I was actually surprised that I was so underwhelmed. I made a reservation but was not given reservation seating. I was seated in the middle of the restaurant with no view. The website said I picked the last of two reservations and when I arrived the place was far from crowded, which is why I couldn't understand my seating placement. My waitress took a very long time to come over to us, then Our order took a very long time to arrive. The food was just ok, nothing spectacular. My waitress was not very attentive and did not refill my water until I had finished my meal, nor did she check on us. On top of that, I had to wait a while for my check to arrive. I must say I expected more especially given the reputation of the Hyatt Hotel in which the restaurant was located.
My friend and I went for dinner on a Friday night. We've been going in December every year after an annual event, and for a few years the bar area was perfect. Then there were several years of a swim meet convention staying in the hotel on that night which meant for some reason the bar area was overrun with parents and teenagers (?!). I decided to avoid that problem by making dinner reservations, hoping to be seated away from the bar area. To my surprise, when we arrived, the place was quiet, no marauding teenagers (sorry, I really don't have anything against teenagers except when they are roaming around a bar area that's supposed to be quiet). Anyhoo, we were delighted to be seated at a tall table in the bar area, next to a couple who were reading (quiet!). I had a burger and fries, and my friend had the sliders. Both done to perfection. Our drinks came quickly and our server was super -- friendly, accommodating when we wanted to move away from a noisy quartet, checking on us just frequently enough. We had a lovely evening, able to talk without distraction. When it's like that Zephyr is really the perfect place for an evening out --- easy to get to by car, relaxing atmosphere, complimentary validated parking, good food, and a beautiful view of the Charles River.
I ordered mussels but although on the menu, they were not available. I then ordered the meatless burger. without bun. My companion had ordered the hamburger without bun. Both were overcooked and dry. the asparagus, a side dish, were overcooked.
However, the martini was excellent and my companion had nothing but praise for his vermouth on the rocks.
The service was fine.
Great experience and great views of Boston and The Charles.
If you are staying at the Hyatt and need a convenient location, Zephyr is much better than most hotel-based restaurants. The food was average, service/ambiance great, party next to us overly loud - just unfortunate for us.
Very much enjoyed our 25th Wedding Anniversary dinner.
Great food and ambiance
Great experience and great food.
Great place to meet friends for a drink or dinner. Can't beat the view of the Charles River and Boston.
This was a staycation for our anniversary as we are from Boston. I checked the menu online and saw that they had a nice selection of food, only to arrive to find that the menu had changed about a month ago and hadn’t been updated online. Our extra dirty martini was good. Our waitress Patty was very attentive to the point it felt like we were being rushed. Couldn’t figure out why because the restaurant was practically empty. Their charcuterie board was small and loaded with deli meat sliced thick from the local grocery store along with a ton of nuts and craisins that kept falling on the table. The Brie, goat cheese and blue cheese were ok, but cold. Not the charcuterie that I’m used to.
I ordered the shrimp and grits special. Flavor was good but the texture of the grits was too thick. Husband ordered the boneless ribeye, cooked medium, that was suggested by the manager. It was very dry. He was actually sawing it with his steak knife. He sent it back and didn’t get anything else. Patty our waitress just said “Oh, you don’t like it?” We explained why. She just nodded her head and took the plate. She took the charge for the steak off the bill and we paid with a credit card as opposed to charging it to our room.
We went back the next morning for breakfast. Breakfast buffet and everything on the menu is overpriced. Husband got the buffet. I got three blueberry pancakes for $15 and a side of sausage for $5.00. Pancakes were heavy even more so because they put cornmeal in their batter. After a few bites I found that they weren’t fully cooked. Fork was full of batter. I sent it back and was ready to go. Manager came and took care of the whole check.
We went to check out of the hotel to find that Patty, our waitress from the previous night, charged the dinner to our room as well as our credit card. Luckily I still had the receipt.
We will not return and don’t recommend this restaurant!!
