I was visiting my friend in Philly and we came across this gem while we were getting ice-cream from across the street. We decided to have dinner there that night. I’m so glad we did. Food was amazing! The olive oil & garlic dip was great for the bread. We had the grilled calamari, Cesar salad (with real Cesar dressing that you can taste the anchovies in it), and grilled whole branzino. Chef came by to chat with his patrons. Service was also great! I will definitely go back!
Fabulous chef allowed modifications to menu customization of my meal just fabulous and delicious
We had made reservations and were seated almost immediately. 20 minutes went by without a single person acknowledging our table, no water, no greeting, nothing. We approached the hostess that sat us and she apologized profusely and said she’ll handle it. Another 10 minutes went by before someone came to the table, barely even acknowledging the situation. However, despite all that, the rest of the experience was incredible. The food and drinks were immaculate. I’m sure it was due to a busy Saturday night post Covid. I would definitely give this place a second chance.
Outside seating. Great main courses, excellent mussels. Mediterrean horduerve platter was NOT good. No diversity- looked and tasted like 3 creams cheese wads not good. Greek salad had too much dressing. Lamb excellent. Caesar excellent.
I am in town for a little mini vacation - my first trip away from home since the pandemic! Do some sightseeing, visit family...and, at the recommendation of a friend, I booked a reservation for Zestys.
A peaceful train ride from City Center to Manayunk - a picturesque Philly suburb about 6 miles west of downtown Philly - and not even a 5 minute walk from the station to the restaurant.
I was greeted outside by Andrew, one of the servers, who promptly seated me indoors at a booth by a cute fish tank. The atmosphere was very relaxing and relatively quiet. Music played softly on the sound system, and the restaurant was roughly at 30-40% capacity. I felt quite safe - safety protocols are being followed at this establishment!
KUDOS to the staff and management for being so attentive and welcoming!
I ordered a VERY delicious Prosecco Punch (imagine if sangria were made with Prosecco instead of red wine. Exactly!), and the baby octopus appetizer.
Baby Octopus is a MUST HAVE! It was sliced in rounds, making it much easier to enjoy - and not quite sure if it’s a vinaigrette sauce it’s prepared in, but it was wonderful. Chickpeas, diced onions and peppers...and I noticed just a touch of heat (spice) in the aftertaste on my palate. LOVED it!
For the entree, I ordered the baby lamb chops and asked to substitute the side for orzo - another home run! Cooked exactly as requested (med well), tender, juicy, just the right touch of seasoning, and the orzo was wonderfully al dente and I felt the fragrance of the seasonings and spices in my mouth as I savored every morsel!
Baklava for dessert - made from scratch, warm and melt in your mouth goodness. I feasted like a queen! Without a doubt, I will be back. Hopefully soon. :)
On Mother’s Day we had dinner at Zesty’s. The wait for our meals was a bit longer than expected, but when the food came it was worth it. The food was well presented and looked delicious even before we tasted it. After dinner we had desserts and everyone was satisfied with theirs. After we left, my wife realized that she had forgotten her boxed up salmon. We called and it was still there at the bar, so we drove back there to pick it up.
Great place to eat. All the food, service, and experience were great.
Amazing as always! Best Bronzino in The Philadelphia region and quite honestly the best I have ever had.
And, we love other items on the menu like the taramosalata. Just amazing. Can’t wait to go back!
Server was extremely friendly and kind, and the food was delicious
We ate outdoors. The rest of my party loved their food! Our waitresses were great!
First and foremost the food is wonderful . my order came out as I asked .. I had the Lamb Kabobs .. perfect temperature and flavor was great !!!
Andrew was our server and his attention ,dispostion and his knowledge of the menu were first rate.. he is definitely an asset to the restaurant... ask for him if he's available
We found Zesty's via Open Table and are glad we did. The food was fresh, delicious and moderately portioned. We're planning on returning soon. Highly recommend this restaurant.
lovely family owned restaurant. Good food, full bar
Second visit because the first was awesome, the potatoes and cauliflower with my filet mignon was not hot it still tasted good and filet was Tender!
Amber served us today & she was kind, professional and very knowledgeable about the menu. Service was exceptional. Thank you Amber!!
The food was amazing & so was the staff including those who was not directly servicing our table.
I would recommend the extra jumbo shrimps, the crab cakes, the Ceasar salad and my brother’s lamb looked extremely tasty! I can attest to that because his plate was empty within 10 minutes 😀
My husband enjoyed his birthday dinner at Zesty’s, so I would like to say “Thank you”
Zesty's checked all of the boxes for our family dinner. With three grown boys and two parents we were well fed and in good hands with Amber our server. She knew her menu and drinks and where to get the best picture! We will definitely remember our meal together and come back to eat at Zesty's.
Special Dinner with my kids for my wife's 70th so the stakes were high.
Always a good experience at Zesty’s. Food is fresh and delicious and the staff are helpful and very friendly. This is our weekly Friday night go-to spot.
Due to CV-19, restaurant was quiet. However, our server was energetic and very helpful and timely. All 3 of us ordered fresh fish dishes which were tasty but a bit lukewarm. Greek salad was amazing. Will definately go back again.
Zesty was so refreshing. The staff was polite and friendly and the owner came out from kitchen to talk to us and welcome us. The food was delicious! We had the salmon tartar and the octopus! Best octopus I’ve ever had. We had crab cakes for the entree and they were divine! Will return and this is my new favorite place for fish seafood.
