Zingerman's Roadhouse Ratings and Reviews
First time coming to the Roadhouse for brunch and it did not disappoint. Brunch menu was good and included a nice range of brunch items and lunch items. Tried the sour cream coffee cake and it was out of this world. Friends had the Rueben (always a good choice at Zingerman's) and the chili was fantastic. Overall, we loved the ambience and the food for a Saturday brunch!
Have been a Zingerman's customer for 30 years (!), but this time - yikes - the food was absolutely substandard. French toast was like leather when they served it. They were nice and enough to re-cook a fresh batch for me, but it should have never left the kitchen! And, overpriced.
Went for Sunday Brunch at 11AM, so glad we made reservations ahead of time - place was busy! We were seated in one of their "added-on" side rooms. The heater felt nice and the side room actually had empty tables while we were there (I guess all those people waiting had too big of parties for that room??) - this actually made it quieter and easier to converse. It was about 40 minutes or so, before we got our food, but everyone's food was very tasty, no complaints. Waitress was very nice, refilled water glasses and coffee regularly. Zingerman's is a little "pricey", but the food is excellent and tasty! Nice place to "treat yourself". Note to Zingerman's: More plant strong Vegan options would be greatly appreciated -- maybe at least offer your Garden Salad in a large size with vegan protein add-in options such as black beans (or Kidney beans/ chickpeas/ edamame/ etc.) and/or tofu? Thanks!
I have to admit that I usually write a review only if it is really good or bad. This was amazing. The worst part was trying to decide between the many fabulous options. I think it was the best breakfast out I have ever had. Great food, great coffee, great service and nice atmosphere. I can’t wait to go back.
1) The ham was the saltiest thing I have ever had. Absolutely inedible. 2) The service was distracted, confused, kept replacing one another and making me repeat what I told the other person. Also, they walked away before I was through placing an order. I had to call them to come back, so I can finish my sentence. Weird. 3) Will never come back, not worth it, especially for the amount of money it cost - $17 for two poached eggs in a very noisy setting with poor, poor service and bitter burned coffee.
The menu is so good, very hard to choose from. I did the 4 course meal for $35. It had a salad, mac n cheese flight, BBQ meat and greens, and dessert. The only problem was in came out in courses and the 2nd course came out with my husband and son's dinner, so I was eating forever while they were done. I wish I would have known that and I would have asked for the 2 main courses to come together. Otherwise, the food was outstanding.
High quality ingredients prepared & served with care. If something's not right, they'll make it right. Comfortable, relaxed atmosphere celebrates food. Legendary owner is frequently on premises , keeping standards high. Can get a bit pricey, but the quality is there.
Definitely a roadhouse environment. Very noisy. Friendly staff, though. Our waiter was knowledgeable and quick. The food was basically American comfort food, but overpriced. I had hoped to see some of the sorts of foods that I have seen at your store, such as Spanish ham. Overall, it was a pleasant experience but short of the mark.
I was so happy to return to Zingermans after years away since my kids no longer attend UM.
But I was disappointed. The Mac and Cheese I ordered was nothing but a bad pasta dish and it arrived cold. With a lot of bland béchamel and a sprinkling of parmesan, it was nothing like the bubbly baked concoction I had expected to warm up post game.
Zingermans: you are resting on your laurels!!!
We had a big group on a football weekend and expanded it to 9 last minute, the hostess was great and able to accomodate. we had a mix of adults and teenagers- great food choices for all. I had the ribs and chicken. Definitely recommend the ribs, less so the fried chicken. Had a bite of my son's burger too, which was great. good selection of beers. Great, fun, casual atmosphere- felt like a road house!
Food was amazing -- stuffed peppers (vegan) and the fried chicken were awesome. A family with multiple kids sat next to us, so alas it was very difficult to hear my date across the table. Also, the cooling system was unfortunately skewed, with the room we were sitting in too cold, but the space on route to another part of the dining area was warmer. The servers were delightful and the overall ambiance were very friendly and foodie-loving (start off ambiance for the cold blowing air).
The Roadhouse is our neighborhood restaurant. Our favorite nights are the Mon and Thur blue plates and Tues for the hot chicken. Food is better than the average home cooking. I always feel comfortable with what I’m wearing - you can be super cas or quite dressed up. Servers treat us like old friends. Be sure to order the sweet potato fries.
Good not great. Seated in cold area of restaurant and had to ask for heater (weird). BBQ was good not great. Pimento cheese great but should have been served with crackers or bread or something more substantial. Slow to refill drinks. Not the super experience I expected and have had in the past at this place. Noticed the owner running about also, thus not sure what the issue was....
We were meeting an old family friend in Ann Arbor and decided to make a reservation at the RoadHouse and we were not disappointed. Great service from Ayah who was a joy thru out her service to our table. The food was ample and very good from the steak that my friend ordered to the chicken - too die for according to my wife, mac and cheese was 2 thumbs up from my daughter and my BBQ Beef sandwich was excellent.
Really nice choices of local beers on tap, decent selection of wines oh and save room for one of there many choices of donut deserts!
Nice experience on Saturday nite!
I ordered the salmon dinner. All parts were lukewarm, especially the mashed potatoes and spinach. I regret not asking for the food to be heated more.
My wife had a small mac and cheese which was good, but the cous cous salad was not plain cous cous as relayed by our waitress but contained some ingredient (goat cheese?) that rendered it uneatable for her (she did eat the accompanying greens).
We are regulars at the Roadhouse, and this was far from our usual dining experience.
The food is not good, if it is you should eat at better places. We had a wide range of food to try and it's all just blah average food. The prices of the "entrees" will leave you more blown away then the actual dining experience. Note when dining with kids, 1 drink and no free refills. A bowl of Mac and cheese for 19.00 is expensive and a 20 hamburger is expensive which would be easier to eat if it tasted better. I realize it's Ann Arbor and it's an investment but I can't make it again.
