Zephyr Grill and Bar
Food tasted great, service was not. Took almost 40 minutes for soup and salad apps. Hungry child with us had to wait, they were holding his food. Manager comp’d it, but still.
Excellent as always! Not my first visit, certainly not my last as well.
Pleasant patio dining and good food. Could expand the Sunday brunch selections slightly. Good service but not over the top.
I would recommend Zephyr's Grill to a friend but not based on last experience. Typically, the service is very good as is the food; however this past Saturday did not measure up to past experiences. First of all, the service was poor. After ordering, the salads arrived quickly but then there was an extremely long wait for the main course. The restaurant was not busy so I am not sure why the delay. My meal, the Porterhouse Pork Chop was not good at all. It was tough and overcooked. It was actually the worst pork chop I have ever had. When we finished, it was rather late. The waitress asked if we wanted a cup of coffee and we both said yes. She then said she may need to make a new pot but that it would only take two minutes. I specifically told her that if she had to make a new pot then we did not want the coffee. 10 minutes later, the coffee arrived. She had ignored my comments as she said, I hope this didn't take too long. It is a new pot of coffee and it is piping hot. So, I would probably return due to my prior positive experiences; however, I would not order the Pork Chop and hopefully, I would not get the same waitress.
I have eaten at Zephyr many times over the years and it has always been a top-notch. This visit was a bit disappointing. While the food was not up to the standards I expected, the service was excellent.
We started wiht the crab-stuffed tater tots. They looked great when they arrived, but they seemed to be deep-fried mashed potatoes with an almost undetectable amount of crab. It lacked the character of a tater tot as well as the flavor of crab. Not impressed. My wife had New York steak. she said that it was excellent! This was a win. Cooked to a perfect medium-rare.
I had the steak fritz. The fries were excellent! The steak (flank) was closer to medium-well than the medium-rare I ordered and,as a result, was tougher than it should have been. It still had excellent flavor, though. Still this was a disappointment. The preparation was simply way too far off. I really should have told or server, but I hate getting another steak that I would be starting as my wife was finishing hers.
It was my birthday and Zephyr provided a scoop of ice cream and hot fudge. It was not exactly a traditional hot fudge sundae, but it was delicious.
On the whole, a pleasant evening because of the service and most of the food was excellent. Still, it was below my expectations for this class of restaurant as well as my prior experience. Still, every place has an off performance fronm time to time and I am quite likely to go back.
Food was very good.
Highly recommend the Ahi appetizer and the meatloaf entree.
Service not so much. Overly zealous waitress who appeared to be rushing us (either not experienced or trained or maybe just wanted to get home?)
I would come back for the food, but would look for a different server.....
A wonderful dinner with another couple. Our service was excellent as the server(s) and runners were all on top of things. Food and presentation was top notch again. A terrific evening with friends, and not just the ones at the table!
Excellent food and service! Was there during the happy hour and the food was great as well as the prices!!
On line reservation very good. Service excellent. Noise at bar....too loud for four women!
We went to Zephyr Grill to celebrate a birthday. We had the pork oso bucco, prime rib, the special thick cut pork chop with apples and a thick cut pork chop with asiago cream sauce. The oso bucco was very good, the prime rib was good not excellent. We wished the gratin potatoes weren't so soft and have a crispier cheese top. We were disappointed in both the pork chop dishes as they were overcooked and not as juicy as we would have liked. Cocktails were excellent.
This place never disappoints. Great food and service. Our halibut and filet were perfect.
Family visiting from out of town wanted to have a meal at a FINE restaurant.
Great night on the patio at Zephyr's. The ribeye was perfect, apps on the spot.
Had our dog and it was an awesome Friday night.
Thanks Zephyr team !
Zephyr is always really good. That’s why we always return.
We love this place for a casual dinner out...especially before a movie at the Vine.
I gave Zephyr one star on everything because the “hostess” who seated us was surly, rude and obviously not enjoying her job. We had a reservation (made early in the day) and she seated us way back in a corner booth by doors that led to the kitchen and it was in a room in the back. It was like eating in the back storage room in a very dark corner.
I asked if we could have one of the other empty booths in that room and she said they were “reserved,” which didn’t make sense because we had a reservation, too. And her demeanor was VERY SURLY and extremely unplanned.
I am disappointed in Zephyr, as we have eaten there over the years and generally have had decent tables and decent service. I hope that rude hostess is reprimanded.
Also, we left right away and went to Strizzi’s down the street and had a very enjoyable and pleasant meal at a nice table.
The staff and food were outstanding! They went out of their way to help us celebrate a special occasion! Highly recommend for a group!
We enjoy our dinner, the food was delicious! The staff is very friendly. Mason our server, was great, friendly and very attentive. He made our dining experience at the Zephyr Grill a pleasure. We will highly recommend this restaurant to our friends & family. We will see you again soon! Thank you!
