The seventh member of Zingerman’s Community of Businesses, located in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the Roadhouse opened in 2003 with the vision of bringing really good American food to the community. The Roadhouse has worked hard to create its own truly unique food culture, transforming high-quality ingredients into traditional, full-flavored dishes after years of studying American foodways.

With chef Bob Bennett at the helm of the kitchen, and our James Beard Award nominated staff’s dedication to great service, the Roadhouse draws in regulars from all over. We welcome our fans from right down the block or from all over the country. Buttermilk Fried Chicken, award-winning Mac ‘n Cheese, NOLA Gumbo, Nashville Hot Chicken, Oyster Po’Boys, full-flavored burgers, and Donut Sundaes are just a few Roadhouse specialties that people look forward to every time they dine with us. Very surprised that the food is not up to the usual Zingerman’s standards. The fried chicken was heavily coated with a dark and burnt tasting coating and it was very dry. The mashed potatoes and gravy and coleslaw were good. The side of rice was very small with a tiny amount of butter. Our guests were happy with their food and my cocktail was excellent. Our server was not very attentive.

Met friends from out of town for dinner. We had a delicious meal and excellent service, resulting in an absolutely lovely evening. We opened with bread and hush puppies, each had an entree, and we saved room for dessert and decaf. We had seconds on the Detroit Street Decaf. Thanks for providing a perfect environment for our get together.

Zingerman’s always has the best ingredients. I have enjoyed every meal I have had there. Since they buy limited quantities of high quality ingredients they sometimes run out. Be prepared to make a different menu selection if they do.

Roadhouse is always a good option. First time for breakfast in a while. Ordered the Benedict. Poached eggs were hard boiled Ham was more like prociutto (menu said country ham so maybe that’s their version). Hollandaise was thin. Next time I’ll get the omelette.

Excellent service. Food was delicious. They were happy to modify they made one of the dishes to meet our preferences and it still was wonderful. Wonderful for a birthday dinner.

Food and service were great. Loved Amanda AND her recommendations. Oysters were super fresh and perfect. Everyone at our table of 4 commented on the generous portions.