Overall it was a great experience
Zephyr on the Charles is where I held my son's rehearsal dinner before he was married at the Hyatt! Chef Nick took excellent care of my party of 23 people and the food he prepared was outstanding, so much that my husband and I had to come back by ourselves and have the clam chowder and lobster sliders! The best part of this dinner was that the food was just as good as the night of the rehearsal dinner, but we were alone and was able to take in the ambiance of the outdoor dining and relive the moment! Thank you Hyatt/Zephyr for an enjoyable second dinner!
My husband and I enjoyed a lovely lunch with a great view of the Charles River. Delicious and fresh Cobb Salad for me and the Shrimp Po Boy for my husband - YUMMY! I may have tried one of his french fries too! Good beverages and excellent service from front desk to our server. Recommend!
Very nice views of Charles River. The swordfish was good but the side asparagus was too salty.
The view was very lovely and they offered us outdoor dining first knowing the weather was very nice and cool and lovely
The hostess and all staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. The setting was fine for Father’s Da lunch.
It was our 23rd anniversary that atmosphere on outside deck was great
The waitress was new. I have been there many times and never seen her.
She did not ask us how our meal was and the worst thing was that she
reached over the table (and me!) when she was clearing my friend's
It was not busy at all, so there was no need for this behavior.
The F/B team did a great job and our entire party of 9 enjoyed the food, service and view of the river!!
Our waiter was wonderful and the food was phenomenal!
The food is consistently good and the service is consistently friendly. Good value for your dining dollar, and you can't beat the view!
We've stayed at the Hyatt Regency Cambridge many times but hadn't ever had dinner there, thinking that Zephyr was just another hotel restaurant and there were better choices elsewhere in the area.
We were very pleasantly surprised. The food, especially the chicken, was at least as good as could be found anywhere else, the service was very attentive and the view over the Charles River very nice to look at. We're definitely going to return when we're next in the area.
A wonderfully quiet place to enjoy the food, the wine and conversation. Excellent service and very good food.
From the way it was presented I thought this was going to be a lot nicer. It was just the hotel restaurant at the Hyatt hotel. One guy was walking around in his pajamas. View of the river was more like the view of the highway with the river in the background. Food was actually really good , but service and ambiance was disappointing. The chef should be someplace better. Too many better choices, I would not go out of my way to go here again.
Awesome! Food was great, service was exceptional and the ambience was spectacular! Wonderful Thanksgiving Day meal with friends and family!!!

We sat for ten minutes and watched staff walk by us multiple times without acknowledging us. We finally left without even getting a water.
The view was beautiful. I would have loved to sit outside but it was too windy. The waitress was friendly and accommodating. The food was good and I liked that they had small plates we could share.
We needed to eat near the Hyatt and were pleasantly surprised at the quality and service at the Zephyr. Their servers are very professional, friendly and accommodating. The food was exactly what we were looking for for a late dinner after arriving at the hotel late. We never felt rushed though the place was pretty busy. The view of the Charles and the Boston skyline is outstanding. Outdoor eating in such a spectacular setting is a real treat.
We arrived late so we ended up in the lobby restaurant. Really boring venue in a tired hotel, but the food was surprisingly good nearly everything we ordered.
Perfect spot for a business meeting — quiet, great views of the city and the Charles, and a casual, not-rushed ambience along with high-quality food selections.
Dishes were too salty and unhealthy. Cooks should taste their dishes themselves to check how salty they are.
The waiters were great. They saw to it that we were satisfied with our meal.
Excellent food! Awesome shrimp and grits! Lovely views!
We went here for dinner following my granddaughter’s graduation at BU. In making the reservations we noted it was a special occasion. We were given a wonderful table by the window with a great view of the Charles River and Boston skyline. The service was excellent. The food was very good. Couldn’t have asked for a better evening. Thank you Zephyr staff.
great view of the Charles river and Boston
unfortunately food was mediocre
We enjoyed the Mother's Day brunch here. The service was extremely attentive and friendly. The food was good, too. The desserts were much better than previous years - we come almost every year and this year was the best. The duo playing acoustic music was fun - they did a lot of favorite cover songs but they didn't play so loudly that we couldn't enjoy conversation.
Went for Easter brunch. It was just okay. The live music/ playlist was just weird considering the holiday scene.
Great staff! Attentive, positive and they know their menu.
