Zin American Bistro Ratings and Reviews
The waiter was rude. We were a party of 8 for my husband’s birthday. The food was OK at best the waiter was slow and left us unattended and that I had to go get him for more drinks and to order a birthday dessert . Earlier in the day when I made reservations I told them it was a special occasion and so I wanted a special table and for everything to go smoothly it did not. As a matter fact four of the eight people that have been there before and liked it it said they would never go back again . The other four will never return. This is indeed sad because we used to love this place and that’s why I chose it for a birthday evening. We were not a drinking party and the only noise we had was when we sang happy birthday we were nondrinkers and non-smokers. now With now with the new season I will know as others will not too frequent your establishment.
Wonderful Menu. In a town where every new restaurant has a menu that feels like more of the same, Zin Bistro's menu is surprising, tasteful, fresh and most importantly, delicious!! The Belgian Beef Stew was remarkable - the beef unbelievably tender, the vegetables were cooked perfectly and caramelized; all simmered down with the Belgian beer for a rich and hearty sauce. To top it off, a side of the BEST pommes frites we've ever tasted. We will be back!!
I am not one to send a + or - reviews however this is an exception....we really like"d" Zin in the past food is always great but the service has become an issue ... in this case (on 11/24) only two of us dining (yes, thanks-giving evening) & and they forgot 1 of our entires (on a fixed priced menu.. how is that possible?) about a 6+ minute wait for the second entire to show...kind of bummer and the waiter response was simply "my fault"
We were there for Thanksgiving. Three people ordered the NY steak; one was full of fat and hard to chew, another was supposed to be medium and came well done. A child ordered the turkey and it was peppercorn turkey which was too spicy for a child. A few of us couldn't get the dessert we wanted because they had run out.
Never again for Thanksgiving dinner. Noisy, loud atmosphere. Overly crowded tables. Butcher paper instead of white table cloths. Mediocre food: turkey breast sliced from a roll, cold mashed potatoes, undercooked carrots and brussel sprouts, and a tablespoon of dressing. Sloppily presented appetizers and desserts. Pre-dinner cocktail? $14 apiece! Wine list? Very expensive especially for single glasses. Service was very efficient with fast presentation and clearing of plates as if they needed to get ready for next party.
Thanksgiving with my wife. First course, I I was not totally happy with my my apple, endive and candied pecans with blue cheese chunks. The savory sour was there but not the sweetness of nuts. Wife and I both went for the turkey and typical sides. ( they had several options but come on, its thanksgiving). All very good! Fog desert I opted for the chocolate mousse and my wife had the sweet potato pie. Both very tasty! Device was commendable and Mindy is a wonderful host!
Have not been to Zin for several years, even though we eat out in PS several times per week. Had some friends in town, so thought we’d try the Zin again. They each ate one half their pasta special and schnitzel entrees respectively. I had the fried chicken- it was the smallest chix breast I have seen. Beef stew okay. We will not try Zin again, too many other good restaurants in Palm Springs.
This was the best meal we've had this stay in Palm Springs. The food is excellent - we both had the sand dabs as our main. C had the wedge salad, I had the wild mushroom soup, and we both had excellent desserts: a Banana Cream Napoleon and a blackberry Zinfandel sorbet. They have a special prix-fixe for $29 before 6 pm, $39 after 6 pm. Great deal!
We dined at Zin after the Palm Springs Pride Parade. We were supposed to be a large group of 25 and unfortunately only 12 of us showed up. We felt terrible missing so many people -- the hostess had carefully set aside several tables for our group... understandably, the hostess was not happy about it, but fortunately those no-show seats filled up with walk-ins shortly after we were seated.
Zin is a good local restaurant with a great location right on Palm Canyon and Arenas Rd.
Forget Lulu's across the street -- it's too crowded and too loud. Zin's two-course Sunday Brunch menu was delicious, our mimosas and bellinis were refilled often, and our server was very attentive. Our server was actually the same guy we'd had the night before at Trio Restaurant nearby, and he even recognized several people in our party!
My husband and I have been going to Zin for years and when we moved to Oregon we still make it back there because; the moules frites are amazing, the wine list is long and extensive,(Right David?😘) and the ambiance is fun! We were there twice and had two terrific servers; David and Christopher.
Fabulous food and wonderful servers who are great personalities and super humor!!
Third time dining here. Food was great. During visits have had buttermilk fried chicken, hangar steak, kobe burger and special of evening which was an ale beef stew. Best frites since leaving New York! Service was fantastic from Aaron. Had him 2 of the 3 times. Will always request him. Noise level is moderate and we were able to have a great conversation. Look forward to going again next week with friends. Try Zin you will enjoy it!
