicious but our server never introduced herself and rushed through the order. Although everything arrived swiftly thanks to the technology it felt like we as humans in their restaurant did not matter. I appreciate efficiency but when it comes to dining I expect a level of human experience that was lacking.
It was alright but there was a horrendous smell lingering of spoiled shrimp/eggs/we dog not sure so it made me lose my appetite before the food even arrived. Food was ok but i prefer the lunch menu more
I had to get up from the table three different times to request service
Made a reservation but was told I would still have to wait 30-45 min for a table on the patio. Had to sit next to the street.
Overpriced with low quality and bland food. There are so many other places with better food. This place is not worth it.
Was possibly the worst meal I’ve had in LA. The food was flavorless and when asked for fresh ground pepper I was handed a couple of paper pepper packets. The service was very slow as well.
