Went there for lunch and ordered the Boulebase which I had several times before. The dish had 2 scallops 2 clams and three tiny shrimp. The server took it back and the dish came back just as before. The manager was rude and dismissive not caring at all about my concern. This dish was $22 and was so skimpy But the rude attitude was even worse. The manager who is usually there was not. If I acted like that at work I would have been fired. Very unprofessional
Totally lame from beginning to end. We ordered chateaubriand for two, onion soup, a salad and some wine. My young son ordered macaroni and cheese. We had allocated 1.5 hours for dinner. We weren’t served anything for almost an hour, and from then on it was a race to eat it all before we had to leave. We told the waiter our deadlines when we ordered, and she assured us all would be fine, but then she blamed us at the end for ordering something that took time to prepare. I will never go back. Food was ok, but not $200 ok. And the service would get a waiter and the cooks guillotined in France. Zinc Bistro is faux French with faux service. Avoid! (Yes, sorry, I’m really upset. The only reason I didn’t blow a gasket at dinner tonight was my young son was with us.)
Family and friend celebrating our birthdays. Delicious, inventive, carefully prepared and presented food, great wine and even chocolate souffles with amazing chocolate sauce for our birthdays with a sparkler in a lemon half. The service was attentive and smooth but not intrusive. Like being in Paris in Arizona.
Thank you for a wonderful bday dinner! We'll be back!
Great spot for lunch. We were both very pleased with the meal. Traditional bistro food that is well executed. Great service too.
Excellent pate maison and sparkling rose. Service was great.
Three of us visited Zinc Bistro in North Scottsdale on a Saturday evening at 18:45 in June, 2018. We had been to Zinc on a prior visit for lunch. That was a very good “lunchtime” experience. But this “suppertime” visit was for a special occasion, my birthday. So we had very high expectations of having a pleasant evening.
Overall: The entire experience exceeded our expectations. Service was impeccable. The waitress’s knowledge was impressive. The only thing she didn’t know was the percentage of cacao chocolate in the soufflé. We’ll forgive her for that... The attention to detail was apparent. When it comes to the quality and taste of the food, it was excellent. Only the Chateaubriand was slightly rarer than we expected. And even the soufflé was very tasty, as attested by the empty ramekins. So overall we rate our experience last night as “excellent”. The only thing that gave my wife indigestion was the bill which was a little over $300.00 for us three. Will we be back? Absolutely.
Outstanding as always. Easier than flying to France.
I've eaten here dozens of times and it's easily a favorite spot. The energy is amazing and reminds me of Europe. Food is always consistently good and I've never had a bad meal or experience
I've never had an unhappy dining experience at Zinc. I'd recommend it to anyone. I especially love the mussels!
Been dining at Zinc the past 18 years or more as part of our family's yearly vacation ritual when we visit the Valley each year. The ambiance, food and service continues to be of high quality, no matter what time of day or night it is. Ask for the courtyard patio when not too hot outside.
Dinner and service was great!
Me and my wife went there during the restaurant week just for trying a different restaurant, and that was an awesome experience, we will definitely go back. Everything from food to service was outstanding.
We were seated outside as requested. The problem was we were under a ceiling fan and a light. As the fan circulated past the light, it created this annoying strobe light effect. One can feel the headache coming on. We asked to have the fan turned off. A busboy said he would ask, and came back with a “no, they are set and we can’t “. I asked another lady and she said sternly, “no, people like the fan on, ( although it was only under our party of 4) and it is set. She offered to move us and we accepted. But as soon as we were moved, another party of 4 sat at our previous table and they asked for the fan to be turned off and it was immediately!! Oh ok, it was fine for them, but not us?!! Our food was delicious, but it took about 23 minutes to get our appetizers, and another 20 to get our mains. The restaurant was not very busy so not impressed with this place at all:(
The only reason I rated the ambience low, was due to the fact that we had a terrible party of three seated next to us who did nothing to complain the entire time. The staff was quick to respond, but obviously nothing was going to make them happy. Other than that glitch, the food was delicious, the location is ideal and the staff were friendly and attentive. I’d recommend Zinc!
