The food was pretty darn good. Our table was up against a bunch of filthy wine bottles. When we mentioned this, we were told that they were just empty bottles. The waitress wasn't around much, so we had to wait a bit if we needed something. The waitress knocked over a drink onto my wife's lap, offered to go get a towel, and apologized. No offer of anything to make up for it.
Excellent food as always
My meal was very good! I loved the cherry mostarda!
Great food , fast service and reasonably priced. I would go back anytime
Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu. The food was delicious. The only complaint was it was too cold where we were sitting and had air constantly blowing on us.
Staff is always wonderful. Food is fabulous. We usually get there a couple of times a year. We drive from about 35 miles away to go for special occasaions. 2 of us or 12 of us it is always a great meal and good times.
I have been going to Zia' for decades. I'm sorry to say, this will be coming to an end.
We normally have celebrated birthdays yearly at Zia's, but decisions made under the new ownership has been for the worse.
My favorite dish of chicken fettuccine alfredo was fair at best, chicken was clearly precooked and reheated, the noodles appearing to be prepared the same or now of poor quality, tasting like cardboard. The food no longer taste like it was freshly made in-house and more like boxed noodles and sauces.
Some of our favorite menu items are no longer available. The menu change reflects the lack of offering items that were previously made in-house and more of the frozen items offered by wholesale restaurant vendors.
The bread is no longer from Zingermans's and taste like it's store bought. The pizza crust appears to be now pre-made and generic round 12", instead of the hand tossed oval.
Desert is no longer provided as a birthday treat (not a big deal as they do still provide the discount on the day of).
The interior has been "cleaned up" but they removed some of the best artifacts they had.
On this occasion, we were also sat in the back near the rear patio entrance on a mildly windy day where the door was constantly opened by servers and customers entering and exiting. Made for a terrible place to sit as the house cooking vents would produce a huge draft on every opening. This was a known issue before and they used to not sit people two feet from the this door when the patio wss opened.
I am very saddened by these changes.
Miss the old style pizza. Don't like the new crust. Please bring back the chopped salad option with the dinners that you had years ago.
The appetiser was very good and the entree, I had the swordfish, was amazing. The service wasn’t to best I’ve experienced but overall was good. Definitely going back again soon.
Birthday. Food was very average. Seem quality of going down hill. Wine was a bit over priced as well. Seems like pricing went up because it is on the water. Service was good. The charcuterie platter was horrible. Presentation not very good and they had one chews an a slab of meat on a board way too small.
Very disappointed a couple of months ago when they took the thin crust pizza off the menu and replaced with a round pizza that isn't that much different than anywhere else. If you miss their thin crust pizza, try Pizza House on Church St in Ann Arbor. Then I had lasagna tonight that I love, still good but they changed the sauce to a standard creamy tomato sauce that you can find any place. The old sauce had whole pieces of tomatoes and a very fresh flavor.. what they served me tonight, I could find as good out of a jar. They seem to be loosing their fresh flavors.. also their bread basket bread is not anywhere as good as it use to be, looked to be sliced up thick crust pizza crust.. I always look forward to their great bread they use to have.. I hope as I try other dishes I love, they haven't down graded the flavors in them too. When I pay for a premium dinner, I expect fresh flavors... not something I would find at a fast food chain restaurants.
As usual, Zia's on Mother's Day was outstanding. The dining room was full, but there was not an excessively long wait for our food and the meal was nicely paced. The food was delicious and the dessert even more so. We all enjoyed our dining experience.
It was a combination of Mother's Day and a birthday. Food prepared at table was very good. Overall a very nice meal and presentation.
We came in for my best friend’s birthday and she was not disappointed, nor were any of us. Very good meal!
We live in Michigan but when we are in Toledo we always choose Zia’s for a nice sit down dinner. We love the view outside on the waterfront.
We were there for my husbands birthday, we were seated immediately but the service was extremely slow. Our waitress was super sweet, but I think she must have had tables in another room. We hardly saw her. My husbands pizza was under cooked. We did not mention the pizza due to the slow service and we were getting half off due to his birthday..
We came as a large group. We started at the bar. The service was great at both.
Our waiter made sure we were all taken care of and the food was fabulous
A little pricey but well worth it.
This is the first time that I have something negative to say about Zia's. We waited FOREVER for our food. We have been there many times and brought another couple with us this time - they were looking forward to it because we always rave. We waited so long...and ate so much bread...that we weren't very hungry by the time our meals came. Disappointing!
First time dining there with my father. It was very good. Our waiter Benjamin did an outstanding job. All food that we ordered was very good. We will be back again!
Great swordfish, & my husband liked his beef dish, that he went out on a whim to try, very much...food was hot & waitress was very nice too.
The food is always amazing but every time the service is greatly lacking. So slow, I should not sit for 5 minutes before even being greeted by my server. She was very sweet and knowledgeable but the service is always so slow! Do you need more servers? Are they serving too many tables?
Great food and wait staff was friendly. Our waiter gave us the history of the restaurant as well as places to see on our visit.
