Outdoor is wonderful but indoor is loud. Food was generally pretty good.service was excellent
Great food and service. Too loud where we were sitting.
We loved (almost) everything about Zinc... except for a nearby table of loud, crass, thoughtless women who ruined the courtyard experience for 4-5 other tables. I don’t know what Zinc or any other proprietor can do about those kind of people. It’s a shame to give them free reign over everyone else’s experience.
Amazing Food. Amazing Service. Highly Recommend. Everything we ordered was delicious, the crab cakes are to die for, packed full of crab & little filler, the Caesar salad was crisp, light & authentic, the Pasta Portofino was creamy, perfectly portioned, & had the perfect balance of flavours, & the Brioche Apple Bread Pudding Soufflé was the perfect end to our meal, their ice cream was spot on & the pudding itself was warm, gooey bliss. Sarah was our server & we adored her, personable, helpful & honest, she’s a gem & we would come back for her alone!
Waitress either had too many tables or just could not handle the work. Other than the service being sub par everything else was good.
We live in Austin (were in SA for 11 months 2015-16) and friends from the Northeast were in SA for a conference. Met them for dinner at Zinc, and were happy that we did. The staff was very good, the food was extremely good, the cocktails were excellent. Minor glitches in bringing food out, but they were very busy, and, since we were sitting at an outdoor table on a mild evening, those were easy to overlook. Recommend Zinc heartily, and would definitely go again when in SA.
Our first visit. Wonderful meal! I had the crab cakes and loved the accompanying salad. My husband had the short rib sandwich; both were delicious. Thank you!
The food was good but it seemed as if they were understaffed. The individuals who served us were good but there were multiple ones with long gaps between attention. Things like refilling water glasses didn’t happen.
The venue, the food and the beverages are very good. When things go wrong, they don’t have a good model to address.
One of our dinner entrees was incorrect. It got replaced. Everyone else had finished eating when the replacement arrived. Not ideal.
No visit by a manager. No concession or acknowledgement. Therefore the paradox.
Too bad.
We were in from out of town and thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Zinc. I had the crab cakes any husband had the lamb paparedelle. We shared the pumpkin creme brûlée for dessert and had an excellent bottle of wine. Great service and interesting atmosphere.
Crab cakes and Kale salad were so good! Table side made guacamole was delicious! The kids had the fish and chips - also very good!
The food overall was decent. The outdoor space was lovely. Overall, a pretty good experience.
The ambiance is cool, the drinks are great, but the food is subpar at best. I would prefer the pricing to increase and they offer a higher quality of entrees. The appetizers were great.
Best pizza crust outside of Italy. Generous portions of wine. Salad a real bargain.
We were vacationing in San Antonio and Zinc was recommended to us by our daughter we had a wonderful happy hour there followed by a really nice dinner loved the hummus and the zinc salad and our servers were top notch will definitely recommend to anyone visiting San Antonio
This restaurant used to be one of my favorite....unfortunately the service and food quality has gone down significantly since last year....I can't in all conscience recommend this place anymore. I was really sad and very disappointed with my last visit....
Pleasant spot for a quiet business lunch.
Food was good, no over the top 'creations' but solid, quality dishes.
Services was attentive and prompt.
Food was very good. Attentive service. Prices were very reasonable. Would definitely recommend.
I don't ever think I have sad this but this restaurant is UNDERPRICED in terms of quality and service. The courtyard seats are worth the wait.
Excellent experience. Dining before an event. Great ambience. Easy parking. Hummus appetizer and margarita pizza entrée was fabulous.
Excellent food, sangria and wine! Very cool vibe and friendly staff.
We were here on a girl’d trip and were looking for something off the Riverwalk to avoid some crowds. This restaurant has great variety on their menu. The courtyard is beautiful. We were at a little table next to a fountain in the brick courtyard with string lights above us. We came with a stroller. There were a couple stairs to navigate but the hostess helped us. I wouldn’t say this was a “kid friendly” place for older kids. We had a 6 month old and she hung out in our stroller and in our laps. We came at 6:15pm and there were lots of tables to pick from. By the time we left (7:30?) the restaurant was pretty busy.
