The restaurant was nice and warm on a -3 degree evening! Everything was good. The plating of the food was outstandingly creative. The portions were nice size. The taste was good. It is a hidden gem that you can not recognize from the street. You must enter and be surprised.
We had a very enjoyable dinner with a quiet atmosphere. We ordered our favorite appetizers of Lobster Bisque and oysters on the half shell. I ordered the handcrafted cocktail, cranberry martini, which was wonderful. The Surf and Turf and the Filet Mignon meal were also fabulous. We were not disappointed with the food or the wonderful staff.
They over all have great food. The surf in turf is a very tiny portion and the steaks are not flavorful at all.
Didn't really know what to expect, but the food was very good ... and creative. Much better than expected.
The food was amazing from appetizer, entree and dessert. The restaurant was a little louder than I would have liked this time but that was mainly b/c there was a larger table of people. The wait staff was very attentive to our needs and the food came out quickly and was awesome.
Amazing place. The staff was extremely friendly. We went later in the evening for my husband's birthday. When we had desert the waitress even placed a candle in desert and wished him happy birthday.

We were excited to try Zinc for the first time and came away a bit disappointed. The escargot was completely lacking garlic, the entrees were expensive, but not that special and at the end of our dining experience, our server was nowhere to be found. We eventually had to ask another server for assistance and never did see our server again. For a place that markets itself as top level fine dining, we were disappointed.
Food, service and atmosphere is always top notch whether at Hearth or the more formal Zinc. Never been disappointed.
Heard a friend mention it so decided to try it out. Was very pleased, called friend and thanked him for "name dropping" lol. Very cozy, not a huge crowd atmosphere. Service was great and the food offering were some that are not on every menu in our locale. Chef does a great job, and ingredients are the best. * Will go back !

Great spot for food and atmosphere between Clevand and Toledo. Is quite noisy but this can be overlooked for the other pleasant amenities. Great service .
Enjoyed four very good meals that were well served. As is routine for the tourist town of Sandusky, prices are higher that one typically enjoy elsewhere.
I can't find enough good things to say about our experience tonight at Zinc. We came in from Cleveland for our 5 year anniversary with our 3 month old daughter... who did NOT want to celebrate. She's usually great at restaurants but was very cranky after a long day. The staff (and even another very kind patron) went far beyond expectations to help us out trying to soothe our angry little one and give us the chance to eat our dinner while it was still warm. I am so grateful to how they took care of a couple frazzled new parents!
And of course the food was amazing! I had the duck duo and it was so perfectly done. My husband had surf and turf and loved it too.
This is definitely a place we want to return next time we're out this way... just maybe next time we'll get a babysitter!
Food was very good. I have been to restaurants in Europe and am a hobby chef- food was spot on furst night. Was so good i came back the next day and had the same. Wasn't as good the next day. Slightly undercooked mear and nor as good cut. Otherwise fine.
Our dinners were very good, although my crab stuffed salmon would have been better with less sauce. Vegetables were done just right.
I would like to see a more extensive wine list.

Pizza was good. Steak had no flavor other than the sauce on top. I wouldnt say cold but steak was warm. Not good . My wife had same steak same.
My review would be much more positive if they had not seated a group of 8 very rowdy men at the table next to us early in our meal! The Tavern side of the restaurant would have been a much more appropriate location for this group. Though the folks at another adjacent table were fortunately finishing their meal, the gentleman at that table felt compelled to cover his ears until they could finish, pay their bill & depart!
Raw steak (ordered medium well), cold calamari appetizer, ordered drink that wasn't served, but was on bill.
I was very disappointed with the service. We had reservations for 6 people and had to wait 20 minutes past our reservation time to be seated and that is only after we chased someone down to help us. several people left mad because there was nobody was manning the front of the restaurant. I had the foi gras for an appetizer and it was extremely over cooked. For my entree I had the soft shell crab. One crab was very good but the other one was very fishy. Two people had the duck duo and said it was good and my wife had the squash ravioli which had a filling that was a bit dry. Overall, it's a great place that maybe was having an off night. I would go back and try it again in hopes that they are on their A game.