Always great, no complaints.
A good go to restaurant
I am a long time patron to Zia's. Very disappointed with the new menu. Out of all the times I have gone to Zia's with my wife, I always order your pork chops with the balsamic drizzle. Sadly, it has been removed from the menu along with several of my wife's favorite selections. Please, consider putting some of these back into the menu.
Amazing service, amazing food! Get table side! They make it right in front of you! It's beautiful inside I took my mom for her birthday and she loved it it was a great meal and experience!
The food waa very good. Good portions and friendly staff. Loved the birthday discount. If the meal I had ordered was correct it would have been a perfect experience. I ate it anyways and it was good. The waitress assured me it was Bolognese sauce but it was not. Being Italian I know this but was so hungry I ate it and was pleased. Will be back for the Bolognese!
My husband and I went here with friends we hadn't seen for a long time. We were greeted, seated and attended to by a great waitress. The food was just delicious! The wine was a bit pricey, but very good. Our server allowed us to start slow and linger long. We really appreciated that! We have told our friends what a great time we had and what wonderful food we enjoyed.
We had a wonderful experience for my husbands birthday. The staff were great and the food excellent.
Excellent food and service. Only one problem--they got rid of the minestrone--was my wife's favorite here.
We are always happy with our dining experience at Zia's. This visit was no different!
We've gone to Zia's for our birthdays exclusively for over a decade. We've had family surprise party's there even. They've changed a lot in the past 10 years and not for the better. This past visit will be our last unfortunately.
1) They used to offer free food to the birthday person plus a free dessert. This was in the form of 50% off the bill for a party of 2, and a free dessert. Birthdays no longer mean free desserts. You still get half off a meal for 2 (or 1/3 off a table of 3, etc) but you pay for part of the dessert. Bummer. Also, I'm not sure if it was policy or our server, but we didn't get the birthday candles they used to do either. Not a big deal, just noticed it.
2) Service was not great. Our salads were brought out literally 30 seconds before our meals. We had to send the food back to be kept warm. Different servers delivered each course but apparently they didn't coordinate well. I had to stir my tea with a fork handle... no spoons or straws were offered.
3) The bread has changed to a home-made focaccia which is really good, but the Chicken Parm has changed. We used to love this and got it regularly. A couple of visits ago the 4 of us actually all ordered it and all of us felt it was bland and something was off. We never send food back, but did talk to the server and she brought the manager over. They reduced the bill for a couple of them. The next visit was good again, this past one was bad again.
4) The Chicken Parm was $11.95, then $13.95, now $20.95. Deal or not, 50% off is less attractive when prices are doubled in 10 years.
5) The major reason we kept going despite nearly doubling the prices and food being "ok" was for the chocolate mousse dessert. It was heavenly! We were informed this last visit they have discontinued that.
So with "ok" food, higher prices, and removal of our favorite dessert, and a drop is the service level we saw in the past, sadly we are moving on for special occasions. It's not worth the price anymore.
We ordered steak that had to be sent back twice but the service handled it very well and we were not disappointed. We will definitely come again
My wife had an excellent meal for her birthday. Both of us are pleased with the staff and management, we were suprised to get a wonderful birthday discount at the end of our meal.
We like Zia's during the year and RWeek was great as well. Nice portions and selection. It was Monday so it was quiet. Nice variety on menu.
Food was very disappointing for the price. Chicken Piccata had no taste (very bland) mashed potatoes were very dry and pasta was also bland.
Food was excellent service was great
Reservation at 7pm for my granddaughters 4th birthday. She wanted spaghetti and meatballs. Finally got our pizza and two salads at 8:15. There were no more than five tables with customers. Waitress was polite and apologetic but never gave a reason except the pizza was not ready. Seems a pizza should cook in 10-15 minutes max not an hour and fifteen minutes! Grand daughter was well behaved for the first half hour but after more than an hour she was tired cranky and tired as one would expect. Just never expected food to take so long with an almost empty restaurant!
Waited over an hour for our food, even waited a long time for drink refills (wine, martini ect..) it took over a half hour to get our salads before the main entrees. We were with 3 couples it was so frustrating, one of the couples just left.
Everything was wonderful...our granddaughter has never been and loved having a window seat. service was a little slow, we had plenty of time that evening so it didn't impact our schedule Will certainly come back!
We met there, and it was my first time. The couple we were with had been to Zia's before. We arrived a little early, so our table was not quite ready. We went to the bar for a drink, and just after our drinks arrived, our table opened up. I cashed out at the bar (would have rather transferred it to the table), and we were seated. The waitress got our drink orders, and an appetizer. They were busy, but the food arrived in a timely fashion. This is contrary to some of the reviews I've read. Our food was properly prepared, hot, and served in a proper progression without undue delay! Our waitress was VERY attentive, and even had the bartender make a martini that he hadn't made before (I gave him the mixology!) ... We WILL be back to Zia's, we enjoyed the people, atmosphere, and the price was acceptable.
