Zia's - Toledo Ratings and Reviews
Reservation at 7pm for my granddaughters 4th birthday. She wanted spaghetti and meatballs. Finally got our pizza and two salads at 8:15. There were no more than five tables with customers. Waitress was polite and apologetic but never gave a reason except the pizza was not ready. Seems a pizza should cook in 10-15 minutes max not an hour and fifteen minutes! Grand daughter was well behaved for the first half hour but after more than an hour she was tired cranky and tired as one would expect. Just never expected food to take so long with an almost empty restaurant!
We met there, and it was my first time. The couple we were with had been to Zia's before. We arrived a little early, so our table was not quite ready. We went to the bar for a drink, and just after our drinks arrived, our table opened up. I cashed out at the bar (would have rather transferred it to the table), and we were seated. The waitress got our drink orders, and an appetizer. They were busy, but the food arrived in a timely fashion. This is contrary to some of the reviews I've read. Our food was properly prepared, hot, and served in a proper progression without undue delay! Our waitress was VERY attentive, and even had the bartender make a martini that he hadn't made before (I gave him the mixology!) ... We WILL be back to Zia's, we enjoyed the people, atmosphere, and the price was acceptable.
The food was very good. The selection was very diversified, our service was exceptional.
The only thing we didn't care for was the noise level. I don't know if it was because of a couple of large groups, but it was hard to converse among our selves. I am sure we will be back again!!
I understand that Zia's is attached to Real Seafood but it smelled of fish horribly. Its pretty bad when you go home and your clothes, hair and coat smell like fish. Not sure but maybe your ventilation system wasn't working. This especially is bad for people that don't eat fish.
Traveling from Fort Worth to visit family in Ohio and Zia’s is one of our must stop and eat places. Wouldn’t miss a chance to eat at Zia’s. The best Italian food. Remember eating there when tall ships were in Toledo for bicentenniall. Never been let down....food is excellent....Recommend the Tortelloni.
Although I don't get to Toledo as we are from Detroit, Zia's is always our "go to" restaurant when going to Toledo. This dinner was a half-way location for us to meet with our relatives from Napoleon, OH. They had never been there & were pleasantly surprised.
Great experience overall. My parents were in town visiting and wanted to try something new. We first originally went next door to a different restaurant but they didn’t even acknowledged us and we were there for 20 minutes. We ended up leaving and went to Zia’s. The hostess was wonderful and was able to seat us right away. Our server was very knowledgeable and even suggested to bring my son’s dinner out when our soup/salads are out. And the food was amazing! My parents enjoyed it and so did I. We will definitely be back again.
My husband and I had eaten here before, but this by far, was the best experience. The food has always been good, but this time the food and service were superb. Our waiter, Stephan, has to be the best waiter we have ever had anywhere. He had great suggestions for food and treated us like we were royalty. It was my birthday and I ordered the Chicken Marsala. My husband had the Fettucini Alfredo. Both were expertly prepared. Thank you Stephan for making my birthday memorable! Also, eating on the beautiful patio was an added bonus. Gorgeous perfect night!
Waiter urged us to order because it was a busy night. W e told him we would, but didn't want all the food to come at once. 20 minutes later( this is after we waited 20 minutes for cocktails)our appetizer came- good calamari. While enjoying, it our entrees showed up . BEFORE OUR SALADS! Hesitant, we sent them back, with the assurance they would be prepared fresh. They were not. Cesear salads were limp and room temperature. Dinner served reheated, clearly not fresh.
We are constant customers and sadly disappointed.
Aside from disappointing food, our server was distracted and inattentive.
We usually enjoy Zias for special occasions - birthdays, anniversary's etc. This time around though, where we were seated was quite chilly. And the waitress seemed pretty distracted. Asked for lemon for the water, and never got that. Asked for cream for the coffee, and after three requests and half-way through the cup of coffee, we got the cream. She was pleasant - maybe just had too many tables to cover?
Food was dry and overcooked and not very flavorful and took an hour and a half after we were seated to get our main entrees, which was way too long since we had a small child with us. They were not even that busy as there were many empty tables around us. Pizza was dry without hardly any sauce, fish was very overcooked, steak ordered medium well was almost well and very dry and chewy. Specialty drink was flavorless, also.
Next time will go back to Ciao's which is much better, and then hopefully we won't be so disappointed.
