Zendo Asian Bistro and Lounge Ratings and Reviews
We went to Zendo for New Years Eve and were quite disappointed . We were seated at a table that was subject to drafts from the opening door, it was extremely cold. We asked for another table and they found us one behind a barrier wall opposite the bar and the kitchen and then forgot about us. I ordered a Tom Kai coconut milk soup with chicken. When it finally came it came with shrimp so I sent it back. The correct one was brought but it was so spicy that I couldn't eat it and I am used to spicy food.
We then waited for over 40 minutes for our entree's to come. I finally had to get up and call to someone over the barrier wall and our food was almost immediately produced. My husband had the Mongolian beef which he liked and I had their shrimp with walnut dish which I didn't particularly like. The fried shrimp were served as if I had ordered shrimp cocktail with a bit of spicy mayonaise but they were slightly greasy and heavy. The candied walnuts were like an after thought and the broccoli was so full of water that it wasn't worth eating.
Very small desert choice which the waitress forgot to offer us. She arrived with the check before asking us if we wanted desert. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant but my husband felt he would.
Lastly the atmosphere left much to be desired. Considering it was New Yers Eve having three large TV's with sports and Fox network playing was not a very festive atmosphere. They could have done some decorating for the holiday.
There weren't enough servers for the number of people. It was Christmas day and it felt like management had underestimated the number of staff. The servers worked really hard to take care of everyone. Otherwise, it was a great meal and we'll definitely be going back.
SO disappointed! Reservation made at Zendo prior to our paint night at Muse. We were seated right away, but then sat at our table for 10 minutes, no service. There were plenty of waitstaff running around, even eyeing my table, as we were looking around for someone... anyone... to pay attention to us. Since time was tight and we needed to eat before painting, we had to walk out. Again, very disappointing.
Justin was an awesome waiter! We followed his recommendations for sushi: the Dragon Phoenix roll and the Spicy tuna and salmon. It was first time trying Eel and Justin said I would love it - he was right! Delicious food! Husband got the Polynesian Chicken and it was also great! Also tried the Rangoons and pork dumplings which were tasty! Scorpion bowls rounded out the meal! Will definitely return!
I went there with my son for Mother's Day. I ordered the sesame chicken my son got sushi. Unfortunately they brought out my meal first and it was a good 1/2 hr before my son got his meal. I was already finished before he got to eat. They should of waited on my meal and brought them out together. Very disappointed.
I won't return her for a long time.
Food was excellent service terrible.
The most AWFUL sloppy Chinese food. First of all, we were the ONLY table in a gigantic restuarant on a Wednesday at lunch time...that should have been the warning! The $20 dollar "sizzling sea bass" was coated in batter and drowning in sauce. Really overpriced, cheap Chinese food 🥘. No ambience, no value, waitress was mostly not there even though we were the only table...she smiled..a little, so I rated her 2 stars for being nice. AWFUL CHOICE OF RESTUARANT!
Unfortunately, we received the worst service. The food was so greasy and unappealing. I went to the bar to try to pay my bill because the young gentleman who was assigned to our table was only seen twice throughout our whole dining experience. When I went to the bar I was gawked at and not asked for help. You would think that some of the adults running this place would at least understand basic hospitality.
Disgusting food and even more disgusting service. Truly unacceptable and not worth the money.
We live in Hingham and have occasionally eaten at Zendo over the past few years. Our last meal was just OK, but with our son and his family in town, we decided to go there so he could get some sushi.
We were seated promptly for our reservation, and they brought coloring books and crayons for the kids, but that was about the last thing that went right. It took 20 minutes for a glass of wine to appear, nearly 40 minutes for our appetizers to arrive, and the kids meals came out even later despite us making it clear we had a hungry 3 and 5 year old. Even after I complained to the manager, it still took another 20-30 minutes for the other sushi plate we ordered to arrive along with the our entrees.
I won't bore you with the rest, but I guess that's why they still didn't have a full house at 7:30 p.m. on a Saturday night. We won't be returning again.
Zendo Asian Bistro was an interesting find, courtesy of OpenTable. I was staying in Quincy and searching for quality Asian cuisine but could find nothing for miles around that met my standards. Zendo was your top recommendation and just 15 minutes travel time. We were delighted with the number of creative Asian dishes that were not your typical Chinese restaurant fare. Our appetizers and main courses were well prepared, presented and quite tasty. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are ever in the Hingham boatyard area.
The food is good but, wow, the service is slow. We had to actually go searching for our waitress to take our order. The restaurant was not busy. Once our order was taken, the appetizer actually came out as we we were finishing our meal. Unfortunately, we couldn't find our waitress to cancel our appetizer.
All-in-all the food is solid . They just need to improve the customer experience.
My husband and I had dinner here on Friday night while our daughter and her friend were at the movie theater next door. I was pleasantly surprised with our meal as we had never been here before. The food was delicious! Just a note... it's not your typical Chinese restaurant. It's more upscale and the prices reflect that. It's worth the extra money. If you have a "hearty" appetite the main entrees aren't enough to share but come with a serving of rice, so order one for each person. The presentation was lovely and the food was not at all greasy. All in all I would definitely recommend coming here.
The Thai steak was terribly bland. The Pad Thai had no peanuts on it at all. The other two entrees (Veggie curry and chicken stir fry were decent).
The service was inconsistent and the restaurant was not that full, so we were confused as to why we rarely saw our server.
Drinks were delicious.
Not sure I'd return
My husband, mom, 7 month old and I went here at 5pm the other night. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and came very quickly. The ambiance was cool and comfortable. We had a great time. I was worried prior to our experience because of some of the reviews but I loved it. Great spot!
As always we enjoyed our dinner here. They have very good cocktails. We really like the lychee martini and the French Cosmo. While we love traditional sushi we also like their specialty rolls that combine cooked and raw items. They are very unique and very tasty. The service was great as usual. Overall we are reminded to plan a date night more often.
Every food that I ordered in this restaurant I was always satisfied because they were delicious. I haven't found any food not to my liking! I like the ambience, the location, and the staff. This is the place for me when I entertain friends from out of town. Prices are reasonable too. Will always come back for more.
We always sit at the beautiful bar area which has a floor to ceiling selection of wine and adult libations. The menu is varied, with selections from Viet Nam, China, Japan et al-something for everyone in generous portions. Staff is friendly and attentive. Conveniently located in the Hingham Shipyard next to the movie theater its a perfect pre or post movie spot!! Highly recommended.
We went on a date night after seeing a movie. It's right next door to the cinema. The sushi was just poor. Rolls too big, but nothing special or flavorful about any of the 5 rolls we ordered. Our service by our waitress was excellent, the only bright spot. The wine by the glass selection was really limited, which always annoys me (like my husband and I should really chug a whole bottle alone?) The restaurant looks nice, but the food is very lacking.
We shared fried dumplings and a chicken in lettuce wrap appetizer, followed by the sea bass entree, which was served with rice. The dumplings had a thin wrapper, not the thick doughy wrapper you get many places. Just the right amount of food, very tasty, and the service was good. Dining room was moderately busy when we arrived at 7 on a Friday night, and very busy when we departed. The menu has a good selection of Chinese, Japanese and (a few) Thai items. We were pleased with our choices.
