About this restaurant

  • Charming
  • Great for outdoor dining
  • Good for special occasions
A New York Style Parisian Bistro. A 4000 sq, foot restaurant that is designed with contemporary sensibilities, yet returns the nostalgic ambiance of an authentic Parisian bistro. Round marble bistro tables and wicker chairs spill out onto the sidewalk, offering a kind of people watching one might indulge in, along Boulevard Saint-Germain. Zinc Bistro also offer a romantic garden patio secluded deep in the restaurant, lit by candles during the evening, creating an unforgettable ambiance, or a relaxing atmosphere near our fountain in the afternoon. The oyster bar stands at the end of the 25 foot zinc bar, serving fruit de mer platters, as well as all of the accoutrements. We bring in shellfish daily, offering the freshest oysters, clams, mussels, and lobster in the desert.

Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
Zinc Bistro offers a "wonderful ambience" reminiscent of Paris, with "delicious food" and "fantastic service." Regulars praise the "best mussels and truffle fries." Standout servers like Megan and Ann enhance the dining experience. Although some find it pricey, the "great wine list" and "beautiful courtyard" make it a "must-visit" in Scottsdale.

I go to Zinc all the time - the food is very good. Love the atmosphere! My issue is the staff every single time tries to take your plates right after you start eating. We were asked this last time if our plates could be taken with 3/4ths of food left on them over 6 times. I just wish that would change.

We had to wait to be seated as there was only one hostess working. Mayra took 10 min to get to us after we finally got seated, although cold hard bread and water were promptly brought to us by the busboy. Mayra did not hear us when we told her we were ready to order by the time she showed up. And she forgot the hot water we initially asked for. She was also hard to get, disappearing for 15 min at a time. We had to get other wait staff to look for her, and still had trouble. Finally, we were able to order a drink, and get one of our entrées returned. This lapse seemed to be distinct to her, as we saw the other server several times who was working the same area, but different tables. Too bad we didn't have her instead. The venue was noisy. So it was hard to have a conversation. The ahi tuna tartare was good, well-seasoned. The star was the onion soup -- classic crock with a great broth, plenty of onions and excellent Gruyère. The Zinc Manhattan was also good -- strong dose of china china, bourbon and plum bitters. The olives we got were a bit firm. The cassoulet toulousain was an epic failure. The duck confit was very tough to cut. The soggy skin was overseasoned with a fermented honey glaze, making it sickeningly sweet. The beans, though, were cooked properly, and the foie gras sausage was a nice ingredient for the dish. Unfortunately, we had to send it all back. We replaced it with a pâté maison. This was a coarse country pate, that was oversalted, partly due to the bacon wrap. We think a foie gras torchon would have been better. Didn't need the mustard. The frisée was overdressed. The charred country bread was too thick for this dish. The manager was kind enough to take the cassoulet and pâté off the bill. The filet mignon was perfectly cooked. However, the fries were soggy, lacking texture and wilted. Quite sad. We ended with an affogato, which was a good finish.