We enjoyed ourselves, our server was great however we were too close to the piano player to hear our conversations. The food was great.
We came to Zesty's as a last minute option when our original date night fell through. Expectations were low, as the kitschy and haphazardly decorated space was pretty sparse on a Saturday night at 8pm, but as the food began to come out we were pleasantly surprised. It was delicious! Grilled octopus was tender and well seasoned, our soups were tasty and chock full of meat, spanikopita was filled with fresh spinach and soft feta but a little too much dill, and the shrimp with spinach rice was amazing. Our server was pleasant and extremely knowledgeable, an acoustic duo played traditional Greek songs, and the owner (who was also the chef) came to our table to say hi . All in all a great experience and a place that we will definitely return to.
Excellent Greek classic dishes. Pleasant atmosphere. Good choice for dinner in Manayunk.
Wine selection very limited. Suggest bringing your own and paying corkage.
This chef knows how to please one’s palate. I started off with the soup of the day, lamb, lentils and vegetables. Then moussaka with meat which was YUMMY followed by lamb with ozro. It was very filling. Definitely will go back to try more dishes. Con was the menu on open table is very outdated so a lot of the dishes I was hoping to eat where not available. I really hope the lamb soup becomes a regular option to order!
Food was delicious. Mussels and sauce were amazing and so were the crab cakes. Service was good. Chef came out and asked if everything was ok. That's a nice touch. Parking is a bit challenging. Other than that great experience.
Authentic Greek food. Exquisite and elegant dining! Excellent services! Perfect enthronement! Everything is great about this place. So glad that this gem is here to stay with us. 🥰
Food was great. Best salmon I've had in a long time!!
It was our first experience at Zesty’s —New Years Eve. Outstanding! My spouse is Greek so he is very picky about Greek food, but all he did was rave! The whole fish Red Snapper for 2 was phenomenal! Our waitress chose my wine and it was perfect. Spouse had a cocktail (mule) that he loved and we finished the night with the flourless chocolate espresso cake—wow! Live music, fun fish tanks to look at, but the food is the experience. The owner came out a few times to check on everyone—what a hard working man!
We LOVED it and will be back!!
Stopped in for quick meal - hummus- the hummus was very good - but was only served with pita - I vaguely remember it being served with veggies previously. Then we had the Greek salad - perfect mix of feta, olives, egg etc - very good. Our entree was the branzino - fish had a great flavor - just a little over done. For dessert we had the chocolate truffle- awesome.
My sister and our husbands went to celebrate our December Birthdays at Zesty's. My husband and I had been to Zesty's over the summer and had a delicious meal and loved the atmosphere. The live piano music was wonderful and added so much to the relaxed dining experience. Having Celiac, I needed a Gluten Free meal and the waiter and kitchen were very attentive to this important detail. I had a shrimp dish, my husband a veal dish and my sister a Moussaka dish. The wine was delicious, the plates were beautifully presented and the frozen Limocello dessert was awesome. I didn't really want to share it, but I did. The giant fish tanks and church pew seating add to the eclectic ambiance. We will certainly be back soon!!
Service was great, food was okay. We went on a Sunday night, and restaurant was empty. We sat next to window, and we were freezing! Probably would not go back
Fabulous food and attentive service. Will definitely keep going back for more.
There was a live band and belly dancer when we went which was super fun but also hard to hear my friends talking a bit. Food was decent. They ran out of the vegetarian moussaka that we really wanted to try but the spanakopita and hummus platter were really good!
I can't think of any way in which the experience could have been better. The restaurant is spacious and the tables are separated well enough to ensure privacy, and it was quiet enough that we could speak in conversational tones, rather than having to shout above the din as at many other restaurants.
The decor is tasteful, warm and comfortable. It includes several large aquaria filled with a wide variety of interesting fish (for viewing, not eating). This is supplemented by a bed of ice near the door on which are displayed the day's fresh whole fish (for eating), which vary based on market availability.
The service was impeccable, and since our son has worked in the food industry as a waiter and bartender for almost 20 years we've been well schooled in what to look for in a good server. Our server, Angelika was courteous and efficient, but also warm and charming, chatting with us for a surprisingly long time.
The owner, Athanasios (Tom) Konidaris, also chatted with us at length on two separate visits to our table, and it's obvious from talking with him why the atmosphere at Zesty's is so warm and friendly. To us, meeting and chatting with the staff at a restaurant makes dining out more like dining at a friend's.
Last, but not least -- the food. We had mussels and spanakopita as starters, passing reluctantly on the several delightful-sounding soups in the interest of not overdoing it; both were excellent, the mussels so good that I sheepishly asked if we could take home the remaining sauce (we did).
I had the Chilean Sea Bass (farmed), and my wife the Branzino, one of the whole fresh fish of the day. I'm running out of space, so I'll just say that both were superb. For dessert we split a "Flute Limoncello," swirled gelato and limoncello syrup, and Baklava Cheesecake; again, both were superb, the cheesecake decadently so.
This was not my first visit to Zesty's; it was my wife's, and we're both looking forward with 'bated breath to our next.
γεια σου (Gia'sou)
Service, ambiance was great. Had reservations, was seated right away. Our waiter was absolutely great! The food was to die for. Woud defiently recommend to my famiiy and friends.
Impeccable service start to finish. Excellent spinach phyllo. Filling enough for a meal with the egg soup. Greek musicians enhanced the ambiance. Wonderful night out.
We hadn’t been to Zesty’s for a while. The meal was delicious and Tom the chef owner was as charming as ever.
