Zin Bistro Americana
Zin Bistro Americana is a delightful eatery, located on the lake, which provides for both wonderful views and a very inviting atmosphere for diners. The menu and wine list are sufficient and do generally provide for everyone's taste. The bistro is very welcoming and offers wonderful indoor and outdoor seating, and it has a very welcoming bar. I have eaten at this bistro for both lunch and dinner and my meals have been delicious, attractive, and well proportioned. Table service is good, but not as attentive as expected. It seems that for the entire outdoor tables, only one individual was assigned to take orders. While it is preferable to not have the waitstaff hovering, there is also the desire not to have to waive at one waitstaff person to have drinks refreshed, or desert or other orders taken. However, on the whole, Zin Bistro Americana is a wonderful place to dine.
Typical American fare: steak, chicken, fish. Good wine list, and the view is spectacular. No points for chef artistry or creativity, but the food was prepared well. (asparagus a little mushy). Service was good but not remarkably so. Would return, but held back one star for "it's like a lot of other decent restaurants" vibe.
We have been to ZIn before and I opted to take my husband there for fathers day. It was not noted on the website that the only option that day was a buffet and at that it was $75 per person. There was maybe only 8 other tables at the time and we asked to be seated outside near the railing which they said was for larger parties so we got sat at a wobbly 2 person table. THis was 11;30 and it was not busy we could have easily sat at the larger table and be gone before any other parties arrived. The food was ok, there chicken had too much Thyme and some of the other dishes were not as tasty as if you would just order from the menu. The sausage was pale and unappetising, so were the salads wilted and didn't look fresh. The deserts were ok nothing spectacular. For the price they charged it was very disappointing like they took advantage of the holiday.
I loved dining here before but food was VERY disappointing in Fathers Day. In fact if I could have, I would have left after the first plate.
Fantastic location & atmosphere. Very pricey for a not-so-creative taste. Sauces drowned the fish into everyday storefront Asian food... Should be 15-20% cheaper compared to other places...
The bar scene is distracting from the restaurant- loud, drunk regulars, and it’s like that every time we go. Probably won’t go again.
Food was bland and not creative. The sauce for steak made it taste more like Salisbury Steak. The steak itself tasted almost unseasoned. Ambience and service was the only saving grace. The quality of food will really make me think twice about going again.
We always enjoy their onion rings as appetizers. My scallop and mushroom risotto was outstanding. My husband had chicken fettucini alfredo was the blandest he had ever had.
The meals were fantastic and our server was over the top excellent. Great time had by all.
Great! We will be back!
I enjoyed the experience at Zen with some friends. It as a Monday night and pretty low energy though the ambience was fabulous. This is definitely a place to return and with the weather as it is, a completely relaxing environment.
The starters were good, but the main courses were not. We have enjoyed this restaurant several times in the past, so we were surprised and disappointed.
Beautiful outdoor experience. Food and service were outstanding.
The food was exceptional.
It was lovely
The perfect Anniversary dinner! Great service, food and view!!
Service was off a little but the food was good
Great Music !!!!
We got there early to see if we could try a few of the drinks on the happy hour menu but were told since we were going to be seated at our table that we could not get the happy hour menu drinks. Strange.
All in all the food was good and hot . Waiter was a little over whelmed as he was serving a large party so someone else took our drink orders and checked on us for water.
Very pretty view of the lake.
The view made everything so much better. Customer service was much better than our previous visit. Really good drinks
We had a birthday dinner for Susan and it was wonderful. The service was great (thanks Ryan) and the food was delicious. We even got a free dessert. We were very happy and will be back soon!
I will never go again on a holiday. Ever. I've been multiple times in the past, and wanted to take my amazing mom on Mother's Day for her first time. Getting a reservation was easy about a week in advance. I asked for a table outside. That was accommodated. I then asked to be moved bc there were huge sun shields blocking our lake view (which was the whole point of going somewhere a 30 min drive away). That was accommodated. Our reservation was for 5:30pm. At 6:57pm, I finally had to just ask for some bread. I have never waited 1.5 hrs for the "free" table bread (or meal) in my 50 years of life. Our baked Brie appetizer never appeared. I figured she forgot to put the order in bc she was so busy w other customers. At 7:03pm our dinner arrived. I had ordered the beet salad. Bland and disappointing, and definitely wasn't going to fill me up. But I didn't dare send it back bc I couldn't risk another hour long wait. My mom ordered the cioppino, and enjoyed it, but suggested they provide more than one 3" slice of garlic toast for such a big bowl. I'm a big time dessert eater, and wanted to enjoy one on this special day, but again, I also wanted to be done before midnight. The bill arrived and of course the $17 missing appetizer was on there. So I guess the order had been put in at some point. The bill was revised twice before it was finally correct. There was never an apology abt never delivering the appetizer. A $68 dinner for two that involved a bowl of seafood and a small salad. Oh, and a cup of hot tea. But the lake was nice.
