All was excellent, but I missed some kind of background music.
This is a warm and beautiful environment and a very effective staff. And the food is very good. Not to meantion the out-of-this-world pecan pie for dessert!
We came for my Aunts 70th birthday. The service was very slow. The waiter was not able to assist with any recommendations. The food was delicious, but when we finished we needed boxes. They took all of our plates back to the kitchen to box the food. As the busboy did this he stacked the plates on top of each other so the leftover food was hitting the bottom of another plate. Gross in my opinion. I prefer to box my own food so that I can put what I want in the box, ie sauce, etc. when he returned two of the meals were lacking the sauces that were on the plate, that make the meals we had to ask for additional sauce now. Then I had to ask a second time for them to box my mushroom risotto. He took it back, but 20 minutes later and no to go box was to be found. I asked the waiter and he apologized saying it must have been thrown out. He said “ what do you want me to do?” I told him I would like an order to go since I had so much left, they should prepare it for me to go to make it right. Again, 15 minutes goes by and he comes back with a container of “mushroom risotto”. I open it and it is plain white rice. When I confront him about this, he says the kitchen is backed up and it will take 10 minutes for them to make it or I can get a free dessert. Having already waited this long and the rest of my family being annoyed and frustrated, I agreed to the dessert. I kid you not, 30 minutes and fricken nothing has come out! My cousin flags didn’t the waiter to ask for the manager. She comes out and “apologizes “ if you want to call it that. She explains she has been there since 10:20am and it has been like this all day, she says “it’s not your fault, but it’s not our fault either.” ??? I’m pretty sure it is the fault of the restaurant when they don’t provide good service. Then she offers to take 2 meals off the bill after we already paid and give us a gift card. As great as that sounded, we didn’t want any further issues, so we just said we would take the gift card.
Food & service excellent but noise level was terrible. We will not go back on a Saturday night. Also we requested a table outside by the water & were seated inside which was part of the noise issue. Couldn’t hear what people were saying sitting across from me.
We used to live inWestlake Village, and used Zin for special events and parties. This was the first time back since we moved and the old vibe is still there. Excellent service, food and drinks, incomparable atmosphere!! We’ll be back soon!!
good.. good.. good. good.. good. good.. good.. g
The food is fresh and delicious. They have a great variety on their menu. Service was great and i love being at the lake.
The service was amazing and so was the food. We enjoyed the bottomless mimosas which was a plus. The view from the table was magnificent and inviting.I would definitely recommend to everyone.
Very loud with the music playing inside. Service was very very slow for some reason and our waitress didnt seem
Interested in being there. Food was very good, view is great. Sometimes we ha w a great experience here, and sometimes just ok.
Love this restaurant! Food was tasty and prepared perfectly! Even for a crowded, busy Saturday night, everything went well.
While we live in LA, we visited Westlake Village to dine as we met friends we were seeing from Ventura, so it was a good half-way point and location.
Sorry to write this but the food just was terrible. Many items we ordered were over-cooked, or under-cooked, or just plain weird. The falafels were ridiculously over fried, while the pita was limp and soggy. The tuna entree was over-cooked and had to be returned. One of the lamb chops in the appetizer we ordered was so rare it was inedible. And then the weird sweet sauce on the scallops with risotto (maple syrup reduction ???), ruined what could have been a lovely dish. The ceviche (misspelled on the menu as cerviche)had no heat or real flavor (we added salt to just give it some zing). I mean I guess we could have seen this coming when a chef decides it’s a good idea to offer fried lobster on the menu. By contrast we ate at the Water Grill the following day…now that is what a wonderful dining experience should be.
Meanwhile, the food service was extremely slow, our waiter really could have cared less about us, but the view was nice on the patio where we dined.
And don’t expect to see a mask on anyone…not a single staff member wore one inside, nor did patrons. It is a mandate in LA right now again, so that was extremely disappointing to see the management of Zin Bistro ignore.
They overcooked my steak, but nailed it the second time. Great view. This will be a local restaurant when we move in a month we will return.
As always, beautiful setting & vibe
Great outdoor dining
Birthday dinner for my husband, and as usual beautiful setting and dinner tasty!
We had 7:30 reservations and the waitress finally comes over at 7:45 with menus..took forever to get our drinks..when they finally come, the server tells us they close the kitchen at 8:30..perhaps she should have mentioned that when we first sat down..good thing this restaurant is on the water or they would have closed yesterday ago
It's very good food and a wonderful environment. We will be back again and again.