Our family was in town for the dance nationals at the Kalahari Resort and Convention Center and we wanted to find a place with great atmosphere and great food. It exceeded our expectations and was a memorable evening with my mother and my two daughters. I highly recommend the Zinc Brasserie. The food was amazing from the soups to the salads to the entrees and onto the creme brulee!
Server was great. Service was quite slow, however, because they only had one server taking care of the entire dining room. Pizza dough has gotten thicker over the years, was better when thinner. Salad was to die for. Crab stuffed salmon was excellent. Time to paint the walls in the restaurant because they are getting dirty. Restroom was clean. Creme brûlée was perfect.
Will come back and recommend.

Chef is outstanding..Food is best in northern ohio....Ambience is quiet and romantic,yet not stuffy at all...Highly recommend Zincs for quality fine dining....NEVER disappoints

My best friend was visiting from out of town and we were celebrating my birthday. Went on a Thursday night and made a reservation, tho probably didn't need to. Food was delicious! Duck for me, because I never make it at home, and sea bass for her because she always eats fish when she's near water. Well prepared, interesting side choices, good wine list to accompany. Restaurant a little noisy, tables close, and people brought kids for late dining which seems a poor choice to me ... Would definitely go again though.
Great atmosphere, great good, great service. Sharon (sever) always fun and knowledgeable regarding selections. Highly recommend. A Sandusky gem that is well worth any drive. Definitely one of our favorite spots regardless of what we are in the mood for. Having the casual option of the Hearth as well as the option of kicking up a notch at Zinc makes it an even better destination.
We were very unimpressed. The champagne I ordered was flat, and had to be sent back. They didn't have another bottle so I had to buy a more expensive split. This should've been reduced to the price of the original split. The escargot while tasty was a bit over cooked, as was the steak I ordered. Over not what we expect and not with the money.
If you are a serious foodie you are in for a treat because Zinc brasserie is for serious foodies like me. The stuffed salmon was Deelish as was the Pasta Putanesca and the Boulliabase. It's always a treat eating here cuz you know it will be fine dining well served.
It was great! Little slow service but there was a large table of prom kids so we understood. The duck was stellar!!!
The food was excellent. My wife and I split an order of truffle fries. The truffle flavoring was enough to taste but not overpowering. I had the bouillabaise. It contained shrimp, scallops, calamari, some type of fish (not local) and finger length potatoes. The calamari was cooked perfectly, tender not chewy.
Smaller cozy restaurant and bar with original food, well prepared and pleasantly served. I have a gluten allergy and they were ready to prepare just about anything on the menu to suit. Nice wine list and maybe a bit on the pricey side but a good value. I had a salad of mixed greens, goat cheese, cranberry & walnut , coriander encrusted salmon with fresh veggies. My wife had crab stuffed salmon and we shared a chocolate mousse for desert. I'd recommend it to anyone in the area. It is over 700 miles from home so it is unlikely we'll be back but it was a great experience.
My wife and I enjoy dining at Zinc Brasserie every month or so. The menu is nicely varied, the preparation always very good, the waitstaff appropriately attentive. I particularly enjoy the lobster bisque although it is served so hot that I have started asking for a small glass of ice to cool it. The duck duo is also a favorite.

From area but had never been to Zinc... for Anniversary decided to go. Service was very good, our server Taylor L. did a excellent job of helping select the meal and explained what to expect. The Angry Calamari and sauce( was very rewarding for calamari lovers) a great starter , Lobster Bisque was different from the what I'm use to around the Islands, served with a tasty crusty puff dome, this feature sealed the satisfying difference for me, Surf & Turf cooked to perfection and expected of a pricey dish like this, Sesame Salmon was very good as well but would recommend the curry sauce on the side as Taylor suggested (partner not real keen on curry, I thought it was tasty but I like the heavy pepper crust more than her as well), The Ginger Apple Crust dessert was light and plentiful (had coffee with, that was my home run finish). Overall great meal and service.
Dock our boat near by in the summer spending alot of time in the nearby saloons yet would recommend a visit or more to appriciate all that Sandusky has to offer. Thank You