Super Mother’s Day Brunch.
Way too expensive. Out Mother's Day Brunch Buffet for 3 ended up being almost $400...
Overpriced for a bland buffet with burnt chocolate fondue and watery cream brûlée for dessert on Mother’s Day. The food tasted like we were at a children’s school event instead of a fancy restaurant. Never again.
Great Mothers Day Brunch. Omelet, carving, seafood, and dessert stations. Couple that with Mimosas and makes for a happy mom.
We have been customers for some time made reservations in advance arrived for our Friday nite reservation and upon reviewing the menus (large letters at the top
Of the menu stating happy mother’s day ) enquirerd with the server did we have the correct menue and she responded yes. We noted a ten to fifteen increase on all items . We stayed and enjoyed our meal etc. Would have been a good idea if upon making reservations that there would be a special menue indicating a price increase for that weekend .
This is the second time I've been to Zins. The ambience is fantastic as the restaurant is situated on a lake. We started off with cocktails, then ordered a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc to go with our dinner. The charcuterie tray contains several meats, cheeses, crackers and fruits to enjoy. I had the short ribs which came with mashed potatoes, while my husband had the pepper trio. Our friends enjoyed shrimp with pasta and chicken Cordon Bleu, which looked divine. We finished off with the large banana split. Would definitely go back to try more plates!
I had a problem with a groupon voucher. I had called that morning to be sure the groupon would be accepted and there would be no problem, but there was a problem and I was embarassed. I reported the problem to Groupon, but I resent the marring of a special evening. I will both be avoiding restaurant groupons in the future, but also Zin.
Food and service excellent
If you would like to enjoy a lovely quiet meal while looking over a beautiful lake, this is the place to come! My filet mignon salad was terrific and the service was good. The main thing to come for is the patio view. Unfortunately, the restaurant signage, entrance and indoor area looks like it was created in the 80's and has not been redone. That put me off when we first arrived, but by the time we had our meals we had relaxed into the place and enjoyed it after that.
Perfect table outside over the lake. Food was outstanding. Filet and scallops.
Too bad we could not order tapas cuz we are not seated in the “bar” or inside that’s the bummer I didn’t understand that We were seated by the water front n we did enjoy the view
Love the Halibut Tostada! My friend loved the Ahi Salad. View was incredible. Server was great as well.
It was such a lovely evening! The food was amazing & the view was amazing. It was bustling & yet everything came out in a timely manner. Our server was perfect. The live band was having some issues of their own but it was nice that they had live music!
The location was beautiful, the food and service very good. It was a bit cold out and the only thing I would say that made the evening a bit less enjoyable was a that the outdoor heaters kept clicking off and we kept having to have someone relight them. They do look a bit old, so I think that investing in new heaters might be a good idea if they cut out on a regular basis. I loved the chicken cordon blu, it was so good and its not often you see it on a menu anymore - so that was awesome. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered and the desserts didn’t disappoint either. A very nice evening!
We love the food and the friendly service!
Very disappointing experience. As soon as we sat down a waiter rushed over and poured water and reached over the table and spilled it all over 2 people in our party of 4! Oysters were bad. Meal was adequate and plentiful. Very noisy atmosphere. Service people rushing around and was very distracting and not relaxing. Plates clanging and dropping on the floor! Waitress was nice and attentive. I will not return.....
My first time here and I made reservations vis open table with a note about the special occasion of a birthday. No mention made by the waiter. He was very busy and the second we sat down he wanted our drink order. We needed a minute and he was back again and we hadn’t even open the cocktail menu. Again we told him we needed a minute. There he was again in a minute. This time I explained to him that my boyfriend was feeling ill and I would call him back to the table when he was feeling a little better. He seemed perturbed. We asked if we could have our candle lit. He said he didn’t have a match. Needless to say, candle never got lit. 😂
Another great dinner at Zin's Bistro Americana. Beautiful lake view.
This special location has been a favorite for my family and friends for many years now. It is a gem of a spot play sweat on the waterfront where you can enjoy a sunset over a deliciously prepared meal.