As always, the food was excellent. Service was great tonight as well..
It's the only stylish traditional sit down in Livermore these days. However, the food is average and for what you pay for it, $$$$, there isn't much value. Even the free bread has gone downhill. Service is very good though and I appreciate the wait staff. So very frustrating considering what they could be and what they've allowed themselves to become the past few years.
Birthday experience was amazing! We love your restaurant. Linda our server was excellent and very very nice. 😊😊😊
This is one of my favorite spots - great food, today service was very very slow, restaurant wasn’t busy? So slow I scraped up cash so we didn’t have to wait longer- I’ll be back but disappointed
Great service, celebrating dual birthdays. Lettuce wraps & chicken salad wee great, and desserts were awesome!
Best meal I've had since my last Princess Cruise in 2018. Absolutely delicious!
Everything was great - the food, the service and the ambiance! My husband and I had a wonderful evening celebrating our 36th wedding anniversary!
Celebrated our 17th Wedding Anniversary there and pleasantly surprised!! Last minute late night reservation, great food, service and setting. We will make it a tradition. Thank you Zephyr!
In town for business had a great dinner our server was fantastic and helped guide us in our dinner decisions based on our likes. We had the cheese board, sooo much food for two people we we boxed half of it, we both ordered steaks, one the special filet lobster and sauce and the house prime rib we were both extremely happy with our meals.
We had a bad server but other than that the food was good.
The food was good but not noteworthy. While the service was excellent the whole restaurant has just a hint of strip mall sensibilities. However, I will probably be back as it is a very convenient location.
Fantastic and welcoming service. We did not feel rushed at all and had an incredibly pleasant meal. Overall the food was good. The tuna tartare was delicious, the steak was a bit overdone, but the salted caramel lava cake was exceptional. Love that they feature local wines! We'll definitely be back.
We were pleasantly surprised! The food was good and the service was great. We were going to see a movie at the theater and our dinner was ordered and served in an hour. It was great. We will definately go to Zephyr again.
Really bad first impression when we interacted with the front hostess who we wearing a cowboy hat and teal shirt last night. We came in one hour early for our reservation and asked if we could be seated. She didn't even try to be accommodating at all. Just said in a monotone voice, "if you that's your reservation you need to wait till then." Completely unprofessional. There were tons of tables empty. I go back on Open Table to check for an earlier reservation time and they were all open! Plenty of slots yet the hostess still didn't want to seat us. I went ahead and booked an earlier one so we can get seated early. I came back to her to tell her I rebooked for an earlier time, and she goes "I see it, you still have to wait." They need to figure out their reservation systems. If you're not booked for all these times, why can you have seated us? Not only that, The hostess seemed very disinterested and very unfriendly. I almost get the vibe that she was prejudice towards us. She whispers to her colleague who does seating, and even though in my reservation I chose indoor seating, they proceeded to take us outside in the heat without even confirming with us. When I asked why we were being seated outside when I specifically requested indoor seating, she just said we don't have any indoor seating for you even though we'd be willing to wait. I also requested that this was a birthday for my lady and the hostess never passed that info along either to the server. I really felt this was all done on purpose. It was a really not turn off and we were really starting to feel discriminated on.
Summer surf & turf meal description was very misleading. There was turf, but just a few small bits of surf, and what little there was, wasn’t good. Very disappointed!
I, as well as my friends, frequently dine/happy hour at Zephyr's. This last visit, another group of friends were there for Wine Wednesday, which I went to first, and then later joined the other party of 4 for dinner. Everything was great (service, food, beverages) both for Happy Hour and for dinner! I always recommend Zephyr Grill and Bar as an option for Livermore downtown dining.
Great evening, service was awesome. Brittany was our server, she was fun, knowledgeable about the offerings. We were celebrating a birthday with an out of town guest, we enjoyed our visit and didn’t feel pressured or rushed to ‘free up’ our table. All three dinners were scrumptious.
Definitely plan on going back.
There was some inflexibility this time when we ate at Zephyr. We have been customers for many years. We made a reservation 9 hours ahead of time and then when we tried to order from the HappyHour menu, we were told we couldn’t and that there were only 6 tables that could do that and we weren’t one of them. In the past, we were able to order fish tacos which are delicious, but not this time. Lighter fare was not available to us. The manager came over and talked to us, but said there was nothing he could do. He came back later and comped our salads. We were disappointed in the general experience.
Delicious food, well prepared, and promptly served, as always. Zephyr is my favorite brunch or lunch in sunny Livermore. Being farther down 1st Street, you are out of the downtown mosh, with easy parking. They also make a really good Bloody Mary for a fin, during weekend brunch.
This is one of our favorite local Hangouts. Nice place for a quick meal, or to linger over drinks. Great service and servers, friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!
