One of our favorite restaurants for lunch or dinner. Always warmly greeted when we arrive and I have never had a server that wasn't friendly and very professional.
Frankie ROCKS. His amazing service always makes for a memorable meal.
Place flat out sucks. Wines are very overpriced. You pay $55 for a $15 bottle. Food was awful. We got the Le Fromage. The cheese was below average. They also give you some jelly that taste like it's a Fry's brand. The waitress wasn't helpful in selecting the cheeses so we just did the chef's choice, which when it was brought out, we weren't told what ones were selected. Waitress also wasn't helpful when we asked questions about the menu. And only came by once to fill up our wine glasses and check on us. The beef cheeks weren't terrbile (but not great) and the inside was nice looking.
I have been going to Zinc for years. It has been a reliable bistro style experience. Just recently we went and both ordered the steak frites but I wanted salad instead of frites. I do this all the time in various restaurants because I cannot eat nightshade vegetables (of which potatoes are included) or gluten or grains. The server seems to be very thrown off by this request and said I could order a salad (which are approx $12) or a side dish. But I simply wanted plain meat and a vegetable and all the other meats or fish (except for oysters) are multi-ingredient affairs that invariably have one or more ingredients that I cannot have. So steak frites are the easiest thing to work with and making a simple substitution on the frites seemed like it should be easy.
To minimize the fuss I just ordered the salad without the steak. So the restaurant ended up selling me a much cheaper entree option.
I don't know if this was a communication issue or that the kitchen really cannot or will not make basic substitutions. Many people now are eating more low carb or, in my case, have problems with certain foods such as nightshades. Seems like getting greens instead of potatoes should be easy to do with no surcharges or fuss.
Always the best of everything here. Food, service, ambiance, good wine list AND the best bread ever!
Love the food. The shellfish tower is very good. Never disappointed there
Always reliable food quality. Bartender (Charles) is the best.
We felt that the service was OK but not being busy it took a while for our server to come over. The food was OK but there are so many restaurants to choose from in the area so this wouldn't be my first choice
This place is consistently good, but there was a group of drunk girls in the bar that were making a huge racket. They should have been either told to shut up or leave. Always excellent service.
Really great all around meal, had fantastic service and was reasonably priced. The only complaint was out of their control with a loud table.
One of my favorite go to spots in Scottsdale. Great for every day or a special occasion. I have been coming here for years and it never disappoints. Food is fantastic and the ambience is perfect. It really is like dining in an authentic Paris bistro in fact, we had a friend visiting from France and he felt right at home. I love it!
Always love a birthday soufflé!
The food was wonderful and Ashley, our waitress, took fantastic care of us.
The service was excellent and the food was amazing. I didnt know what to expect since I'd never been here before. Will definitely enjoy eating here again!
Wonderful meal for a very special evening.
Zinc Bistro is the real deal. The truffle fries are to die for. The presentation of fries in a paper lined tin container was authentic French detail, Each entree was perfect, and the garnishes were excellent. The green beans were delicious.
Talk about over the top great service... I ordered an omelette with crab, though it wasn’t on the menu, and Zinc made it for me..
The omelette was Fluffy, perfect and topped with little tiny crisp straw potatoes .. Great waiter, attentive and knowledgeable—
Excellent wine selection, affordable.. Zinc is the best..and such great atmosphere. It feels like a party just walking in the door.
Best steak filet I’ve had here. Beef cheeks were great as well. High quality bread and French butter, always appreciated. Service always great
Another outstanding meal at Zinc Bistro! We split the spinach salad with poached eggs and bacon with a glass of Ricard to accompany it. Flatiron steak with frites after that with a wonderful Cote De Rhone. We'll be back!
Love Zinc Bistro! It’s is a true tribute to what one likes to find in a French bistro. The food is amazing and creative. The atmosphere is casually sophisticated.
We enjoyed our dinner experience at Zinc Bistro. Our server, Mayra, was professional,
cheerful and very competent.
I would not order the maison pate, as it was dry and not easily spreadable on the delicious
bread. A creamy pate would have been more desirable. The food spacing was not great. We had to wait an excessively long period between our salad course and the main course. However, the wait was worth while as the Chateaubriand was done perfectly.
It would have been nice to have been able to order Vichyssoise in lieu of French Onion soup on a 108 degree Scottsdale day. On the other hand, the French Onion soup was spectacular.
The wine selection was very adequate and we were pleased.
We had a terrific desert selection and as a special birthday treat we were treated to a wonderful creme brulee.
All in all, a very nice birthday dinner. Our thanks to Zinc Bistro and Mayra.
Our favorite French Bistro in Scottsdale, food, just about everything from seafood, appetizers, selections of cheeses, meets, burgers, bread and butter, truffle potatoes, All will taste Parisian delicacy, decor is relaxing and just enough glitzy, stuff synergy is exceptional!
always great. Wish there were more small plates, but I always love what I have.
What an awesome experience. We were there for over two hours, talking and having a great night. Didn't feel rushed with the service at all. Our waitress was outstanding! Super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Great ambiance, and the food was amazing!!!! Would definitely go back!
