Located in the Art Gallery of Alberta in downtown Edmonton, Zinc offers a relaxed fine dining experience inspired by simple elegance and served in stunning surroundings. Zinc menu focuses on fresh Alberta ingredients fused with local artisan food products.
Intimate dinners, group celebrations, casual lunches or the simple enjoyment of a glass of wine become inspired at Zinc.
Zinc is open for lunch, dinner and Sunday Brunch. Our menus change seasonally and include dishes inspired by featured art exhibitions.
A perfect place for an old friend and I to relax, chat and eat good food. We indulged in the three course brunch and were never rushed and loved it all. All dishes were good and service was attentive but not overpowering. The restaurant was not busy so we stretched our meal out over three hours. It seemed the other patrons did as well so if you want a long, lazy meal, I'd recommend the brunch!
The service, and it cannot be on the shoulders of the server, but rather the kitchen, was very slow. We waited 45 minutes for 2 grilled cheese sandwiches and a club house. The restaurant was not at all busy, 2 or 3 other tables in addition to ours and no large parties. The waitress had to ask if there was any Chardonnay. There was but how the heck does a bar potentially run out of Chardonnay? There was no one at the front desk to immediately seat us when we arrived, there appeared to be only two staff on, the host and one waitress. The waitress took our drink order and the host took our food order. This was on a Friday which the expectation would have been to be a busy lunch day. Luckily it was not yet the service, getting our food, was very slow. I recommended the restaurant based on my other times there, I have been there for lunch and drinks at the bar many, many times and this was very unexpected and surprising. Hopefully just an off day. The food was ok but not nearly as good as other experiences.
The food was very good, but it was a quite confusing menu.
My wife order what she thought was chicken with a side of pasta (being described on the menu as "smoked chicken"), but it turned out to be effectively a Fettucine Alfredo with a small amount of chicken. She was disappointed, which was unfortunate, as we were there to celebrate her getting a new job.
The food itself was good, but it was frustrating that we didn't get what we thought we ordered.
It was a very satisfying prelude to going to the Art Gallery. My friend and I could easily hear each other, so the conversation time was relaxing. We loved the presentation of the food - almost afraid to destroy the art work, by eating it! What a great way to spend a Saturday early afternoon: nourishing the body, calming the mind, and then taking in the Art Gallery displays!
This was my second visit. The food and service was amazing. I will go back , and hopefully soon.
Knowing that my husband, daughter, and I were going to be visiting the Art Gallery of Alberta to see the Peter von Tiesenhausin, Undaunted, and Townsend displays shortly after 4 pm, we decided to keep things simple and have dinner at Zinc which, of course, is located in the AGA. I made reservations for 6 pm. We were done viewing early, so showed up at Zinc at 5:30. The place wasn't busy and we were seated as soon as the server saw us. The service was excellent - attentive but not obtrusive and the food was delicious. My husband had the salmon, I had the chicken with pasta, and our daughter - being a vegetarian - had the vegan ( fried tofu, red curry, coconut cream, spiced lentil & sweet potato, organic red quinoa tabbouleh with a spicy tomato sauce). My husband & I were pleased with our meals (I had planned on bringing half of mine home, but it was so good I ate the whole thing!), but unfortunately our daughter didn't care for hers. She said it was well prepared, but just a matter of personal taste that she didn't really like hers - so, no reflection on the restaurant. Overall, we enjoyed our meal at Zinc and would recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious, reasonably priced, and convenient end to wandering around the AGA.
Best and quietest brunch I have had in a long time....our server was EXCELLENT...
Delicious food and lovely service on a quiet Saturday morning.
As always the food and service was acceptional! Zinc is becoming our favorite downtown dining location. The venue is great for so many occasions.
This was our most horrible food experience in any restaurant in Edmonton... I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to my worst enemy... We had a special beef wellington special which was absolutely disgusting, if we wanted tasteless food we know where to go... we will never eat here again!!
We went on dated night to Zinc during the Dine Around Town event. This is one of those close - but not quite experiences. There were flashes of bold creativeness and other things that should just not have been served.
The starter lentil soup was exceptional, rich and spicy. A very promising start in a beautiful location. The deconstructed shrimp cocktail was playful and fun. Not adventurous but definitely a hit.
The Beef Wellington came next and dinner went off the rails badly. This should not have been served in a college dorm kitchen. Cold mushrooms, a piece of grey something (might have been beef or pork) wrapped in a soggy pastry with a light brown soup. Dine Around Time taxes every chef so don't offer this thing if it can not be done properly. The chef is afterall in charge of the expierence. We felt sorry for the exceptional servers who had to present this dish.
We will come back and try Zinc again because of the first two courses - but will avoid Beef Wellington. Expected more from Zinc given its pedigree.
It was a great place to be!