Great service. You could tell the waitress knew we were on a first date and just made the experience rock.
We were given a horrible table, in back corner against a shelf of restaurant supples, pitchers, wine buckets, napkins. Since we had a reservation and were just about the only people eating, I am not sure why we got such a bad table. Food and service was good, waiter Dustin was very attentive. Very reasonably priced.
Great place
Terrible service - 20 mins before we were waved down water to out table and no subsequent voluntary efforts made to refill - Simple food requests landed on table at random times.Overall, zero communication between manager, wait staff, and kitchen staff
We were seated on the patio by the fountain. It was a nice setting. Our waiter was very attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. The food was amazing. I had a prickly pear margarita which was very good. The brie and the fig jam went very well with the lamb burger. I would recommend this entree. My husband had the special muffaletta sandwich which he enjoyed. The zinc salad was delicious.
We walked in a minute before our reservation and were immediately seated. Wait staff attended us right away, and appeared to enjoy their public. We ordered the grilled shrimp and the lamb burger. Seriously, 15 minutes after sitting, our food was presented. And it was delicious. My wife felt my sweet potato fries were over done, but they are shoestring style and I loved them. The lamb burger was out of this world. Dessert looked good, but we had tickets for a show. I did have the Irish Coffee, and our total bill before tip was under $40. We'll be back, and will bring friends. (Need to come back to taste some different wines.)
The hostess was abrupt seating us, but our waiter was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. It was a beautiful spring evening, and we sat out in the courtyard. We really like the guacamole, but my shrimp with rice was OK. The rice was flavorful, but the shrimp was skewered with too large chunks of green pepper, onions, and baby portabella mushrooms. The tails were left on, meaning a third of the shrimp had to be dug out of the chared exoskeleton. I wish I had gotten a shrimp or two more, minus giant peppers, and that the tarragon butter had been drizzled on the skewered items.
Visited this place twice in two nights. Saw another couple that did the same. Small menu but excellent variety and good proportions. Very good wine list - broad global selection. Service was also incredible - thank you Sarah. Will visit again next time we return to San Antonio
Food made it all. Great wine list. Creative dishes. Enjoyed our shrimp and Zinc salad with salmon. Would definitely recommend this restaurant. Bread pudding served with coffee ice cream was TDF!!
Had the calamari and Truffle Parmesan fries were a great start to our dinner, along with the prickly pear margaritas. The Chicken Grilled Ceasar salad, crab cakes and Zinc burger were really, really good. The only disappointment was the Churrascos of grilled shrimp. It comes with mushrooms and they were unable to make a dinner for one of our guests without the mushrooms (allergic) because the recipe is made ahead and the mushrooms are mixed in. They did not have any un-thawed shrimp to make a dish on request.
Our server was very attentive and great fun. Would definitely recommend.
Lovely food in a relaxed atmosphere. The shrimp skewers and lamb burger are phenomenal
We were in town for a conference and found it on the internet and close to our hotel It was delicious and the service was amazing!!
Just a couple blocks off the riverwalk...great food, great prices, very comfortable restaurant. Interesting wine selection, good beer choices, well prepared casual food.
Table was ready 30 minutes before reservation. Food and drinks were excellent and staff was friendly.
The main reason I want to write a review is that we had a great waiter: he was attentive while being very busy with larger groups. He also recommended a few restaurants for the next night when I gave him some attributes I was looking for: price range combined with atmosphere.
Great ambiance, food & service for the price range, great value! Loved the table side guacamole!
Extra bonus is the happy hour prices!
This was an unexpected but definitely pleasant discovery. The lamb burger was outstanding and the shrimp was delicious as well. Ambiance depends on where you're seated. The courtyard area is much better than the red room where we were seated, but we still enjoyed the evening.
Superb service, Excellent. food. Will return next time in San Antonio. Extensive wine selection. One of the best resturants we visited while on vac.