It was restaurant week and we ordered from the restaurant week menu, so the review is only good for that and not really applicable to the regular menu. That said, I enjoyed, my wife, not so much. We split most of the options. We started with the vichyssoise and tongue pate. She thought the soup was ok. I was disappointed. I enjoyed the pate but she did not. We split the halibut and lamb. Neither were impressed with the halibut (highly recommended). I enjoyed the lamb. My wife didn't care for the sauce and side. Desert was the chocolate soufflé (with thick chocolate sauce on the side, which made it really chocolaty-mmm). My wife didn't love the beneigts(?sp), although I thought they were pretty good. They had 3 dipping sauces. Not bad. As I said, this review is only for restaurant week and that makes it likitrd
Great service, wonderful food, and a delicious chocolate soufflé as a birthday gift.
good food great outdoor patio fun and different our server was really great and knew her stuff she did a great job
I had dined at Zinc so I thought I'd try them out for Restaurant Week. My starter was a dish billed as vicchysoise with some other items but the vicchysoise was only a sauce, not a cup of the cold vicchysoise as I feel it was advertised. My server allowed me to get an onion soup replacement and it was tasty and traditional. My entre was the Reister Farms lamb - cooked to perfection and very tasty in a nice presentation. The wine list has a good variety of mid-priced wines, and my date and I opted for the Guigal Cotes du Rhone and a second glass of red Burgundy. The service was very nice and friendly and the meal was nicely paced.
We all ordered from the restaurant week menu. The French onion soup was the correct temperature with the right amount of cheese and bread. The portion was generous. The lamb was cooked perfectly medium rare as we ordered. Could have had one more chop on the plate. 2 was a bit skimpy for the men. The steak was wonderfully prepared with a delicious shallot brandy peppercorn sauce. The halibut entre was really great too. Lemon soufflé with blueberry sauce was the best. The Madeline’s with salted butterscotch were very good too. Great server and attentive staff. We will be back.
Great birthday dinner during restaurant week! Our waiter Frankie from Jersey was fabulous!!!
The waiter was not attentive. Our meal was prepared late, incorrect, fries were cold. Staff is usually outstanding.
Enjoyable dining in a casual atmosphere. Patio seating cool and very pleasant despite it's being a rather warm evening. Food was well prepared. Our server was attentive and helped with menu recommendations. Wonderful food, great service.
Tried it for Arizona Restaurant Week after about 15 years absence. Kitschy Parisian theme, average food. Probably won’t return; too many other better choices in Scottsdale.
We love this restaurant, normally food it excellent. This time...Flat Iron steak was way overdone and fries were limp. Ate it anyway!
Everything was fabulous. Three of us enjoyed the $44 prix fixe menu. Inspired choices, starting with the wagyu beef tongue paté, vichysiosse, flatiron steak frites, and Alaskan halibut, Manila clams, and octopus. Chocolate and lemon souffles were both magnificent. Affordable and well chosen wine list.
Now this is one of our favorite restaurants in Scottsdale. Upscale food, beautiful atmosphere, and creative selections. Our service was outstanding, be sure to ask for Frankie. He is the best.
Rest week and they were out of most of their dishes. Manager said sorry but they make it up with good service Sent cold soup. Oysters for 2 differentbpeople with different oysters on one plat ordered souffle at beginning of meal. After 2 hours we gave up took check and left. Last time I go there alkern
The food was incredible, everything prepared perfectly, best French onion soup I have ever had. Service was very accommodating and quick to make a recommendation. My only complaint is we went for restaurant week, and even though we were on day 2 of the week they were already out of more than half the menu.
Restaurant week special was very good. Wine was not cool when tasted. Placed in a chiller and it was fine
We have become great fans of Zinc. The food is always excellent but the rack of lamb on the restaurant week menu was over the top wonderful.
Had 'restaurant week' menu. Presentation for the 'Rack of Lamb' dish looked beautiful, however the meat was 40% fat. The timing between courses was off, we felt rushed and I did not even finish my appetizer when the main dish came out. The chef took our plates back to the kitchen to let me finish my first course, but it left bad impression anyway.
Do not order bouillabaisse!
AZ Restaurant Week menu attracted us here for the first time. And we were not disappointed. Food was creative, flavorful and beautifully presented. A minor mistake with our order was resolved quickly and professionally. We ate on the patio where it was quiet and a lovely, Arizona evening.
We will be back again soon.
We were looking forward to starting off AZ Restaurant Week at Zinc Bistro only to be disappointed as soon as we arrived. We had a reservation however, we were running a few minutes late as there is hardly parking near the restaurant and when we finally arrived our hostess told us our table was NOT ready. We stood there waiting as we saw several folks walk in and be seated right away. When we were finally seated we noticed more than half the tables were empty so we were not sure why we were told to wait. Once we were finally seated we had to wait again before we were even served a beverage. Our waitress did do her best to make our experience a good one but we were already so disappointed on how the night started. Not sure we will try it again :(
Loved the food they were extremely accommodations for food allergies.
Great food and terrific service. My water glass never made it half empty. Would love to come again.
Great food! Great service!
Can’t wait to go back again!
We went on for dinner on Mother’s Day. The food was very good. The service was extremely slow.
Had I not been to Zinc many times before I may not go back.
What a great Mother’s Day. Other than my burger being undercooked which they quickly fixed it was a great lunch. Great service.