The diverse menu options we’re great. Unique flavor combinations get us thinking about our next visit. Food quality, preparation and flavors were excellent. The Chilean Seabass was delicious, but quite a small portion. We made the reservation on open table and stated it was our anniversary. This was not acknowledged by the restaurant. The waiter was inexperienced and knew nothing about various selections, how they were prepared or specific ingredients.
The place was packed, but the concierge made sure we were kept informed about the availability of our table as specified by our reservation
Excellent food, great service, beautiful location. You can't ask for more.
my wife and i have been here before, and brought out of towners to join us for my birthday and they loved the place and told me i picked the place to celebrate
Best restaurant I have ever been to.
Wonderful atmosphere. Delicious food. Excellent customer service
Ambiance was beautiful, service was horrible. I put in our food order for my child, guest and myself. The waitress waited more than 30 minutes to input our order. I had to ask her about our food and she said she only put in 1 item from our full order. Mind you my child was waiting patiently. In addition to that she did not seem happy to be working. I would suggest a friendlier staff especially if their prices are high.
The only thing we liked was the pizza. The linguine with clams was horrible. The drinks were watered down. Service was slow.
Lovely time always at Zin! Love the peanut butter pastry dessert and espresso martini!
We were there and sit for 40 mins still no get food s or drink . And the blonde waitress is so rude .
Bad experience ever.
The food and ambiance were both excellent, and our server Riki, was amazing!
Zin has always been a gem to me, and I'm so glad we're able to return now more often. Their service is friendly, efficient, and cordial. Their food is superb. Last night we had the filet mignon, which was far beyond any we remember in quality and taste. And the view is so enriching and peaceful on the lake. We look forward to returning soon.
Sat outside with the lake view - gorgeous! Our drinks were delicious. Appetizers were good (lobster bisque, fried pickles, onion rings). Our dinner was good, the portions could have been bigger but overall a great experience! Server was great!
Would not accommodate our simple request for table away from loud DJ and under the canopy. They were not polite not nice at all. Gave us a table away from restaurant and next to 7 heaters. We walked out.
Extremely disappointed. What a waste of a beautiful location!
The waitress was snooty from the start but that's OK. We (5 of us) ordered the charcuterie platter and they brought crackers, no bread. We ordered pasta and an egg dish and they forgot to put in one of our plates. The rest of us were almost finished when the missing dish arrived, no apologies.
They had NO bread. Waitress said they didn't make any and only have bread for dinner. What? We've had bread for brunch here before. So now they sell pasta with sauce and egg dishes and no bread? Why couldn't they go to the nearest supermarket and buy bread for the brunch/lunch shift? The pasta was swimming in sauce, the sauce was not good either, tasted like from a can. Whomever was in charge is a disaster. And the prices are on par with high end restaurants with superb service. So we felt robbed.
We were regulars and have experienced the decline in this place. We will never come again. They have ruined this place.
If your staff is unhappy and unprepared, didn't make the bread, didn't go out and buy some, because it was 4th of July DON'T OPEN.
Great lakeside restaurant with fabulous food, service and views. Extensive menu, all food is really well prepared.
Zin Bistro Americana about the ambience with the opportunity to enjoy a dining experience outside along the water. Upon making my reservation for OpenTable I specified an outside table ONLY as close to the water as possible. While I understand everybody would love to be as close to the water as possible, I was never told that an outside table was not guaranteed when booking my reservation online. I did receive a confirmation text, But again, nothing about an outside table not being promised. We had friends driving quite a distance To come specifically to this restaurant for the experience. When we got there we were told the outside was booked and unless we wanted to wait we would need to sit inside. Obviously that was not an option so we waited which was frustrating considering we had a reservation in place and arrived on time. The table we ended up with, was outside of the main dining patio area amongst an overflow of other tables lining the walkway. While the food and service were both great, I would most definitely encourage the restaurant to be transparent when it comes to booking reservations.
We had a wonderful meal at Zin. The setting is beautiful and relaxing. The food and the staff were extremely helpful and wanted to make sure we had a great experience.
Food was excellent , lovely surroundings . Our server was efficient , but that’s all . Not warm or very enthusiastic . She barely looked at us when she gave us our check . We would go back , but would hope not to get her section.
Entertainment great, food OK (Mahi Mahi overcooked) Service as expected/met expectations. Seated on time.
Waitress looked like she wasn’t having a fun day