This place use to be a favorite and we frequented in previous years and this review is solely based off our experience on Saturday evening. My husband & I actually got a night off from our two young children whoa hoo !!! It had been a couple years since our last visit so we were so excited to come back to one of our old favorites. We arrived and were promptly greeted and seated. Our server came and took our drink orders & told us about the specials. We went ahead and stared off with an appitzer The Pork belly which was very tough and I couldn’t cut through with my knife but only on one side. We didn’t finish it and didn’t say anything my husband doesn’t like making a fuss. On to the entrees my husband and I ordered the steak Frites because it’s always been a delicious and one of my personal favorites along with the duck. The young man brought out our food who was not our server and was kind enough to switch or plates around he could tell I was not thrilled with how the steak looked so my husband took mine and he likes his steak med rare. What they brought out was RAW !!! He at this point would have gotten sick if he had eaten it so we asked the young gentleman to find out server. I saw him go up to her and explaine the situation and she started rolling her eyes and was clearly annoyed. She made her way over and my husband politely asked if they could cook it longer since he ordered it as med rare and that it was raw. She left the fries which where cold and seasoned horribly so he could have something to eat. Which he didn’t you would think in a case like this they would rush out and order but it took a long time I was finished with my steak was mediocre at best but cooked correctly just tasted like something we could have ordered at Long horn for a lot less money. After that our sever had an attitude and was making it very obvious that she was annoyed. At this point whatvshould have been a enjoyable night out was anything but that. Very disappointed & won’t be back.
Went there for lunch and ordered the Boulebase which I had several times before. The dish had 2 scallops 2 clams and three tiny shrimp. The server took it back and the dish came back just as before. The manager was rude and dismissive not caring at all about my concern. This dish was $22 and was so skimpy But the rude attitude was even worse. The manager who is usually there was not. If I acted like that at work I would have been fired. Very unprofessional
Totally lame from beginning to end. We ordered chateaubriand for two, onion soup, a salad and some wine. My young son ordered macaroni and cheese. We had allocated 1.5 hours for dinner. We weren’t served anything for almost an hour, and from then on it was a race to eat it all before we had to leave. We told the waiter our deadlines when we ordered, and she assured us all would be fine, but then she blamed us at the end for ordering something that took time to prepare. I will never go back. Food was ok, but not $200 ok. And the service would get a waiter and the cooks guillotined in France. Zinc Bistro is faux French with faux service. Avoid! (Yes, sorry, I’m really upset. The only reason I didn’t blow a gasket at dinner tonight was my young son was with us.)
The food and service at Zinc continues to outperform any --any-- of the restaurants in Kierland or the Quarter. Many lunches and diners--and have always had my expectations exceeded.
There is one overwhelming problem though: Zinc noise level is off the charts. Even in close seating with friends, conversations is impossible...truly impossible. And, that is a shame. So, here is the advice--if eating there with friends-do take out--because that is the only way you are going to have that conversation.
I so wish that Zinc would put some effort into making the whole dining experience a positive one--invest in noise reduction... Alas, I fear that Zinc owners will not do such. Too bad.
Always awesome and our server was fantastic.
Family and friend celebrating our birthdays. Delicious, inventive, carefully prepared and presented food, great wine and even chocolate souffles with amazing chocolate sauce for our birthdays with a sparkler in a lemon half. The service was attentive and smooth but not intrusive. Like being in Paris in Arizona.
Thank you for a wonderful bday dinner! We'll be back!
Great spot for lunch. We were both very pleased with the meal. Traditional bistro food that is well executed. Great service too.
Excellent pate maison and sparkling rose. Service was great.
Three of us visited Zinc Bistro in North Scottsdale on a Saturday evening at 18:45 in June, 2018. We had been to Zinc on a prior visit for lunch. That was a very good “lunchtime” experience. But this “suppertime” visit was for a special occasion, my birthday. So we had very high expectations of having a pleasant evening.
Overall: The entire experience exceeded our expectations. Service was impeccable. The waitress’s knowledge was impressive. The only thing she didn’t know was the percentage of cacao chocolate in the soufflé. We’ll forgive her for that... The attention to detail was apparent. When it comes to the quality and taste of the food, it was excellent. Only the Chateaubriand was slightly rarer than we expected. And even the soufflé was very tasty, as attested by the empty ramekins. So overall we rate our experience last night as “excellent”. The only thing that gave my wife indigestion was the bill which was a little over $300.00 for us three. Will we be back? Absolutely.
Outstanding as always. Easier than flying to France.
I've eaten here dozens of times and it's easily a favorite spot. The energy is amazing and reminds me of Europe. Food is always consistently good and I've never had a bad meal or experience
I've never had an unhappy dining experience at Zinc. I'd recommend it to anyone. I especially love the mussels!
Been dining at Zinc the past 18 years or more as part of our family's yearly vacation ritual when we visit the Valley each year. The ambiance, food and service continues to be of high quality, no matter what time of day or night it is. Ask for the courtyard patio when not too hot outside.
Dinner and service was great!
Me and my wife went there during the restaurant week just for trying a different restaurant, and that was an awesome experience, we will definitely go back. Everything from food to service was outstanding.
We were seated outside as requested. The problem was we were under a ceiling fan and a light. As the fan circulated past the light, it created this annoying strobe light effect. One can feel the headache coming on. We asked to have the fan turned off. A busboy said he would ask, and came back with a “no, they are set and we can’t “. I asked another lady and she said sternly, “no, people like the fan on, ( although it was only under our party of 4) and it is set. She offered to move us and we accepted. But as soon as we were moved, another party of 4 sat at our previous table and they asked for the fan to be turned off and it was immediately!! Oh ok, it was fine for them, but not us?!! Our food was delicious, but it took about 23 minutes to get our appetizers, and another 20 to get our mains. The restaurant was not very busy so not impressed with this place at all:(
