The food is interesting but very expensive. A good place to eat before an evening event.
Some good dishes - Sephardi fries were delicious. Others were good but not amazing, and the service was slow even though it wasn’t busy. Still a nice place for a midweek dinner.
Lovely Sunday roast. I would recommend to all. Especially great for kids, with lots of room and natural light.
Food was very average. Having heard good reviews, we were disappointed.
Excellent food, good wine list, small but nice beer selection. My wife had the chicken with date molasses, almonds and laffa, while I had the braised lamb with mint sauce--and they were both great. For starters, we shared a really smokey babaganoush and corn fritters with turmeric sauce, and had the toffee pudding with date gelato for dessert. Altogether, it was a superb meal.
Excellent starter (corn fritters) and main (chicken with pomegranate), plus an outstanding side of "Sephardi Fries" - tangy, crispy roast potatoes. The staff, as always, were polite, patient and prompt. It's a relaxed atmosphere, cosily tucked away from the JW3 café area.
Avoid the restaurant and go to the cafe instead. Kids meals arrived quickly and they were happy but our meal took over 40mins and when it arrived the roast beef/ potatoes were tasteless, over-cooked and overpriced. Sweet corn fritters/ babaganoush starters were tasty (stale shop bought type pittas though...) but it was a whole big palava ordering outside of the set menu. Unless need to go kosher etc would avoid.
Attentive staff, delicious food which was well presented. Some vegetarian choices too. There was a relaxed atmosphere and staff were helpful to hurry food for our guest who needed to catch a plane!
The rest of us felt unhurried and unrushed.
We had an amazing meal for Sunday lunch - the roast beef and Yorkshire pudding was excellent! A truly fantastic kosher roast.
It's kosher, it's ambitious, they always provide 'interesting' food, along lines of Yotan Ottolenghi - but by and large usually slightly disappointing. This time, sorry to say, it was cold, especially down our end of the restaurant (they said they were having trouble with the heating) and we left, and ate at Tish in Belsize Park.
Amazing food. Love the sharing plates. Not cheap, but well worth it. Was sitting behind Sir Trevor McDonald...If it's good enough for him, then it's good enough for me!!
Our meals didn’t come at the same time so most of us had finished by the time the full party had received their meals ...
The starters were exceptional.
My fish was a bit dry.
Nice place and nice atmosphere.
I was surprised that when I asked for an expresso I was told I could pay for it as part of the restaurant bill but I had to collect it myself from the café, 10 ysrds away from the restaurant.
I thought the waiter could have done this and serve the coffee at our table as in any other restaurant.
Fantastic food and service. An all-round terrific experience, and would highly recommend Zest.
Friendly warm atmosphere delightful food
I took a client for lunch who had never been to JW3 before and I believe he was pleasantly surprised. It was a very enjoyable lunch.
very cold, music (Sinatra on the loop?) too loud, food barely tepid, overpriced
Pleasant and tasty snacks - but totally tasteless dessert. They said they did not do espresso coffee, though the bar to which the restaurant is attached (and with which they surely share a kitchen) listed espresso. We were also told they had no coffee sweeteners: only as we were leavng did we see a bowl of them on another table!
Food was ok, but not great. We were there on Christmas Day, when most places were closed, so they charged a £5 additional fee per person PLUS a service fee. This, plus high prices to start, made it quite an expensive dinner. The cauliflower with hummus was great. Sweet corn fritters were nice. Aubergine fritters were meh, just kind of gooey and fried. Salt beef was tough. All in all, not a great value for money. At half the price this review would have been much more positive.
Five of us enjoyed all the food ordered. Speedy service & lovely waiting staff. Would definitely go again.
On the occasions that I have visited Zest I have enjoyed the ambience and the food choice.
The service is good and I was able to hold conversations with friends and not be disturbed by noise!
My only request is that a coat stand or hooks should be provided on entry. It was a cold day last Monday and we had to drag our coats and scarves over chairs.
Delicious food. Lovely service. Can't wait to revisit.
Enjoyed a very nice business lunch. Friendly attentive but not over attentive service.
Very nice surroundings. Small but very tasty menu. Mainly made up of sharing plates. Definitely plan to return.
My friends and I reserved a table here for the Taste of Ukraine festival, excited to sample some Slavic. The aubergine salad was passing, but the other dishes were bland and overcooked...and yet only lukewarm. Extremely dry chicken dishes and desserts. I usually look for the silver lining in a mediocre restaurant meal, but this was so, so bad. We understood that £2 from each meal would be donated to World Jewish Relief, so I initially thought the inflated prices (£12 for a plate of 3 small dumplings when I was expecting a main, for example) reflected the charitable donation. We tried to use this same justification for the poor quality food...at least it was for charity. But then we saw that an additional £2 per person was added to our bill on top of the exorbitant prices. Thankfully, there was a decent house red to numb the pain. Don't eat here, man.
It was a special promotion of Ukraine food promoted by WJR to high light th plight of people living in poverty there. A potion of the bill went to the charity
I wasn’t sure what Ukraine food was .... it was delicious. The beef was cooked perfectly, my husband was keen on the chicken Kiev which was very tasteful. We went a group of 4 and shared.
We were well looked after by the staff.
I know they were having a special Ukraine Food season but it was awful. Overpriced, cold food. The borscht didn’t taste of beetroot. Most of it was tasteless. The waitress disn’t know what the food was. Some of the plates cane without serving sooons
An awful meal. Been to Zest before and was looking forward to a good vegetarian meal.
This is the second time we’ve been to a soecial food season ( Syrian last time which was even worse)
Fab supper great sharing dishes with super taste combinations. Serving staff really enjoyed making our evening a pleasure.
Food was very tasty, innovative and reasonably priced.
Portions were fine. A very enjoyable eating experience.
Excellent food and very good service. This was a 95th birthday celebration and the staff were very pleasant, kind and sensitive.
I love the food here. It's fresh, nicely presented, and delicious. Plus, if you time it correctly, you can go to the JW3 cinema afterwards and it makes for a great evening.
Delicious food & good options for vegetarians as well as omnivores
Excellent restaurant. Creative food. A step above other kosher restaurants.
Very nice presentation of the food.
Delicious food, really of the highest order. Best meal I have had for a very long time. Thoroughly recommend the chicken and beef dishes in particular. Service and ambience/ layout of restaurant excellent too. Obviously not cheap given quality Kosher meat but I think worth it.
Beautiful interesting menu choices. Attentive staff. Reasonable prices.
We ordered braised lamb with potatoes and salad. Excellent dish. Lamb soft and succulent, potatoes crisp, salad with a light dressing - simple and tasty; not overdone with spices or sauces, just natural flavours.
Wine was less impressive (Duc du France and Gaillard... ).
Good prompt service (much improvement since 3-2 years ago, which is why I stopped going then).
Aubergine appetiser was great in itself, but was served with white pita bread (I would have preferred artisan or whole wheat sourdough).
Food was fantastic, interesting and tasty. We ordered a number of dishes and shared which meant we got to try an array of great dishes. The service was excellent and all in all the meal was great value for money. Looking forward to coming back again
Really enjoyed meal with husband
The Waiter ( from Donegal ) Ryan ? Made the evening. Friendly helpful excellent service excellent advice
Post cinema meal with a friend ( not Jewish). It was great to take her for an unusual and delicious meal which for me was Kosher and meaty and for her was exotic and full of fantastic vegetables. Service very friendly and energetic but a bit erratic. I will definitely return.