Very disappointing the beef wellington was over cooked and in what seemed like a pie crust instead of a puff pastry. The prawns were actually medium sized shrimp and the salad was warm and wilted. Service was unfriendly and the servers seemed uninterested at best. We had to request a coffee after dinner as we were not offered.
I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant!
Enjoyed Downtown Dining week here today at lunch.
Meal was very good and service was prompt.
Really enjoyed the meal today.
Funky and good, just the way we like it
First time here downtown dining week seemed to have them a little busy our server was a bit elusive didn’t see another server and hosts were delivering our food ... wine needed to be poured and nobody ever asked about our meal ..little things that would bring us back for sure ... food was very good ...
Food was good and nicely presented. Unfortunately the beef Wellington was undercooked (the pastry) and was the special for the evening.
Nice setting with a good view of the city streets and passers by. Great service and good food.
We ate at Zinc during the Downtown Dining week. To be honest, it was fairly disappointing. We were only allowed to order from a set menu (although the server then told us she would let us just order part of the set meals, since we felt it was too much food). The regular menu was not available. I need to have a gluten free meal, but was very limited in what was available. I had asked if I could have a salad and a cup of soup, but was told I could only have full meal size for both the salad and the soup, so just had the soup. Even when it came to paying, we were told that they don't have a mobile device so we had to go to the counter.
The food was fine, the restaurant itself is a great location and setting, and the waitress was polite. It was all a bit precious though. I won't be in a rush to go back, and neither will my dinner guest.
My friend and I chose Zinc because it is close to the Winspear Concert Hall, and we were going on to the symphony. The staff did an excellent job of making sure we would have a great dining experience and getting us to the concert on time. The food was delicious!
Soup was delicious, salad presentation was very creative, but main dish was underwhelming - beef was a bit tough. Server wasn’t overly friendly, but service itself was good.
Enjoyed dinner before theatre.
Our second visit and it lived up to the first... such nice food and humane portion-sizes and gentle, competent hospitality. We may become regulars!
This was our first time at Zinc and the food was amazing - delicious! The server was super pleasant as well! We’ll definitely come again to try yet more food!
It was an amazing brunch! Liane was amazing and attentive. The food was exceptional too for the price we paid! It has a nice ambience but it didn't make our wallet go bankrupt! Hahaha would definitely go back to bring bae!
The service was well timed and very friendly. For appetizers: duck confit spring rolls were good, but the white wine marinated crab & caramelized onion stuffed artichoke hearts were amazing. For dinner: the smoked chicken and homemade pasta, as well as the Coho salmon with truffled potato croquettes topped with wild boar were super tasty. The best thing to end the night was the best Spanish coffee I’ve ever had paired with their banana bread pudding, it was stupendous!! We will definitely go back for another special occasion.
Excellent location, facility, ambience, service, food. Love the varied options and choice of choosing item by item. Our servers were attentive, professional and friendly. The food I chose was absolutely amazing and the combination of flavors was delightful.
There is no downside to anything (food, service, etc) here. Absolutely fantastic.
Beautiful looking restaurant, with the Edmonton Art Gallery behind it, and the city plaza with skating under Christmas lights, just across the street - all easy to see through the 15 foot floor to ceiling glass. Inside, the tables are spread out nicely to allow for conversation, whether for business or romance. And we quite liked the focused but adequately diverse menu. The tapas allowed us to sample everything from a grilled Caesar to Swedish meatballs. Yummy dessert. Kind host and attentive waiter.
Great food and great service I love the view and Fady the manager was very professional
Good food and service.
Excellent food and very good service. Not noisy so it was excellent for conversation
Food was beyond great. Service was impeccable. Great ambiance.
Zinc was ok. Food really good! White wine served waaay too cold. Had to remind to include the bread that was included with olives. Bread fantastic.
Too much obsequious "How is it" throughout meal by various staff. Very nice touch servers going around with wine bottles offering top ups! Lovely waitress we had!
Cluttered entrance. Interior lighting gets creepy when outside light fades. Dark blue paint too dark, very black hole. Art gallery, eh?
Great service. Nice setting. Appetizers were good. Protein was well executed. Rest was just ok.
Had another lovely visit in Zinc! The service is always excellent but we really enjoyed the new menu this time around.
The bagel for the grilled bagel and lox was really bready, definitely no care given to finding a quality bagel or even toasting it really. Salad was very bland with flavourless dressing. Fried kale on top of bagel was good.
As always the food was great. They find a way to make common things with a twist.
Once again Zinc provided a first class dining experience at fair price. The food, as in the past, was full of flavour and wonderful combinations. Did not order a bottle of wine, the glass pour was excellent quality. Service was excellent. Still one of our favourite restaurants in a City full of great eateries.
Zinc was able to accommodate a last minute reservation on a Saturday night. Service was excellent and the food and drinks were great. Half price martinis made for a great night!
